Yes, I read Shiver and liked it. It was different in style than I'm used to, but I really liked it.

So far with Lament, I guess I like it. I'm not quite sure yet. I didn't read what it's about so I have no idea where it's going!

I hated City of Bones and I never could finish Beautiful Creatures. I donated my copy to the library. Maybe one day I will finish it :)

Peep I like you:) I was starting to think that I was crazy since everyone on here liked City of Bones and Beautiful Creatures! I am about 100 pages into Lament and am totally confused - not sure about it. At least it is well written - City of Bones was written like a 9th grader wrote it. Beautiful Creatures had better writing, but I was never bought into the story. I liked Shiver, so I will finish Lament and let you know.

Heidi I'm on page 135 now and I think I like it. I don't know. It keeps getting interesting. It's just enough to want me to finish the story, just to see how everything will turn out! I want to see what this guy is up to!

I think I'm getting people off-topic, I have to check to see if there's a thread started already. Another one that I didn't like that everyone else seemed to was the Uglies series.

I just finished Tempted of the House of Night series. Good book...hated the ending!! I am currently reading Intertwined by Gena Showalter. I don't really have an opinion of it yet since I just started it. Has anyone else read it and have an opinion?

I'm curious about Intertwined too. I haven't read any of Gena Showalter's books before and this is on my TBR list.

I'm sort of the opposite of a lot of people here. I read both Shiver and Beautiful Creatures and I didn't love Shiver, while I adored Beautiful Creatures.

Anyway, right now I'm reading Marly's Ghost by David Levithan and I'll be starting The Line by Teri Hall tonight.

Beautiful Creatures was well written, but for some reason I felt "outside" the story never "in" it -- if you get my meaning. Both the books you are reading now sound very interesting - I have never heard of them. Let me know how they are. Thanks!

Shannen, I finished Lament last night and actually really liked it!

The 39 Clues is next on my list to read. Well, that or So B it. It depeneds on which one gets picked by eenie meenie miney moe. Yep, that's how I pick the next book when I have a bunch. :)

Heidi - I can see how you would feel that way about Beautiful Creatures. Maybe because it had elements of romance but was from a boy's perspective?

Peep - I really liked Lament too but Ballad is a different story. It was just OK for me. I really liked the characters in the story but felt like "just tell me how it ends already!"

Gena Showalter's adult romance novels are hit or miss so I'm reluctant to try Intertwined. Anyone like it?

I'm reading Beautiful Creatures right now. Looks like it's a love/hate sort of thing so I'm looking forward to seeing what camp I fall in.

Shannen - Thanks for the heads up about Ballad. Maybe I'll just find out what happens on Wikipedia, lol. My TBR list is long enough as it is!

What do you mean by it being a different story? It's not a continuation of Lament?

Chris - Sorry, I haven't read any of her books but I'm sure someone will come along that can tell you:)

Peep - By different story, I meant that I didn't love it like I did Lament. But you might really like it. It is the story of James, Deirdre's best friend, and Deirdre isn't in it very much. Don't let my review stop you from reading it. I didn't think it was bad by any means.

Chris - I'm curious to see what you think of Beautiful Creatures too. Be sure to keep us posted. I thought it was a solid 4* but it definitely seems to be a mixed bag.

Shannen - I think you may be right about the "guys perspective" being the problem. I also don't like love at first site books - and being from a guys perspective probably put the nail in the coffin. I mean how much did those two really know about each other? Why were they in love? Also - if their families wanted them to stay away from each other they sure didn't do anything about it. I'll stop now!

You're funny, Peep! I tend to just "enjoy the ride" when I'm reading and don't let my thoughts of reality intrude. Kind of like you KNOW what's going to happen in every Harry Potter book but it's so fun getting to the end. With Beautiful Creatures, the end must not have justified the means for you. Know what I mean?

Ok so I just finished Intertwined and really enjoyed it. I didn't know what to expect because I hadn't read anything by Showalter either. I am not a very critical reader and I don't over think what I am reading. Little character flaws and things like that don't get to me. And I am sure that there are people that will or have read it that hated it and the way it was written and so forth but I just am not like that. Anyway that being said I have to admit that the first 100 pages or so were a little slow even for me, you know the person that isn't very critical uh-um (LOL). But after that for me personally it began to soar. It is a definite must read especially if you like fantasy because this book is a world full of it. I am glad I picked it up in Wal-mart having not heard anything about it, definitely worth it. Just a warning though, I believe it is the first in a series that I have no clue when it will resume.

Just started listening to Drums, Girls, And Dangerous Pie on audio. Need to see what shelf to put it on - Books Peep recommended I hate - or I loved. Stay tuned.

Nice shelf Peep :) Guess I am going to be busy renaming all my shelves! p.s. I finished disk one out of four and it is really good so far - the narrator is very engaging.

I'm reading Incarceron by Catherine Fisher right now. It's amazing! Very Steampunk Gothic fantasy, and if you liked The Looking Glass Wars, you'd probably love Incarceron.

Incarceron is one on my TBR list, but I'm moving it up to the top of the list now. I'm loving The Looking Glass Wars series so far, still need to read ArchEnemy though, and if it's anything like it, I know I would love the book. Thanks, Michelle.

Okie dokie. I will say that I'm excited to read Drums, Girls, And Dangerous Pie. I have the feeling that I will need some YA after reading The Help as I have the feeling I will be bawling at the end of it. Although it sounds like Drums will leave me with a heavy heart too. We'll see!

I'm reading Impossible by Nancy Werlin. So far, I'm having some trouble getting into the story. Has anyone read this yet?

Victoria I read it and did not like it. I think it was just over-hyped. It was kind of weird and I don't know. It just wasn't that good. But I'm kind of hard on books so don't take my word for it.

One of the lines in book (I can't remember what else was in the sentence) but the guy used the phrase "He felt mated!" Groan, and double ugh!

Peep, I checked out the book from the library on recommendations from a couple of friends and the high reviews on Goodreads. It's not really my style, and I probably wouldn't have picked it up on my own. I'll continue with it (I have a hard time not finishing books!) and see how it goes. Thanks for your opinion!

Yay! So glad to hear others have liked this book. I loved it and was in love with Sam.

I'm currently reading book 3 of Percy Jackson and the Olympians. I like the story line, but I often find it predictable. My favorite part is the mythology and getting to know it all over again. Riordan has done a very good job in his personas for each of the gods, heroes and other mythical creatures.

I have read the books and watched the movie. I was a little disappointed in the movie as it didn't follow the book as much as I expected. I really liked the books, and The Subtle Knife, book 2, is my favorite of the series.
