Joyce (eternity21) | 739 comments Hi Tatiana,
Hope you like your picks, we don't seem to have too many books in common but I think you should like these.

A) Out with the Old
1. Pile's O'Books:
A Breath of Snow and Ashes by Diana Gabaldon at 980 pages its your biggest book on your TBR list.
2. Mt. TBR: Counterfeit Magic by Kelley Armstrong This is a small book and one I did not know about I had to add it to my list.
3. Steadily Gaining: Sybil: The True and Extraordinary Story of a Woman Possessed By Sixteen Separate Personalities by Schreiber, Flora. I read this book years ago and it always stayed with me.
B) In With the New
1. Cresting the Rise:
Naked in Death by J.D. Robb. I notice you do not have much mystery in your lists. This is a great series with a kick-ass heroine. This series just goes on and on and does not get old.
2. Reaching the Summit: The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon by Stephen King. I notice you read some Stephen King. I am not a huge fan of him but this book was so good I had a hard time putting it down.
3. It's All Downhill From Here: Stitches in Time by Barbara Michaels. I love her books. She is a bit of paranormal with a mystery to them.
C) Go It Alone or With Someone: I used your TBR list to pick these.
1. The Gathering by Kelley Armstrong: I had never heard of this book before. I love Kelley Armstrong and it sounds interesting.
2. Mind Games by Carolyn Crane. This sounds like an interesting book. I added it to my TBR list

Tatiana (tatiana_g) Thank you for your recs, Joyce. I think I will go either with Sybil: The True and Extraordinary Story of a Woman Possessed By Sixteen Separate Personalities or Counterfeit Magic. I wish I could read A Breath of Snow and Ashes, but I haven't finished the installment before it yet. And The Gathering will be out in April I think. We can read it together then:)

Hi Penney, sorry about the long list - you should see the books I have lined up on my bookwall (its too big to be a bookcase LOL). I don't know what to pick first I love all of them. I think I might just tackle
Breaking Dawn I already have it audiobook. and need to get to it before they do the movies.

I've already read Naked in Death and Darkfever (I fixed my TBR list. They are great series I agree. The Iron Duke I've add that to my TBR list and I think I have Magic Bites is a possible choice too.

message 261: by Leah (new)

Leah (leahkarge) Megan, here is my list of recs for you, finally. Sorry that I haven't gotten to them before tonight. I didn't have access to my computer all weekend :/ Anyway, here they are and I hope you can find something you like. If not, let me know and I'll try again :)

A. Out with the Old
1. A Game of Thrones by George R.R. Martin
- This is the biggest book on your TBR shelf. I've never read it personally but I figure since you have it on there you have at least a little interest in reading it :)
2. The Best Is Yet To Come by Diana Palmer - This is one of the shorter books on your TBR list and starting small can always be a great incentive to get through the list faster. Plus, I love Diana Palmer's writing.
3. Nothing More to Lose by Kathryn Shay - I really love this series; the first one is my favorite but I thought the last two were pretty good too. I see you gave After the Fire 5 stars but only 3 to On the Line. NMTL is pretty awesome and you should definitely give it a chance. Two more books on your TBR shelf that I absolutely love are North of Beautiful by Justina Chen Headley and Perfect Chemistry by Simone Elkeles.

B. In With the New
1. The Darkest Night by Gena Showalter
- This is one of my favorite Paranormal Romance series and I noticed that you don't have it on your shelves. It is an on-going series that I continue to read so I just had to put it down for this category :)

2. Some Like It Wicked by Teresa Medeiros - I borrowed this book from a friend and read it recently. I found it to be really good, gave it 5 stars, and you don't have it on your TBR or read shelves, so I thought I'd recommend it.

3. Dark Lover by J.R. Ward - You don't have any J.R. Ward on any of your shelves and she is one of my favorite authors. Plus, I just have to share these studly Brothers with everyone I can!

C. Go It Alone or With Someone
1. Ruthless by Anne Stuart
- I've been meaning to read this book for a while and I even went so far as to buy it, but I haven't gotten around to reading it. If you decide to do this one, then I would definitely join you :)

2. Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card - I've been told that this book is really great and I bought it, but I haven't gotten around to reading it. If you decide to read this book, then I will be joining you on this one, too!

I hope there are recommendations here that you will pick and enjoy, Megan! :D

message 262: by Leah (new)

Leah (leahkarge) Cassie, thank you for the recommendations. I'm not sure which one I am going to read yet since I don't own any of them. Maybe I'll take a crack at Outlander since I have the ebook but I'm not sure :)

No fears--can't start reading yet anyway until I finish the last set of essays I have to grade. It will only give me yet another reason to procrastinate! I am going to probably read Wake because it's in my bookpile and you said it went quickly. If you want to buddy read Poison Study that is also in my bookpile. I'm intrigued by Playing with Fire but I'm trying to winnow down the piles first. I've read Second Sight. Probably have read all Krentz/Quick books except the most recent.

