Jaimie (jaimier) | 1275 comments The other one is Ice Study - I haven't read it yet and I don't know where in the series it takes place but I believe it is from Yelena's pov.

Peep (Pop! Pop!) Make sure you sign up for her newsletter. She puts goodies in there all the time.

ooooo really?!

Peep (Pop! Pop!) Yep, if you send me your email (PM), I can forward you the Jan/Feb newsletter so you can get an idea of whats in them.

message 809: by Megan (new)

Megan (megjmck) | 2 comments I'm reading Aurelia by Anne Osterlund. It's pretty good!

message 810: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm simultaneously reading five books which are The Fabric of the Cosmos, by Brain Greene; The Heist Society, by Ally Carter; The Complete Sherlock Holmes, Volume I, by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle (it was only $8 at B&N!); Watership Down, by Rishard Adams; and The God Delusion, by Richard Dawkins.

message 811: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Isabelle - those are some heavy books to read at once. I watched the Brian Greene series about string theory on PBS. He made it more interesting than it sounds!

message 812: by Lisa (new)

Lisa (Bookworm Lisa) (letsread) | 22 comments I really liked Aurelia. I think I liked Academy 7 a little better. Both are definitely worth reading.

message 813: by Lynn (new)

Lynn | 1 comments When You Reach Me by Rebecca Stead

I previewed this for one of my sixth graders. Great book. This book has mystery, time travel, and everyday kid stuff all wrapped into an intriguing story and characters we all can relate to. I definitely recommend it.

message 814: by [deleted user] (new)

Finished Fire Study (Study, #3) by Maria V. Snyder yesterday, just started Vampire Academy (Vampire Academy, #1) by Richelle Mead

Robyn Hawk (aflyonthewall) | 53 comments Bluemoon wrote: "tried buying Inside Out today but they were sold out :(!"

WOW - too bad it's really fun!

message 816: by Jaimie (new)

Jaimie (jaimier) | 1275 comments I got Inside out this weekend and will probably start tomorrow. Sounds interesting.

message 817: by [deleted user] (new)

Is this the Inside Out book you are all talking about?

message 818: by Peep (Pop! Pop!) (new)

Peep (Pop! Pop!) Nope Shannen it's this one: Inside Out by Maria V. Snyder . Or at least I think it's the one everyone else is reading.

I just started it, now on chapter 3. It just came out a few days ago.

message 819: by [deleted user] (new)

Thanks, Peep! Added it to my list!

That's the one!!!

BUT - be forewarned - this is NOT a continuation of the Study or Glass books - this is a whole NEW world and genre.

Maria is trying her hand at SciFi and this world is interesting...the other nice thing is that I think that it will appeal to boys as well and to a younger reader. This is a book you could recommend to a tween that is reading above their grade.

message 821: by Heidi (new)

Heidi I think I have one of Maria's books in my tbr pile because you recommended it Peep - but it is a study one.

message 822: by Peep (Pop! Pop!) (new)

Peep (Pop! Pop!) You guys and your ridiculously long tbr piles. I just back out of a thread if I see someone recommending something.

message 823: by Traci (new)

Traci Finally finished the Uglies Series.. Tomorrow I will begin Water for Elephants.. I've heard excellent things about it--but usually when that happens I end up disappointed. Oh well. Crossing my fingers!

message 824: by Peep (Pop! Pop!) (new)

Peep (Pop! Pop!) Water for Elephants is really good! Be warned though it is really not young adult! Some of those mental images I could have done without. I'm just sayin'.

message 825: by Traci (new)

Traci I'm fine with adult novels.. I just tend to prefer young adult. so much more whimsical :] (usually) but I am definitely excited about it. I'm kinda swamped with school lately though so I don't know how long it'll take me to get through it. If it's as good as people say, hopefully not too long!

message 826: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Keep trying to look away Peep - your resolve won't last forever! Traci I liked Water for Elephants and I am picky.

message 828: by Traci (new)

Traci Bluemoon- I liked the first 3. it was originally supposed to be a trilogy, but then Westerfeld wrote a fourth one three years in the future from a whole new character's POV. It was nowhere near as entertaining. It's a dystopian series, in the same realm as The Hunger Games (but not as good!)

