Last night I finished listening to Just Imagine (Revised) (Formerly Titled,"Risen Glory") by Susan Elizabeth Phillips , I really enjoyed it.
The Narrator was downright excellent, great performance, I think I have mention to you before, when you listen to a talented narrator, you forget someone else is reading and you get completely consumed by the story, and that’s what happened to me with this book, I finished it in one day, so for once I’m at a lost on how I should go about my recommendations for this book, I guess the easiest way to put it is; if you are expecting this to be a typical book from SEP, this is not the book for you, but if you want a departure from a typical romance novel I think you will truly enjoy this book, and let me say, I’m so glad I listen to it instead of reading it, Christine MacMurdo ‘s narration took this book to a whole different level. She did a terrific job with the male character’s voices.

Goodness! It has been years and years since I read that book; maybe I'll give it a "re-read" via audio. Thanks, Lupdilup!

Christine (Cagnes) (cagnes) | 131 comments I'm listening to Paradise Valley (Virgin River, #7) by Robyn Carr ... found a few audiobooks of this series at the library & decided to give them a try.

Sandi *~The Pirate Wench~* (thepiratewench) I picked up for $2.00 at a library sale The Ravenscar Dynasty by Barbara Taylor Bradford dont know if its any good..but I have a long drive out to visit my son..so III give it a listen.

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 296 comments Call Me Irresistible by Susan Elizabeth Phillips - I like the narrator! It is Shannon Cochran; I don't think I've heard her before.

message 107: by Ruth (new)

Ruth | 4 comments Lisa, my library lets me pick 7, 14, or 21 day checkout - i use 7 day so get much more "reading" done. ( our library uses Overdrive.)

message 108: by Lisa Kay (new)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 296 comments Ruth, Mine does the same thing. I always choose 21 days. I need to get more organized with where/when I slot the books for my challenges and choose 7. I was in a long line to get Call Me Irresistible by Susan Elizabeth Phillips and I got it much sooner than I thought...so others ahead of me must have selected 7.

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 296 comments I'm currently listening to the second in the Cedar Cove series, 204 Rosewood Lane (Cedar Cove, #2) by Debbie Macomber . The narrator is Sandra Burr and I believe she did the previous one. She is very good with the different voices. I am also doing this as a "buddy read" which is a lot of fun.

Dead Reckoning (Sookie Stackhouse, #11) by Charlaine Harris

Re-listening to:
Sugar Daddy (Travises, #1) by Lisa Kleypas
this is truly a great listen.

Sandi *~The Pirate Wench~* (thepiratewench) Lisa Kay wrote: "Sandi, Did you listen to it on audio?"

No..I have all the books..LOVE EM! my first "listen-to" book has been Wizard's First Rule (Sword of Truth, #1) by Terry Goodkind I was very disapointed as I have read the first 4 books in the series ( there is 11 in total) and now that the series is done I thought I would re-read-listen..but..parts were cut out! does this happen with audio books? if I didnt know the 1st book so well I wouldnt have known..I hope they dont cut parts when its in audio form do they?

message 118: by Lisa Kay (new)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 296 comments Sandi, Look to see if they are abridged (shortened) or unabridged (original, uncut). Sometimes these different versions will also have different narrators, which I find interesting.

Sandi *~The Pirate Wench~* (thepiratewench) Ahh!! thanks Lisa Kay..that would explain it then. And next time I will look for that!:) I also found it weird when the male narrator was also the "female character voice"..didnt quite work in this book..do they also only use one narrator?

message 120: by Lisa Kay (last edited May 07, 2011 07:53PM) (new)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 296 comments Some books only use one; some mix it up with male and female. I think more and more audiobooks are going this way as more and more people listen to audiobooks, and people complained so much. Some narrators can pull it off, some can't.

Someone posted on here somewhere (I think it was Christine S.) that she listened to an anthology where each story was read by a different narrator.

Listening to Bite Club (The Morganville Vampires, #10) by Rachel Caine
This is YA series, but I've been hooked on it since the first book.

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 296 comments Haven't read anything by J.D. Robb in years, so I thought I'd try something I'd already read, but on audio. Starting with the first in the series:
Naked in Death (In Death, #1) by J.D. Robb

Narrated by Susan Ericksen - who is doing a great job so far!

Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen Glory in Death (In Death Series #2) by J.D. Robb

I'm in the mood for some SEP next... shooot!! I've listened to all already.. If you haven't listen to any of her books, oh God they're great!! ( this is not a payed commercial) I just love her books, and what a great introduction it was for me to contemporary romance. Have any of you ever listen to her books?

message 137: by Lisa Kay (new)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 296 comments I listened to one, Lup. Call Me Irresistible by Susan Elizabeth Phillips It was well narrated, but I wasn't in love with the story line like I have been in the past with SEP. Maybe my tastes are changing. SEP always, always, always has such great secondary characters. In fact, she is why I started a shelf "amazing-secondary-characters". Also, I couldn't really get into them b/c they all hated Meg. Well except for one and she [big spoiler here] (view spoiler).

Oh! Lisa!! I'm i'm afraid I not following you, I don't understand " hated Meg" , I'm trying to think of Meg. can you tell me?

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 296 comments Lup, Meg Koranda is the heroine in Call Me Irresistible. She is despised by the citizens in Wynette, Texas. Here is my review: LK's Review of CME.

Great review!! now that you pu it that way!.. lol,
I felt in love with her Chicago series, my favorite is "Heaven Texas", I went back and listen to all her other books after that one, if you haven't listen to that one, give it a chance and then tell me what you think. The narrator for that book was superb, unfortunately she passed away.. sad story.

Lisa Kay, I read this one, but I agree, I missed not having the secondary characters, and was REALLY put off by the way Meg was treated, and by characters that I had loved in the past!:( I have not listened to any SEP on Audio, do they use good Nar.?

Also Lupdilup I just got Catching Fire (The Hunger Games, #2) by Suzanne Collins from the lib on friday and can't wait to listen to it! (I have read it, but am revisiting it because of all of the hype from the movie!) They picked Woody Harrelson to play Haymitch! Perfect:)

oh my God!! the previous narrator for SEP was just fantastic, I think just about every book she narrated it's among my favorites, you should try one that was narrated by "Anna Fields AKA Kate Fleming"
She narrated the entire Chicago stars series.

Woodie Harrelson! great choice.

message 147: by Lisa Kay (new)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 296 comments Shellbelle, I made a comment on your review of Call Me Irresistible; I concur!

I am going to have to check and see if San Francisco Public Library has some of SEP's audios that they have share with my library. I wouldn't mind experiencing the Chicago stars series again by listening to it.
