readers advisory for all discussion
if you weren't part of the first invitation go-round, please read this because it is important

I read your 'Readers Advisory' above. I think that what you've done as a project for grad school is brilliant! I'm someone who doesn't have the time to waste on "yuck" books. I'm a certified "book-aholic and "book nerd" and I couldn't be happier with any other monikers.
I just joined a few minutes ago so I haven't had the chance to get a feel for your site or to digest what and who is on it yet.
Thank you for making this kind of interface possible for all of us out here.
Best,
Elizabeth

I am setting up a readers’ advisory group on goodreads.com. Readers’ advisory is a service that librarians and some booksellers pro..."
I'll gladly participate when I can.

(There wasn't an introductions thread so I posted here- I hope that's okay. ^.^)
Salutations!

there's a section called "so ask already," which is basically people asking for specific kinds of books and other people giving them suggestions of what they might like to read. sort of like what goodreads does on its "recommendations" page, but much more helpful. :)

no problem. :)
after a while, i decided to make a thread for authors to promote, because it seemed to be useful. so, we do have the one thread now. the project part is long over, so the purpose of the group has evolved somewhat.

This group seems interesting so far, glad to be a part!

Oops! Sorry.

*goes to correct thread*

Oh okay! For a moment there I thought I had one of those glowing neon "noob" signs over my head.
You know the one.

hahaha no, we're still here, but most of the activity takes place in this thread:

the project part is over, but this part lives on

Goodreads genres are based on the names of the shelves readers use for their books. To register picaresque on Goodreads radar, several readers need to each create a shelf named picaresque and add books to that shelf. The more readers with that shelf name and the more books on those shelves will lead to more visibility on the genre radar.

There are also some listopias for picaresque:

hhahahaha glad to help! i didn't invent readers' advisory or anything, but i'm pleased to practice it in my free time!
sorry - i'm just seeing this now - yes, RA is shorthand for readers' advisory. i'm not here as much as i used to be, but i'm grateful the group is still reasonably active and i hope to be able to return to this wonderful group when my life calms down a bit. but i do love that people are still here. it's really uplifting.

my 2021 resolution is to be a better steward of this place. i have been an absentee mom for years.
