Peep (Pop! Pop!) Well let us know when you do get to it :)

Mindy (mindylu) | 82 comments Currently listening to Jane Eyre just started so not sure what to think. I am re-reading Bloody Jack by L.A. Meyer as my workout-treadmill book and it is my favorite series. and I am about to start Nobody's Princess by Esther Friensner, anyone heard of it or know much about it?

message 1403: by Mindy (new)

Mindy (mindylu) | 82 comments Bloody Jack is the books I tell everyone to read young or old! Jacky is the best character!

message 1404: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Alright all you Bloody Jack fans. I will give it a try!

message 1405: by Mindy (new)

Mindy (mindylu) | 82 comments Am I not the only Bloody Jack Fan???

message 1406: by Laura (new)

Laura | 114 comments Mindy - I've got Bloody Jack on my TBR list. Sounds very promising!

message 1407: by Lani (new)

Lani (crahfty) | 253 comments I'm currently reading The Dark Divine. I'm only a few chapters in and I am throughly intrigued. I have already started guessing at some of the mysteries and I hope I'm wrong because I like being surprised.

Terry (Ter05 TwiMoms/ MundieMoms) (ter05) | 374 comments I'm a little late on the Beautiful Creatures book and haven't even rated it on my list. I read it before Christmas and it was okay, probably a three star. I agree, the cover draws you to the book! I just read another new book with a beautiful cover that I did not like at all, but it is getting five stars all over the place, so maybe just me?'

message 1409: by Peep (Pop! Pop!) (last edited May 13, 2010 08:05AM) (new)

Peep (Pop! Pop!) What's the other book Terry? Hush, hush? Shiver?

message 1410: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Mindy wrote: "Am I not the only Bloody Jack Fan???"

Ha Mindy! You have mentioned Bloody Jack so much, I think I just assumed more than one person mentioned it :) I plan to listen to it on audiobook, so I'll let you know what I think.

message 1411: by Heidi (new)

Heidi It's not just you Terry. My new rule is "Avoid books with pretty covers!"

message 1412: by [deleted user] (new)

Just finished The Secret Hour (Midnighters, #1) by Scott Westerfeld and I really liked it. Thankfully, it ended at a place where I don't have to read the second book right away because I have lots of books that I've been dying to read.

I'll be starting Angel Star by Jennifer Murgia this morning.

I read Nobody's Princess Mindy. It was alright. I liked it enough that I've got the second one on my tbr pile, but not enough to run out and get the entire series like I did with the Alanna books. It was refreshing to see Helen as a strong woman rather than an object to be fought over.

message 1414: by Jessica (new)

Jessica (roses7184) After all that I'm afraid to start Beautiful Creatures...lol. I read Shiver and finished it. I actually liked it! It was pretty heartfelt :).

Now I'm reading Seers of Light by Jennifer DeLucy and re-reading Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins at the same time.

message 1415: by Susan (new)

Susan I am reading Numbers by Rachel Ward and it is very very good!! I can't put it down!!!

message 1416: by Jessica (new)

Jessica (roses7184) Oh Susan you're lucky! I convinced my library to buy a copy but they are being soooo slow about it. Darn!

message 1417: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Susan - Numbers looks very intriguing.

message 1418: by Susan (new)

Susan It is sooo good! I started it an hour ago and guess what?? I'm on page 100 already!!!

message 1419: by [deleted user] (new)

I added Numbers to my TBR list. It looks interesting!

message 1420: by Susan (new)

Susan Read it read it read it!! I cant wait to see what happens!!! I havent been this excited about a book in a long time!

message 1421: by Mindy (new)

Mindy (mindylu) | 82 comments Just finishe Nobody's Princess, I gave it 3 stars. I'm with Becca on this one. I did get the second book from the library but I'm not ready to dive in.

My plan is to have everyone loving Bloody Jack as much as I do :)

Christina | 9 comments I am reading The Vampire Academy. SO far so good.

Even though I am an adult I love YA so any reccomendations would be great :)

Terry (Ter05 TwiMoms/ MundieMoms) (ter05) | 374 comments Peep wrote: "What's the other book Terry? Hush, hush? Shiver?"

The other book with a pretty cover that really disappointed me is Shadow of the Sun. And it has a lot of 5 stars from others so maybe just me although I have a friend who read it and pretty much felt the same way - she is not on here tho. The story is a good idea, but the wimpy sugary hero and some other parts of the development ruined it for me. I was kinder about it in my review than I really felt.

