Traci - Out of all of those, go with the first in the Fever series! :)

Mindy (mindylu) | 82 comments Traci, have you read "Shiver" it was really good!

Mindy (mindylu) | 82 comments Bluemoon wrote: "LAURA: saw the Ranger's Apprentice in the bookstore. What book would you compare it too?"

This is what I would tell you about it. It is like they took the idea of a ranger from "Lord or the Rings" and made it it's own book. I really like them but that is what it remindes me of. I have read three of them waiting to get the 4th from the library!

Sheila Beaumont (sheilabeaumont) | 18 comments I'm just about to start The Sorceress by Michael Scott.

Traci Mindy wrote: "Traci, have you read "Shiver" it was really good!"

Yeah, I have. And I'm in the minority when I say, "Eh. It was okay." :x

message 1256: by Jessica (new)

Jessica (roses7184) I just finished Never After by Dan Elconin. It was hilarious!

Now I am debating between Wintergirls, Beautiful Creatures and Shiver. Any opinions?

message 1257: by Wendy-Lynn (new)

Wendy-Lynn I will be starting The Red Pyramid by Rick Riordan as soon as I receive it from Amazon. The Red Pyramid (Kane Chronicles, #1) by Rick Riordan

message 1258: by Laura (new)

Laura | 114 comments Jessica - Although I know many people love Beautiful Creatures, I just couldn't get into it. I know it's well-written, but I thought the book dragged and the characters fell flat.

I did, however, love Shiver. The writing was beautiful and the story was completely engrossing. One of my favorite reads of last year.

And I've only heard good things about Wintergirls. It's on my TBR list.

message 1259: by Heidi (new)

Heidi I agree with Laura about Beautiful Creatures and Shiver.

How about Bloody Jack!

message 1261: by Traci (new)

Traci No, I've never heard of that one before! Sounds interesting though, I added it to my TBR.. it just keeps growing exponentially! (never thought I'd get to use math terminology after high school! :D )

message 1262: by Becca (new)

Becca | 1608 comments Angus, Thongs, etc. is laugh out loud funny. This girl has the driest humor ever and she is such a typical teenager. Was I ever like her in any way? Lol! Probably.

Heidi Becca wrote: "Angus, Thongs, etc. is laugh out loud funny. This girl has the driest humor ever and she is such a typical teenager. Was I ever like her in any way? Lol! Probably."

I actually liked the movie too. I bought a used copy of it and the soundtrack. I love good soundtracks.

message 1264: by Jaimie (new)

Jaimie (jaimier) | 1275 comments agreed Becca! Georgia is hilarious!

Wasn't I practically shunned for wanting to use Wikipedia on a few series??

Say what??? I would never shun you Peep.

message 1267: by Christine (new)

Christine Fonseca (christine_fonseca) | 2 comments Need a great list of books (they aren't ALL YA - but most are) - check out this list: http://elanajohnson.blogspot.com/p/re... and check out the posts linked. Great reviews of too many great books to mention.

message 1268: by Jessica (new)

Jessica (roses7184) Thanks Laura and Heidi for the feedback! I think I'll go with starting Wintergirls. I've heard fabulous things too and honestly Beautiful Creatures is a little bit daunting. It's a huge book!

I think I wanted to wikipedia Harry Potter and that RobP movie but was advised not to :(

Also, it's good to know that you won't shun me. I'll keep that in mind when I'm trying to come up with sarcastic remarks :)

Brittany (finally graduated and can once again read for fun) | 1328 comments Oh... you can't wiki those, Peep. You have to use Wiki for bad stuff. HP is well worth the adventure.

message 1271: by Peep (Pop! Pop!) (new)

Peep (Pop! Pop!) I just found out that they have copies at my other library. I'll pick it up the next time I'm there. But be forewarned that I plan on adding it to the bottom of my tbr pile strictly out of spite. (But secretly I'm kin of excited to read it).

message 1272: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Yeah Peep! I am super excited to see what you think, whenever you get to it.

message 1273: by Traci (new)

Traci *sigh* I've been reading Harry Potter since I was in the fourth grade.. It's so ridiculously ingrained in me.. it will forever be my true love. <3 :p

message 1274: by Heidi (last edited May 03, 2010 08:20PM) (new)

Heidi It is forever my favorite YA too Traci. It is just such a wonderful story within such a wonderful world, and I started reading it in my 30's!

message 1275: by Jessica (new)

Jessica (roses7184) I LOVE Harry Potter! I was a fangirl :).

message 1276: by [deleted user] (new)

Peep - Do not Wiki Harry Potter or "that RobP movie"!

message 1277: by Lani (new)

Lani (crahfty) | 253 comments I'm currently reading The Secret Year by Jennifer Hubbard and digging it. I'm a little over halfway through and am nervous how it's all going to end...

message 1278: by Michelle (new)

Michelle (michellezink) | 168 comments Ohhh! LOVED The Secret Year. One of my favorites last year!

message 1279: by Rochelle (new)

Rochelle (itsmechelly) | 45 comments Jessica - You should start Wintergirls or Shiver. Leave Beautiful Creatures for last.

