I love Percy Jackson too!!!! The author has a new book on the Egyptian gods coming out May 4th!

I started the first book in the Last Apprentice series, but never finished. It started good, but I'd like more opinions...anyone?

I love the Gone series by Michael Grant. Very different, sci-fi and lord of the flies type...interesting. I recommend them! It goes Gone, Hunger, and Lies just came out.

I am a huge fan of Phillip Pullman's books! His Dark Materials are amazing and truly a vision to read. Unlike anything I've ever read before and great books for discussions.

Eragon and Eldest are wonderful....Brisinger was harder for me to read, but I still enjoyed it. I'd like to see how it is going to end....

I enjoyed the first few of the Last Apprentice - by the last one I was kind of bored with it though. Have you read the Ranger's Apprentice books? I liked those much better!

Can;t really compare it to other books... Unlike the books out there focused on witchcraft and magic and the supernatural, the Ranger's Apprentice series focuses on more of an old fantasy feel with knights and rangers and diplomats and strange creatures abounding. Hope this helps!!

I just finished , it was pretty good. I enjoyed it. I've got the second one, , on interlibrary loan, but I'm having a hard time switching gears from one set of characters to another.

I would compare the Ranger's Apprentice series to the Black Cauldron series by Lloyd Alexander so far, but I'm only 3/4 the way through the first book, so I don't know if it will hold true for that. It's been really good so far though.

Thanks for your opinion on it, Peep! I didn't get the chance to read it last night because I'm finishing Fire Study, but I'm going to continue with it sometime soon. Hmmm, I'm curious to see which part you hated so much.

Laura it didn't bother some people, but it really bothered me. You'll know when you get to it. It's certainly a different book and I'm glad I read it, even if it is on my Hated list. I might move it up a notch, now that I'm thinking about it. Decisions, decisions.

I loved the Jessica Darling series - Marcus Flutie I heart you! - but Jess has a hard time figuring out what she wants and who she is in the third and fourth books. I think she learns a lot about how she can be so contradictory. It really reminds me of all the growing up I did in college. The last book is fabulous.

I would not say that... I would say just grab the first one and see what you think. It is a very quick read. :-)

I too love Marcus Flutie! I ended up skipping most of the fourth book when Perfect Fifths became available at the library. I'm loving it! One thing that has driven me nuts during the series is the pacing of the books, each one is a different amount of time (Charmed Third was her whole college career, but Fourth Comings was just one week).

I really enjoyed the first two Jessica Darling books but got turned off by Charmed Thirds. It's nice to know that the fifth book is good. I might have to give this series another try.

I'm currently reading Fade Out, the 7th book in the Morganville Vampires series, and LOVING it. I hope Rachel Caine never stops writing these novels!

It's incredibly addicting. I just finished Fade Out and loved it. I'm pretty sad I only have one book left until I will be forced to wait until November!! The first two books, I thought they were alright, but after the third, I could not get enough. They're great!!!

Strange Angels was... good. It is another paranormal romance, but it does have a different twist that others don't have. I had trouble connecting with the protagonist, but by the end I couldn't help but want to read the sequel.

I just started listening to Impossible and I am loving the audio. I'm also about to read my ARC of Outside of a Horse by Ginny Rorby which I am really excited about.

Currently listening to Angus, Thongs and Full-Frontal Snogging: Confessions of Georgia Nicolson and I have to say she is hilariously rude. I don't know that I would have stuck with the book if I wasn't listening to it. The blunt humor really comes out with the great narrator they have reading it.

Becca - I totally agree with you about Georgia being rude, but it "sounding better" on audio, as you understand her meaning more.

Especially since I'm not in that "time of life" anymore. I have a hard time relating to teens occasionally when they are just so...teen. But the narrator does a fantastic job.

I'm in the middle of Enna Burning and I really like it so far! Getting to the good part :)

Oh! that was a good one Amy. River's Secret was my favorite in that series so far, but I really liked Enna's story too.

I just finished the fifth book and loved it. The whole series I wanted more of the Jessica/Marcus tension and that's pretty much the entire fifth book, so I was satisfied.

Lani, that's awesome. I'm definitely adding the final two books to my TBR pile. And if I don't like the fourth, I'll just keep in mind that it'll be worth it to get to the fifth. I really don't like to leave series unfinished.

I haven't listened to any of them but I couldn't stop laughing when I read them. The author was/is a comedian and a lot of the books are based on her life when she was 14. I listened to an interview of her on her website - it was pretty great.

I just picked up Magic Study from the library along with The Queen of Attolia, The Mists of Avalon, and Alanna: The First Adventure. I'm excited but can't decide which to read first...any help?

That sounds like the best TBR pile EVER! I loved Queen of Attolia and Alanna: The First Adventure the most, so I suggest one of those two :-)

I'm a save the best for last type of person, so I might do the Mists of Avalon first since I haven't heard anything about it.

I'm about 100 pages into and have got to say, Carrie Bradshaw was truly an individual even when she was 17! It was weird at first because I still am having a hard time imagining her in High School but the more I read the better picture I am getting.

Becca, I'm about halfway through Alanna. I think I would have absolutely loved this book when I was younger, but it's a good read now, too. You'll be able to knock it out very quickly.

As for Magic Study, I'd say don't go in expecting it to be like Poison Study. Personally, I still really liked it, but it's just different.

And The Queen's Thief books are on my TBR list. I'm looking forward to them!

I am a SATC fan for sure but I didn't read the book for SATC because I had already seen all or most of the episodes but I really like Candace Bushnell. All of her books are set in NY of course and there is quite a bit of fashion laced through out but they are good books. Trading Up and Lipstick Jungle were both good. Trading Up is about a model who is a total social climber but is pretty gritty at parts and Lipstick Jungle (unlike the tv show) was great. It was about high powered women who don't take no shit. The Carrie Diaries is just a bit weird because I don't think of CB having siblings or parents.

And Peep/Shannen - where are your ovaries? SATC is awesome for the shoes alone. Carrie Bradshaw is fab - and not just because of her clothes - she is like a modern feminist who don't let nobody tell her what she can or can't do.

While the shoes may be beautiful to look at, have you ever seen an overweight woman in 3" heels? It's not a pretty sight! Needless to say, I'll stick with my flip flops and flats!
