I didn't cry! I am a crier, so you probably won't. I don't get the battle royale either. It really isn't a sad or depressing book. The whole basis of the book, two children from each district fight to the death, is depressing. The book is not however

I just finished Speak, another good audiobook. It was REALLY powerful.

I'm starting on the "His Dark Materials" series. I just opened up Book 1. We'll see how it goes.

I've read the first two books in the Dark Materials series. The Golden Compass was okay - but I only managed to suffer through the second book. I only finished it on principle of not wanted to leave a book half read - plus I kept thinking that it would get better. It didn't. But who knows, everyone has different reading tastes. Good luck with it.

I can't wait to read this book. But somehow it keeps getting pushed back on my reading list.

That is how the Golden Compass is going so far. It's got some fairly interesting parts. But I'm finding that I'm forcing myself to open the book.

I'm always baffled by statements like this. The words "don't really like" and "never read" should never appear in the same sentence.
The Golden Compass was my favorite novel, in any genre, for any age group, for nearly a decade. I've seldom read anything as beautifully written. This opinion is shared by many thoughtful readers. Why would a fan of well-written YA books NOT be interested in reading it?

Are you equating listening to an audiobook with reading, or are you saying that you've listened to it and read it, both?

I just read Wicked Lovely, which I thought was wonderful, and Book of a Thousand Days, which was also quite fabulous. I'm next in line for The Hunger Games, which I'm pretty excited about. I also have City of Bones out from the library, which I will read as soon as I finish Fighting Ruben Wolfe and its sequel Getting the Girl, both of which are pretty short.
EDIT: I need to read The Golden Compass. My husband and I are driving to Las Vegas this week (22 hour drive).... I think I'll get the audiobook.... I think the version at my library is done by a full cast of voice actors...

Dialma-I just bought the Prophecy of the Sisters and can't wait to read it.
I just finished Catching Fire and will be starting How It Ends.

Ooh, cool! PROPHECY OF THE SISTERS is the next book on my to-read list. As soon as I finish the book I am currently reading I will dive into Prophecy. I hear great things about.

We will have to trade notes after! Let us know how City of Bones is. Also on my to-read list is Shiver, Something, Maybe and GhostGirl

Daisy-I enjoyed Shiver and though Something, Maybe was just ok.
Debbie wrote: "I just finished How It Ends by Laura Wiess and Demon Princess by Michelle Rowan. I enjoyed both although Demon Princess was pretty predictable.

Debbie, have you read Elizabeth Scott's other books?

I adore PERFECT YOU and STEALING HEAVEN

Anyway, currently I'm listening to Skybreaker, and working on The Thief Lord. Enjoying both, but Oppel is definitely becoming a new favorite author!

Oh and I am reading Madison Avery Book 1 at the moment.

Heidi - I am curious to see what you think about Catching Fire! I still need to read Hunger Games. But I have heard nothing but good things about both books!
