Are you talking to me? I don't think I spoiled anything??

Mindy (mindylu) | 82 comments Peep what did you think of Curse of the Blue Tatoo? did you read the first one? Jacky is my favorite character ever!

message 1603: by Peep (Pop! Pop!) (new)

Peep (Pop! Pop!) No, not you Heidi. I think it was Pattee(all in book-love). I'll have to check the description to be sure.

Mindy I didn't read the first book, just that one. I actually liked it. I think I gave it three stars but it's probably worth at least four. Poor girl just couldn't catch a break it seemed. I didn't read the others because it's a long series (I have a love/hate thing with series) and I couldn't cope with her getting into so many cringe-worthy situations. (If that makes sense).

message 1604: by Kasia (new)

Kasia (kasia_s) I'm going to start reading "Lost It" by Kristen Tracy in 1 minute..

message 1605: by Mindy (new)

Mindy (mindylu) | 82 comments Peep, if you choose to read aother one read Mississippi Jack it is the best in the series and I think you picked the worst one for the situations she gets herself into but in all the books it is a new adventure!

message 1606: by [deleted user] (new)

I love Maggie Stiefvater too. Shiver was the best and Lament was really good too. Ballad was just OK for me. I hope Linger is just as good as Shiver.

I just finished Perfect Chemistry and really liked it. It has been a long time since I have read a normal (non-fantasy/PNR) YA romance. Lots of parts that made me cry. Each chapter alternated between Brittany's POV and Alex's POV, kind of live Shiver. I think Alex's POV made me more emotional than Brittany's. Very good YA romance.

Now, to figure out what I'm going to read next...

Jackie (jackie1301) | 75 comments Oh Shannen, PC is on my list to read as well... found that by random. Think I will soon go to this books as well. As I read about it I thought of it as kind of new Westside Story...

I added it to my tbr pile :)

I keep hearing so much praise about this I'm about to move it to the top of my tbr pile!

Laura | 114 comments Heidi wrote: "Laura - I am so upset!!! I just got the fourth book on audio today from the library. Now I will have to milk it out since it is the last good one. Why do author's insist on reading their own boo..."

Definitely enjoy it while you can, Heidi! The fourth one was really good! If you take out the fifth on audio, you'll have to let me know what you think of Ms. Rennison's rendition. I don't think I can listen to it. Stupid $2.25 audiobook...

Shannen - I like the sound of Perfect Chemistry! I'll also have to move it up on my TBR list. You know, maybe after the Fever books, lol.

message 1611: by [deleted user] (new)

Laura - AFTER the Fever books for sure! ;)

I'm going to start the second book of the Midnighters series Touching Darkness (Midnighters, #2) by Scott Westerfeld .

message 1612: by Jason (new)

Jason (foreverjuly) | 176 comments Just getting into The Sea of Trolls by Nancy Farmer. The book is just sucking me in. I can't wait to pick it up and start reading again!

message 1613: by Lani (new)

Lani (crahfty) | 253 comments I personally found Perfect Chemistry to be a bit cliched, but love everything else I've read from Simone Elkeles especially Leaving Paradise.

I just finished Endless Summer by Jennifer Echols. With the exception of the main character making a decision that seemed unneccessary toward the end of the book, I thought it was a great light read. I love other stuff that I've read from Echols and this was on par with her other works.

message 1614: by Laura Beth (new)

Laura Beth (tampabookworm) | 229 comments I am in a funk and not really enjoying much of what I am reading. I need a book that will knock my socks off! lol

message 1615: by Amanda (new)

Amanda Murphy | 96 comments I just finished Abhorsen (The Abhorsen Trilogy, #3) by Garth Nix by Garth Nix. I couldn't put it down. I am not the world's fastest reader, but I read it in one day. It's a great conclusion to the trilogy.

message 1617: by Beth (new)

Beth (goodreadscombeth_caron) This series was one the first fantasy books I read and I fell in love with these books. Lirael was my favorite, (being a dog person helped--I loved the Desreputable dog).
Can you think of anything along the lines of Abhorsen? I am looking for something with a similar feel.
Thanks

message 1618: by Laura Beth (new)

Laura Beth (tampabookworm) | 229 comments Have you read Wild Magic ??

message 1619: by Beth (new)

Beth (goodreadscombeth_caron) Yes. I liked that a lot too. I like Tamora Pierce. I haven't read all of her books--maybe I should look at the Becka Cooper series. Have you read them? Any other thoughts?

message 1620: by Laura Beth (new)

Laura Beth (tampabookworm) | 229 comments I've read everything by Tamora Pierce and loved them! I also love books with animals - Have you tried the Farseer Trilogy by Robin Hobb - the first one is Assassin's Apprentice.

message 1621: by Becca (new)