3. Steadily gaining (good book I enjoyed): Slave to Sensation or Angels' Blood by Nalini Singh.

3. All downhill from here (new author/genre): Sci-fi Rom - After Dark by Jayne Castle.

C. Go it alone or with someone: buddy read if possible

1. The Lion's Lady by Julie Garwood

3. Sh*t My Dad Says by Justin Halpern.

Hey Becky! Thanks for the picks!! Unfortunately, I read When Beauty Tamed the Beast yesterday before checking the posts:-) (It was very sweet, btw)

For February, I'll be reading (hmmm.. so many good choices!) either Poison Study (Study, #1) by Maria V. Snyder As You Desire by Connie Brockway Never Seduce a Scoundrel (School for Heiresses, Book 1) by Sabrina Jeffries One Night With You by Sophie Jordan or Warrior (The Blades of the Rose, #1) by Zoe Archer .. Hey:-) Unfortunately I haven't read a whole bunch of the books on your TBR, so I picked a couple I haven't tried (hope they're good!).. If you can't find a book you'd like to read, let me know and I'll try choosing something else!:-D

A. Out with the Old
1) A Vintage Affair - Isabel Wolff: was one of your longest books, and seemed like a very sweet read.
2) The Accidental Demon Slayer - Angie Fox: seemed like a really fun book (which I added to my TBR, lol).
3) Soulless - Gail Carringer: was the only book on your TBR that I'd read, and I really enjoyed this first book (much more so than the second book!).

B. In With the New
1) Halfway to the Grave by Jeanine Frost: I saw you had the fifth book on your TBR, but not the first, so in case you hadn't read it yet, I want to recommend it - it's fabulous!
In case you have read it, I want to recommend Night Pleasures by Sherrilyn Kenyon: I love the Dark-Hunter series, and am surprised you haven't read it yet:-D
2) The Prey by Allison Brennan: I saw you liked RS, and Allison Brennan is amazing (I think I rated all her books 5*).
3) Worth Any Price by Lisa Kleypas or The Duke by Gaelen Foley: You don't seem to have any HR on your shelves, and those were two of my favorites, in case you'd like to try this genre:-D

C. Go It Alone or With Someone
1) This Side of the Grave by Jeanine Frost: If you have read the first four of the series, I can't wait to read this one, so I'd love to read it with a buddy:-)
2) The Gargoyle by Andrew Davidson: I've had this on my TBR for months, and have heard great things about it
3) Bet Me by Jennifer Crusie: I love this author, her books are all great fun, especially if you're wanting a light and fun read (contemporary romance)

A Vintage Affair by Isabel Wolff The Accidental Demon Slayer (Demon Slayer, #1) by Angie Fox Soulless (The Parasol Protectorate, #1) by Gail Carriger Halfway to the Grave (Night Huntress, #1) by Jeaniene Frost Night Pleasures (Dark-Hunter, #1) by Sherrilyn Kenyon The Prey (Predator Trilogy, #1) by Allison Brennan Worth Any Price (Bow Street Runners, #3) by Lisa Kleypas Duke by Gaelen Foley This Side of the Grave (Night Huntress, #5) by Jeaniene Frost The Gargoyle by Andrew Davidson Bet Me by Jennifer Crusie

message 298: by Coffeentea (last edited Feb 01, 2011 12:49AM) (new)

Coffeentea | 128 comments Yz, I really enjoyed browsing through your book shelves. It’s fun to see such a large and varied selection. I hope you’ll find something here you’ll enjoy reading. If not, let me know and I’ll pick something else.

A. Out with the Old
1. Pile’s O’Books – The Witching Hour - I read this book about 15 years ago and remembered liking it. I don’t think I finish the trilogy, I think I’ll put it on my TBR (haha adding more to my big pile) and finish all 3 books this time.

2. Mt. TBR – Giving Chase - This is a sweet romance without the typical plot device of big misunderstanding, thank goodness! I am so tired of those. There’s a bit of a suspense, but it’s secondary to the romance developing between the 2 main characters. It’s a quick read at 189 pages.

3. Steadily gaining – Atlantis Unleashed by Alyssa Day – What can I say? I love a dark tortured hero with an intelligent heroine who is an archeologist with who can see the past of the object through touch. This was one of my favorite books of this series.

B. In With the New
1. Cresting the Rise - Seduce Me – It’s a historical romance adventure story. It’s about a group of men and women who hunt down treasures to prove the existence of legends. It combines my two favorite themes - romance and treasure hunting.
Tempest Rising – I like that the heroine had a snarky sense of humor, plus she's a different kind of paranormal being - a half selkie. It starts off slow with the back story of Jane, but it build up to good suspense and action, not to mention some romance.

2. Reaching the Summit – Count to Ten - It’s a really good romantic suspense. The suspense was tightly bound. Action was fast paced with a little side of romance.
Dragon Heat – If you enjoy a good dragon story mixed with Chinese mythology, then you’ll like this one. It’s about a half Chinese woman who inherited her grandmother’s apartment along with a dragon. I love the details about San Francisco.

3. Its All Downhill from Here – The Iron King – I noticed that you have YA books in your TBR. I think you’ll like this one. It’s about a sixteen year old half Fae girl crossing over to the fairyland to rescue her little brother. Along the way, she learns more about herself, her family and her best friend.

C. Go It Alone or With Someone
1. Dreams of a Dark Warrior – Since you seem to be up to date with IAD, I thought we could read Regin’s book together. I can’t wait….I am still deciding if I should get this in hard copy or kindle.

2. Sins of the Heart – I’ve wanted to read this book for a while now. The premise sound so interesting with the two gods pitting against each other through their followers. The hero is a soul reaper. There’s something about the grim reaper and death that I am into reading lately.
