Aynge (ayngemac) | 1202 comments If you had to choose between these two superpowers, which one would you prefer?

I think flying would be much more fun. And practical. No more bitching and moaning about my commute.

I used to think that was my biggest wish, to be invisible. Now I already feel that way sometimes.

Flight.

message 3: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) I want both.

message 4: by Sally, la reina (new)

Sally (mrsnolte) | 17373 comments Mod
You have to choose, train man.

message 5: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Can't make me.

message 6: by Michael (new)

Michael I'd choose invisibility.

message 7: by Jonathan (new)

Jonathan Lopez | 4726 comments I think flying would scare the heck out of me. I'll take invisibility, please.

message 8: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) This reminds me of the old joke about Wonder Woman, The Invisible Man, and Superman.

One day, Superman was flying around with nothing to do, when he thought he would go past Wonder Woman's house. As he flew over, he saw her lying on her back in the back yard naked, moving around strangely ....

message 9: by Sally, la reina (new)

Sally (mrsnolte) | 17373 comments Mod
That's not a joke.

message 10: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) It's not?

message 11: by Sally, la reina (new)

Sally (mrsnolte) | 17373 comments Mod
It just sounds like a short, graphic story.

message 12: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Well, I didn't tell the punch line.

message 13: by Aynge (new)

Aynge (ayngemac) | 1202 comments I saw a movie called The Entity with Barbara Hershey as a woman who was repeatedly raped by an invisible man or demon. I started watching it because Ron Silver was in it, and I had a crush on him.

Pretty disturbing.

message 14: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Was Ron Silver invisible?

message 15: by Sally, la reina (new)

Sally (mrsnolte) | 17373 comments Mod
ew. That sounds like Nic Cage raping a prostitute while high on crack and making her boyfriend watch at gunpoint.

message 16: by Aynge (new)

Aynge (ayngemac) | 1202 comments No, Ron Silver was the shrink who didn't believe her.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) Neither. I'd want a different power.

message 18: by Scout (new)

Scout (goodreadscomscout) | 3595 comments Both. I want both.

message 19: by Aynge (new)

Aynge (ayngemac) | 1202 comments But you have to choose one or the other.

message 20: by Scout (new)

Scout (goodreadscomscout) | 3595 comments OK. Both give you freedom, but invisibility is covert, so I choose flight. Cool, clean freedom.

message 21: by Gatorman (new)

Gatorman Invisibility.

message 22: by Kevin (new)

Kevin (ksprink) | 11469 comments I would use invisibility for evil purposes. Better fly....

message 23: by janine (new)

janine | 7709 comments flight, but i'll have to get a bright-coloured flying suit to keep me warm. with a cape.

message 24: by RandomAnthony (new)

RandomAnthony | 14536 comments Ok, let me expand this question. You could have BOTH flight and invisibility, but if you choose that option, you can NEVER have an orgasm again.

What would you do?

message 25: by Phil (last edited Jan 31, 2011 06:53AM) (new)

Phil | 11837 comments No capes!

message 26: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) RandomAnthony wrote: "Ok, let me expand this question. You could have BOTH flight and invisibility, but if you choose that option, you can NEVER have an orgasm again.

That's just bogus.

message 27: by Phil (new)

Phil | 11837 comments I'd jerk off in flight.

message 28: by [deleted user] (new)

I should choose invisibility, since I'm afraid of heights. But, I'd much prefer flight...no more traffic ridden commute wishing I had a mini-gun attached to my Kia.

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments I want to be able to teleport.

message 30: by Aynge (new)

Aynge (ayngemac) | 1202 comments That would be cool, but I can't stop thinking about Jeff Goldblum merging with that fly. Having to keep some of your vital organs in mason jars... not for me.

message 31: by Scout (new)

Scout (goodreadscomscout) | 3595 comments The Star Trek transporter is the thing. Step in, step out into . . . wherever you want to go. I'll take that and keep my orgasm options open.

message 32: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Beam me off ... I mean up.

message 33: by Scout (new)

Scout (goodreadscomscout) | 3595 comments Ha.

Re: Jeff Goldblum movie. I saw that when about 10, I'm sure it was R rated. It scared the poo out of me.

message 35: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Well, one day Superman was flying over Wonder Woman's house ....

message 36: by Sally, la reina (new)

Sally (mrsnolte) | 17373 comments Mod
Larry! You are on the porch. Freezing cold. We can't hear you.

message 37: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) ... and the Invisible man suddenly yelled, "Youch! What the hell was that?"

message 38: by Scout (new)

Scout (goodreadscomscout) | 3595 comments I hear you, Larry. I'm trying to find the letters to express my appreciation. Maybe Mmmchtt.

Kevin (ksprink) | 11469 comments Jackie "the Librarian" wrote: "I want to be able to teleport."

we watched Galaxy Quest again the other night and the teleporter scene is tooooo funny

message 40: by [deleted user] (new)

GQ, haven't watched that in YEARS!

(mental note: dig out GQ DVD.)

message 41: by [deleted user] (new)

Ooh flying definitely! I am not creepy or paranoid enough to want to be invisible:)

message 42: by [deleted user] (new)

I've thought about this further and I am even more confident about flight over invisibility. Presumably you have to be naked to be invisible. Now, I would be too nervous of a falter in the system. And, anything you pick up or get on you would lessen your superpower (make you slightly visible). No thanks, too much trouble! Seems to only have it's use for eavesdropping, which I cannot be bothered with.

message 43: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) So you're okay with having your flying ability falter?

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments Who says you have to fly up high, Larry? You could fly about three feet off the ground. :)

message 45: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 13814 comments

message 46: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 13814 comments Technically he's not flying. He's as tall as he'll ever be but his feet just haven't reached the ground yet.

message 47: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Jackie "the Librarian" wrote: "Who says you have to fly up high, Larry? You could fly about three feet off the ground. :)"

True. But where's the thrill in that?

So he grows down?