Becca | 1608 comments Oh! Those are a good series Laura. I really enjoyed them a few years ago and I'd like to read her other series about the same world, but I don't remember what its called.

message 1622: by Laura Beth (new)

Laura Beth (tampabookworm) | 229 comments I read the Soldier's Son trilogy but did not enjoy it nearly as much. It was very dark and depressing to me...

message 1623: by [deleted user] (new)

Lani - Any book with the whole "rich girl falls in love with the boy from the wrong side of the tracks" is definitely cliched but it worked for me. :)

Laura - Darkfever!!!!

message 1624: by Laura Beth (new)

Laura Beth (tampabookworm) | 229 comments Thx Shannen! I actually should be getting 'Kiss of the Highlander' in the mail today!

message 1625: by [deleted user] (new)

I read the first Highlander book of hers and they are nothing like the Fever series. It wasn't a bad book though. Just never would have thought they were written by the same author.

message 1626: by Laura Beth (new)

Laura Beth (tampabookworm) | 229 comments hmm - I was told to read the Highlander books first...

message 1627: by [deleted user] (new)

There are some characters in the Highlander series that relate to the Fever series but I don't think they really have any impact on the Fever series. Just my two cents! ;)

Same here but still not sure what to read first the "Perfect Chemestry" series or "Leaving Paradise"... All on my TBR... Think for the moment (after Ballad) I will move to some more adult stuff again... Have "Guild Hunter" and "Georgina Kincaid" waiting for me.

message 1630: by Peep (Pop! Pop!) (new)

Peep (Pop! Pop!) Jackie I'm going to start with Leaving Paradise because it's all I have right now. I hope I like it!

message 1631: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (jackie1301) | 75 comments Oh yeh, Peep, let me know... Found those series by random and read the description and found it very interessting and something other after all those fantasy stuff, which I also like a lot...

message 1632: by Peep (Pop! Pop!) (new)

Peep (Pop! Pop!) I really like it so far. I would never have picked this up on my own but it's surprisingly pretty good reading.

message 1633: by Traci (new)

Traci ugh. I just finished The Forest of Hands and Teeth and I did not like it at all. I found it boring and the characters and relationships were flat and unbelievable.

Anyone else feel this way? I've read a ton of positive reviews and I guess I just don't get it..

message 1634: by Teresa (new)

Teresa (teresainohio) Traci wrote: "ugh. I just finished The Forest of Hands and Teeth and I did not like it at all. I found it boring and the characters and relationships were flat and unbelievable.

I loved the beginning thought it was a very different story, but when the forest comes into the plot, it fell flat. I found it painful to finish.

message 1635: by Stormi (StormReads) (new)

Stormi (StormReads) (bmreviewsohmy) I just finished Jekel Loves Hyde by Beth Fantasky. I like this one a lot.

Now I am reading Faery Rebels: Spell Hunter by R.J. Anderson and Keeper by Kathi Appelt (middle grade books) Just started them so I have no opinion of them yet.

Yes!! I think we have a thread on it somewhere in this group. I hated it, and thought the protag was a complete psycho, but there were a bunch of people that liked it or at least thought it was ok.

message 1637: by Laura Beth (new)

Laura Beth (tampabookworm) | 229 comments I am reading Kiss of the Highlander and it is yummy! lol

message 1638: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (jackie1301) | 75 comments Started with Ballad...

message 1639: by Traci (new)

Traci Starting The Thief. Hopefully it's better than the last book I read..

message 1640: by Peep (Pop! Pop!) (new)

Peep (Pop! Pop!) Traci I really liked it. I think it started out slow but picked up eventually.

Starting Eighth Grade Bites.

message 1641: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Peep - let me know about Eight Grade Bites. I have been eying up that series.

message 1642: by Peep (Pop! Pop!) (new)

Peep (Pop! Pop!) So far I like it. I was hoping to finish it today but looks like I probably won't be done until tomorrow.

message 1643: by Jackie (last edited May 25, 2010 11:42PM) (new)

Jackie (jackie1301) | 75 comments Finished "Ballad" last night and started "Succubus Blues" by Richelle Mead, which is definitely not a YA book...

message 1644: by Dona (new)

Dona I really liked The Thief. Read the other two as well.

Heidi Starting Dancing in My Nuddy-Pants Even Further Confessions of Georgia Nicolson (Confessions of Georgia Nicolson, #4) by Louise Rennison on audio tonight.

message 1647: by [deleted user] (new)

Lani - Unwind was intense but really good. The characters were very likeable.

Perfect Chemistry is definitely better than Leaving Paradise.

message 1649: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Lana - the "video" for perfect chemistry is awful, but in a good way!

message 1650: by Peep (Pop! Pop!) (new)

Peep (Pop! Pop!) I think I might read Perfect Chemistry when I'm done with Eighth Grade Bites (really fast read btw).
