Jackie Croci (jcroci) | 1 comments Read Unbroken about a famous olympic runner who gets drafted in 1939 and what he had to overcome as well as all of the men. Out to sea for 52 days in raft, captured by Japanese torture camp for 6 years; it was am amazing story and was true. Makes you appreciate your life. Everyone should read it. Now reading more of my favorite Lee Child books with the strong and sexy Jack Reacher......sigh.

I read a sample of Paranormalcy and it seemed fun. I was going to download the rest but then I had to read the Hunger Games and Shiver for the group read and I got sucked into two trilogies and forgot all about it!

Everly Anders | 4 comments I'm reading the second book in the Game of thrones series. I guess it is actually called the Fire and Ice series. I love it. As a fantasy writer myself, I love to see great fantasy out there. This series is a huge commitment but well worth the time. The second book is turning out to be as good as the first.

and thank you for my party char!! i felt like celebrating too.

i did think it was a good book. all the stuff i thought was trivial in the beginning was much needed information at the end. once all the pieces clicked, i was like...."good one!" i haven't seen the movie, so i don't know if you saw the movie, how much of the book would you already know. i know it's a series but i have no desire to read anymore of the series. i'm good with just the one book. does that make sense?

message 825: by Char (new)

Char (CharmaineElaine) Lol, Lara, I like throwing parties for random things. I thought you might, we all do when we finish a book we've had trouble with. :)

Finally finished Gail Carriger's "humorous, romantic, steampunk adventure". God, that was a slog. Char, you need to read it and see whether you consider it funny. (I thought the first book was pretty funny at times, after that I think it has become tame American humour masquerading as British humour.)

Making my way through Les Liaisons dangereuses for school. A bit odd so far, but I like the different tones in the letters.

Still reading Wolfsangel - I'm alternating: a few pages of English, a few pages of French!

How did you like Divergent?

I have just started
1984 by George Orwell as I have been going through a dystopian phase and thought I should really go back to the origins of the genre.

message 840: by Jeshu (new)

Jeshu (jeshusauria) I love 1984!

message 841: by [deleted user] (new)

Jeshu wrote: "I love 1984!"

I've only read the first few pages and already the atmosphere is really intense and the imagery is really vivid. I think I'm going to like it :)

message 842: by Char (new)

Char (CharmaineElaine) I'm having issues with reading but I am (meant to be) reading

Rumours (Luxe, #2) by Anna Godbersen by Anna Godbersen - This is a re-read for my blog. Unfortunately the series isn't as good as I remember and was obviously read before I turned jaded.

Bunker by Andrea Maria Schenkel by Andrea Maria Schenkel - My mum wants to lend this so I've pushed it to the top of my TBR. The things I do for my mummy. :)

Little Dorrit by Charles Dickens by Charles Dickens - My current audiobook. I shall listen to this as I make my blanket. The blanket is looking good. I have 18 rows to go. XD

So there we have what I'm reading. I don't know why I explained why I was reading them but hey ho.

message 843: by Jeshu (new)

Jeshu (jeshusauria) Today I went to the library and took A Game of Thrones (A Song of Ice and Fire, #1) by George R.R. Martin for the buddy read :)
I'm also reading American Gods by Neil Gaiman and Legend of the Golden Witch (Umineko no Naku Koro ni #1) by 07th Expansion (although this is not a book, but a weird visual novel). Oh, and Wolfsangel. I'm proud to announce that I'm near the end :D

Crochet. :)

message 849: by P. (new)

P. I read a lot of non-fiction, but this summer I became intrigued with the Song of Ice and Fire. I read all 5 in the series, thoroughly enjoyed them, and have started again in the first GOT because I love the way GRR does cliff-hangers - although they're not quite as exciting the second time around! Thee is a 6th being written and I'm sure I'll enjoy that too.