Laura Beth (tampabookworm) | 229 comments I've got 4 on my plate right now:
* Magic Study (page 99 of 400)
* I Am the Messenger (audio)
* Jane Eyre (page 248 of 502)
* Assassin's Quest (page 525 of 757)

message 1426: by Jessica (new)

Jessica (roses7184) Reminder to self: Don't start Catching Fire before bed.

I completely forgot how engrossing this book is! I'm done with Seers and also reading Alan's book now! (A Measure of Disorder)

message 1427: by Mindy (new)

Mindy (mindylu) | 82 comments Laura, how are you like Jane Eyre? I am listening to it on audio. I am really likeing it so far!

message 1428: by [deleted user] (last edited May 14, 2010 09:56AM) (new)

Has anyone else read Angel Star? I'm reading it right now and really like the characters but it has abrupt transitions that are confusing. I'm not a critical reader but I seem to notice this throughout this book. For example, the MCs will be standing in front of the school talking and in the next paragraph, the wind is blowing through her hair as they're driving down the road.

I think Heidi and Peep are influencing me!

Hey I just added it to my tbr pile! And I'm not that critical, am I? (Don't answer that!)

Brittany, I am loving Jane Eyre the language is beautiful. I think the reader is doing better than if were to read it myself. Do you have any thoughts on Wurthing Hights?

Brittany (finally graduated and can once again read for fun) | 1328 comments I posted a review of Wuthering Heights on the GR website (spoiler free). Definitely feel free to check it out. I went old school and read it though, so if you were looking for audio I can't really help you. It is however a fantastic book that I highly recommend! Just be prepared, it's NOT a feel good book like Jane Austen.

Mindy (mindylu) | 82 comments Thanks Brittany!

message 1437: by Priscilla (new)

Priscilla | 30 comments I have just finished reading Class Trip (Nightmares on Tape) by Bebe Faas Rice Teenagers stranded on a spooky Island, and death! in the style of the old 'Point Horror' Series I read as a teen. Really fast read, enjoyed.

Please let me know what you think Jessica, good or bad. My daughter took my proof copy to school on Friday and she said ten or fifteen of her friends wanted to read it : ) Hopefully that trend will continue. A Measure of Disorder I'm still looking for folks to read and review, so if you'd like to try out an eBook for free, just message me and I'll give you a code.

Yeah. My teacher said it was pretty gruesome. Is it?

Priscilla | 30 comments In reply to: "Has anyone read or heard anything of "The Last Apprentice" books by Joseph Delaney?"

Yes I have read the first book 'The Spooks Apprentice'. The author came to visit my local libary and a small group of us got chance to chat with him, and as him questions.(he also signed a bookmark!)I did not read the rest in the series though as I found parts to be a bit too gruseome for my liking. Probalbly not overly bad for most people, it just had a dark undercurrent that I didnt like, and I knew they got more gruesome as the book go on, as the author told us so himself! The reviews among the group thought it quite dark and deppressing for a YA book. I enjoyed the story and the way it was written, but 'Blood cakes' and missing limbs is not my thing so gave them a miss...Hope this helps a little :)

Both my son and I have read all of these books and have enjoyed them. I personally did not find them all that gruesome.

Alan (coachmt) | 72 comments .pdf and html are download options at Smashwords, but I understand if reading on a computer screen isn't your thing : ) I have print copies arriving on Thursday to me, so if anyone is dying for one (I can dream can't I?) please drop me a message.

message 1446: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Dare to Dream Alan. That is my life motto.

message 1447: by Jaimie (new)

Jaimie (jaimier) | 1275 comments I don't think I could read a whole book on the computer - my eyes start to strain after a couple chapters (hence the reason I still haven't finished Maria V. Snyder's Power Study online) but print would work for me!

message 1448: by Heidi (new)

Heidi I agree Jaimie. I can't read online. Print is my friend.

message 1449: by Jaimie (new)

Jaimie (jaimier) | 1275 comments Print will always be the standard but I have to admit on my trip home, my cousin had a kindle and I played around on it... now I really want one. Before I just kind of wanted one but well I think if my bf doesn't get me one for my birthday in August I may take that solo reading vacation we talked about in retaliation.
