Happy Birthday Lisa & congrats on your new ipod! I love my nano, so easy to carry it around! Took me a little while to figure it out too. When I first got it, I turned it on accidentally & couldn't figure out how to turn it off... had to get my teenage nephew to rescue me, lol!

@ Christine & Xe
I have only been able to listen to 4 chapters so far, I have family from out-of-town until next Tuesday, I probably won't be able to listen much, going to Destin,Fl for the weekend too, but I can tell you one thing right now, the narrator is superb, if I'm not mistaken I think he also reads the Harry Potter books.

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 296 comments Currently listening to Cold Sassy Tree by Olive Ann Burns .

Received an iPod for my b-day so I'm going to the library to pick up:
The Peach Keeper by Sarah Addison Allen Smooth Talking Stranger (Travises, #3) by Lisa Kleypas

STS I absolutely LOVED and have read a gazillion times. But I want to copy it.

Also:
Glory in Death (In Death, #2) by J.D. Robb - to plug that hole in the series for me.

I was listening to Supernatural (Lords of Deliverance, #1.5; Demonica, #5.5; Guardians of Eternity, #7.5; Nightwalkers, #1.5; Dragon Kin, #4.5) by Larissa Ione but then this came out The Darkest Surrender (Lords of the Underworld, #8) by Gena Showalter so I'm in the last chapter, and if you are a fan of The Lords of the Underworld you're going to love this entry, and of course Max Bellmore is fantastic as usual.

Big hipe on audible about The Rose Garden by Susanna Kearsley has anyone read this before? I'm really curious they are comparing it to Outlander, and that's one of my fav. books ever.

Just finished the book & enjoyed it, but it doesn't compare to Outlander. The time travel & the Jacobite supporter aspects are similar, but it doesn't have the epic romance & relationship that Jamie & Claire have. It started out pretty slow, but redeemed it's self in the end... I liked the ending. I listened to a sample on audible & liked the narrator, I love accents & think this would be a good one to listen to. :-)

Christine (Cagnes) (cagnes) | 131 comments I currently listening to... A Dance With Dragons (A Song of Ice and Fire, #5) by George R.R. Martin , love this series!

I Love that series too! I'm taking my time with the second book, I want to finish just a few days before the second season begins, I just hope I don't get disappointed after listening to book with the tv series, that often happens, the books are always so much better.

Christine (Cagnes) (cagnes) | 131 comments I think they did an amazing job with season 1, of course the book was better, but they did stay pretty true to the book.

I think having read A Game of Thrones made watching the series more enjoyable. I probably would have been a little lost in watching it if i didn't already know what was going on.

That's good to know Christine, I didn't read or listened to first book, and I love the tv series, and I guess they did a gob job on HBO.

Christine (Cagnes) (cagnes) | 131 comments I think it's a good idea to read the books 1st, you'll understand the series better There are so many characters & background in these books that a TV show can't cover. For me it didn't spoil anything by having read the book, it made me feel a closer bond to the characters in the tv series. Plus there's Khal Drogo.... yum! ;-)

Your friends didn't like it Lisa? see, I love the tv show just like some people tha never read the Sookie's books love true blood, but after having read the books, all I can think of every time I watch a True blood episode is "That didn't happen in the book!!" lol... my husband tells me all the time, if it makes so mad why do you keep watching it..lol, like he doesn't slow down at a scene of and an accident just to see if he sees blood and be horrified and thankful that it's not him.. lol. that's how I feel about true blood it's horrible but I can't help watching it, I like to see how much more bizarre the writers can get..lol..but I'm glad Christine liked Game of Thrones after reading the books, that makes me feel a lot less concerned about ruining a good thing.

Apparently, it has to be converted to an MP3 file before it can play on the Ipod, you need special software to do that, I don't know if you want to go to the trouble.

Christine (Cagnes) (cagnes) | 131 comments Lupdilup wrote: "Thanks Christine! I'll check it out, I'm always glad to find good listens."

You're welcome! I've read a few reviews stating that the switching of the story between past & present was confusing. I think that in this case the audiobook is a good choice, since it's easy to follow the different & distinct voices of the narration. Plus I'm a sucker for a Scottish accent! ;-)

message 343: by Lisa Kay (new)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 296 comments The Winter Sea by Susanna Kearsley , by Susanna Kearsley looks interesting, Christine. The post says she is like Thomas Raddall, Daphne Du Maurier, and Mary Stewart. I know the last two and love them. Hmmmmm...

I can't wait for Scandalous Desires (Maiden Lane #3) by Elizabeth Hoyt on audio
I read it and it was soooo goood!

Christine (Cagnes) (cagnes) | 131 comments Lisa, I haven't read anything by those authors, so I couldn't say if her style was similar. I have read The Rose Garden by Susanna Kearsley The Rose Garden & really liked it. I plan to read more of her work!

Lupi... should have known that a Scottish accent would get you!

message 347: by Lisa Kay (new)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 296 comments Well, Daphne Du Maurier, and Mary Stewart but quite a bit of mystery into their books... does it have a lot of that element, Christine?

Christine (Cagnes) (cagnes) | 131 comments Lisa, no "who done it" type mystery, at least in these 2 books. There is some intrigue, maybe a just little suspense. The common thread with these books is the past. The Rose Garden through time travel & The Winter Sea through ancestral memory. The past seems to be a big part of most of her books.

message 349: by Lisa Kay (new)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 296 comments Are they romance? With a HEA?

Christine (Cagnes) (cagnes) | 131 comments Yes, romance, but very tame romance. The Rose Garden was a HEA, loved the ending! Not sure about The Winter Sea, I'm not at the halfway point yet.
