I felt the same about the narrator at first but now after listening to three books I can't image anyone else doing the narration.

BTW books 4 & 5 are on Netgalley. I wasn't going to read book 4 and wait for the audio on March 27th but I couldn't. I broke down and read it. I just put in my request for book 5 which will be out in June.

LOVE this series.

And I will giving away winner's choice of audio book in the series during.

Jennifer (thebooknympho) I've checked out via my library

Cry Wolf (Alpha & Omega, #1) by Patricia Briggs

OMG. I'm so not listening to bk 2 in the Alpha & Omega series. I do NOT like the narrator. Thinking of stopping and starting over and read the book since I already have it on my Nook.

He is making the story so boring.

That's a shame, I know exactly how it feels when you don't like the narrator, but to be honest, anything would seem boring after the Downside Ghosts series.

I've not read it but it seems like EVERYONE (at least bloggers) are reading it. Some love it and some hate it. It seems like a book that you either love or hate. I've not seen a middle ground on this one.

Hey Loupe! Yes, I've read it and I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED it. There are a lot of mixed reviews, and I can definitely see some writing flaws, but the shape of the story and the intimacy of the relationship were on point for me. I'm reading the second one now and I'm loving it too. Quintessential page turner, for whatever reason, I couldn't seem to put this book down:)

Well, you just settled it for me, I was debating whether to read or listen to Fair Game & I see it's the same narrator. I enjoyed reading the other books, so I think I'll read this one too. ;-)

I remember loving Holter Graham's narration with some of the Dark Hunter series, but I hated his southern female voice in Dear John! I kept thinking of Dustin Hoffman in Toosie!

Cynthia (scent45) | 5 comments Just started Night Pleasures by Sherrilyn Kenyon. I just started the series. My library has most of The Dark Hunter series the rest I'll have to buy @ Audible.com. this one has Carrington (female) narrator it's o.k but I think I would like a male voice better ...maybea voice like Jeffery Cumming he narrated Burning Wild by Christine Feehan. All in all Carrington will do. I must have been living under a rock. This is my 1st Sherrilyn Kenyon Book. Love her!

I finished this morning City of Ghosts (Downside Ghosts, #3) by Stacia Kane looved it, great series, once you you get pass the heroine's need to constantly drugged herself (pills) to mute the pain from psychological wounds, you won't help but to love this series, she's not an easy character but you will feel her pain and you will fall in love with with the male lead.
It's a dark- in your face UF at its best.

Beth Hello everyone!
New here, and I'm listening to What Happens in London by Julia Quinn.
I'm fortunate enough to be able to listen at work (I work on a microscope) so I'll be finished shortly and on to the next one!

Beth :) What Happens in London (Bevelstoke #2) by Julia Quinn

Hi Beth! Welcome to the group.
Let us know what you thought after you're done. I have only listened to one of Julia Quinn's novels Just Like Heaven (Smythe-Smith Quartet #1) by Julia Quinn , but I wasn't crazy about it, I love the narrator (Rosalyn Landor) she did a great job, I just found the characters a little flat.
I'm always open to good Historical romance.

Ok, so I was listening to Mind Games (The Disillusionists Trilogy, #1) by Carolyn Crane but my God! I'm having a horrible time with the narrator, I don't even know if I can continue, she sounds all wrong for the character, her pace is terrible and the over all tone of the story seems wrong. Is a real shame b/c I've heard so many good things about this novel.
Please if one of you have listened to it, let me know what you thought, maybe I need to give it more time.
So I started to listen to No Rest for the Wicked (Immortals After Dark, #3) by Kresley Cole only on chapter 3, but I'm liking it..hell I'm loving it. I read it a long time ago, and is so nice to re-visit.
It just came out today.

message 530: by Beth (new)

Beth Hi there!
It seems I've listened to several of hers and liked them, but I almost put this one away. I'm glad I didn't. It's not phenomenal, but there have been a few chuckles from me here and there and it's pretty typical of books like this. I think what I hated was that the awful prologue took up almost an entire cd (out of 8). If it's the same narrator as the one you listened to, she is very good. The family in the series you started is mentioned in this one.
For romance such as these, I think I prefer Johanna Lindsey. But I go through them so fast I'm limited to whatever I can get from the library. :)

And how do you get the book covers to show in your messages? This group is the first time I've seen that! I know it might be on some of the other threads, but i'm very late getting to bed and was just checking in.

Thanks for the welcome!

At the top of the comment box, on the right, it says addbook/author, just click on that, a new window will come up, do a search for the book you want to add, at the bottom of that window make sure you press the cover button, and after you click post, your book cover will appear.
I did this in another audiobook group (just regular audiobooks) and the commander (LOL) told me that wasn't permitted,( he wasn't very nice about it) so I never went back :)

Thanks for the info! And that was rather silly of him, and rude too!

message 533: by Beth (new)

Beth btw, I like seeing the covers because, especially with romance novels, I have a hard time remembering the titles! Sometimes when I see the cover I remember the entire story, but if I saw just the title I'd have no idea if I'd read it.
Thanks again!

Beth What Happens in London (Bevelstoke #2) by Julia Quinn was a little bit ho-hum at times, but kind of cute. There was some dialogue that had me lol at times, but there really needed to be more like that. I like novels set in this time period, so I will search out more. I had read the one right after this already, and liked it better.

Now I am reading Moonlight Road (Virgin River, #11) by Robyn Carr , which is probably my third from the Virgin River novels. I like them, but kind of jumped in the middle with checking out whatever was in at the library. I've found 19 so far, I think, so time to hunt down the others. :)