Terry (Ter05 TwiMoms/ MundieMoms) (ter05) | 374 comments I loved Shiver and it had the added bonus that I love anything about wolves. My most recent great read in YA is The Iron King. Loved it - about faeries and the "other world".

Heidi Emily wrote: "Oh, and I finished The Book Thief and really, really liked it. Thanks for telling me to keep going! :)"

Yeah!!

message 1282: by Laura Beth (new)

Laura Beth (tampabookworm) | 229 comments I started Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter yesterday after my husband read it and am really enjoying it! Gives you a whole new outlook on history! :-)

message 1283: by Laura (new)

Laura | 114 comments Well, I have to admit that I did wiki the most recent RobP movie and was really glad that I did!

But Harry Potter is a must-read.

message 1284: by [deleted user] (new)

Laura - Why are you glad that you Wiki'd it (without giving any spoilers away)?

Emily - I love Shiver! Can't wait for Linger!

Lani - I have The Secret Year on my TBR list so let me know how you like it when you're done. :)

message 1285: by Amanda (new)

Amanda Orlich Ahern (kittymeowxcore) | 56 comments I've been working on new releases lately. Just finished Radiant Shadows (LOVED it) and am now reading Burned.

message 1286: by Laura (new)

Laura | 114 comments Shannen, I was thinking about seeing it, but I don't think I will now. That one particular major event seemed a little...contrived? As if they did what they did for shock value. And because of it, I really don't think I would have liked the film.

Did you enjoy the movie, even considering the part that I'm referring to?

(Btw, I would never do that for a good book or even a movie I was genuinely excited about.)

message 1287: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Laura - that is what all the reviewers trashed in Remember Me. They said that "event"(I don't know what it is) was totally contrived and unnecessary.

message 1288: by Laura (new)

Laura | 114 comments Amanda, what did you think of the other Wicked Lovely books? How would you rate Radiant Shadows in comparison?

message 1289: by Laura (new)

Laura | 114 comments Hm, at least I'm on the same page with the reviewers! Are you going to see it, Heidi?

message 1290: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Laura wrote: "Hm, at least I'm on the same page with the reviewers! Are you going to see it, Heidi?"

Only if I get it for free on DVD!

message 1291: by Laura (new)

Laura | 114 comments Haha. Probably a good plan for you!

message 1292: by [deleted user] (new)

It's not the best movie I've seen but I enjoyed it. I liked the romance storyline as well as the sister's storyline. Rob Pattinson and Pierce Brosnan in one movie, what's not to love? LOL! I'll buy it as soon as it comes out on DVD. ;)

message 1293: by Teresa (new)

Teresa (teresainohio) Chelly wrote: "Jessica - You should start Wintergirls or Shiver. Leave Beautiful Creatures for last."

I think you should go for Beautiful creatures : )

message 1294: by [deleted user] (new)

Beautiful Creatures first, then Shiver. Save the best for last. :)

message 1295: by Peep (Pop! Pop!) (new)

Peep (Pop! Pop!) Shannen wrote: "Peep - Do not Wiki Harry Potter or "that RobP movie"!"

I can't remember who else is was that hadn't read them either??

message 1296: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Jaimie has not read them.

message 1297: by Peep (Pop! Pop!) (new)

Peep (Pop! Pop!) I think you guys should pick on her then. Is she reading them now I wonder?

I picked up two more books today. (not HP! I went to my town library, not the neighboring one). I have a problem. A serious problem.

message 1298: by Heidi (new)

Heidi I think you have a guilt complex. No one is picking on you Peep.

message 1299: by Peep (Pop! Pop!) (new)

Peep (Pop! Pop!) It's all of the subtle and not so subtle peer pressure that's getting to me.

message 1300: by Jaimie (new)

Jaimie (jaimier) | 1275 comments Yeah Peep, don't drag me down with you! Ha! I am going to read the first one but I have like 4 new releases at home and a couple others in the mail.