Heidi- good.. we agreed on time traveler's wife so hopefully we will agree on this one as well! ;]

message 829: by Peep (Pop! Pop!) (new)

Peep (Pop! Pop!) Folks I know I can do it, it has already been done! I do not add them to my pile!! Ok - there's nothing I can do about my mental tbr list, but you can hardly blame me for that.

message 830: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Keep telling yourself that Peep!

message 831: by Peep (Pop! Pop!) (new)

Peep (Pop! Pop!) I'm trying to! I did say that I didn't add any books but I have to confess that I added at least 7 books since Saturday to my TBR pile. And I see more today. I think those books don't count because I had to add them on a NEW sheet. So it's not REALLY my TBR pile. Just a scrap of paper in my purse....

message 832: by Amanda (new)

Amanda Orlich Ahern (kittymeowxcore) | 56 comments Still trudging along with the Everworld series. :)

message 833: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Peep - I checked and have Poison Study in my tbr pile - would you still recommend that one, or should I read Inside Out?

message 834: by Peep (Pop! Pop!) (new)

Peep (Pop! Pop!) I'm not yet done with Inside Out yet, but I still really recommend Poison Study. It's really good! I'm reading the Rangers Apprentice also, but I think that one will be my night read.

message 835: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Ok - I will stick with that one then. Thanks :) p.s. The Informant was really dry - you were right. We made cookies while we watched it because it was so boring in parts. Can you believe that guy stole that much money?? p.s.s. It happened just a few miles from my house, and Matt Damen and crew actually filmed here for awhile.

message 836: by Peep (Pop! Pop!) (new)

Peep (Pop! Pop!) Heidi I fell alseep but my hubby stayed up! I;ll have to ask him if he can believe it :P

PS. I probably would have stalked Matt Damon if he were that close.

message 837: by Heidi (new)

Heidi I guess some people did stalk Matt and also Joel McHale :)

message 838: by Rochelle (new)

Rochelle (itsmechelly) | 45 comments Just finished "Shiver". I like it, the plot was interesting but felt the writing was too syrupy and lovey-dovey at times. The last 150 pages are what really drew me in and I will be picking up a copy of "Linger" in June.

message 839: by Jaimie (new)

Jaimie (jaimier) | 1275 comments Heidi wrote: "Peep - I checked and have Poison Study in my tbr pile - would you still recommend that one, or should I read Inside Out?"

I just finished Inside Out and I liked it, not as much as Poison Study though. I am just a little partial to Yelena - she is a bad ass.

message 840: by Peep (Pop! Pop!) (new)

Peep (Pop! Pop!) Jaimie what did you rate it?

message 841: by Jaimie (new)

Jaimie (jaimier) | 1275 comments I haven't rated it yet but I am thinking 4 stars? I don't know because there were things about it that I guess seemed a little ...rushed? But I couldn't put it down once I started reading it yesterday and finished it before bed. I think there could have been a little more character development with Riley - but I liked him so I don't know.

message 842: by Peep (Pop! Pop!) (new)

Peep (Pop! Pop!) Oh goodness, I've got a meeting to go to tonight but I think I can squeeze it in somewhere. Now I can't wait to finish it. You know it would be easier if you said you hated it. That goes for all of you and your recommendations!!

message 843: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm getting close to being done with Graceling but not sure what to read next on my TBR list. Maybe Fire? Poison Study? Wicked Lovely? Unwind? Twenty Boy Summer? Too many books to choose from!

Chelly - I loved Shiver too. When I finished it, I thought I would die waiting for Linger. Thank heavens for other good series to get addicted to!

message 844: by Jaimie (last edited Apr 06, 2010 02:28PM) (new)

Jaimie (jaimier) | 1275 comments I definitely didn't hate it. I guess everything in the book just happens really fast and I am used to her books spreading out over a longer period of time. I am still processing it but I know I liked it.

message 845: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Shannen - what about The Book Thief? It is in your tbr pile. Come on!

message 846: by Becca (new)

Becca | 1608 comments I'm reading The Book Thief right now and I'm having a hard time getting into it. I loved the fact that Death is narrating it and that was really interesting to begin with, but now I'm having a hard time sticking to it. Does it get better?

message 847: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Becca - it is def. hard to get into the Book Thief, but worth it if you stick with it. You are not alone with this thought - it seems like everyone feels that way about it at first.

message 848: by [deleted user] (new)

See, Heidi? This is why I haven't started The Book Thief.

message 849: by Peep (Pop! Pop!) (new)

Peep (Pop! Pop!) Yes it does Becca. I read some of it before then when Heidi wouldn't stop harping about it I decided to finish it, and I'm glad I did. What page are you on?

Keep trying! We believe in you! You can do it!! (How's that for encouragement?)

message 850: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Ugh Shannen - just try it. Pretty please???
