Caressed by Ice is widely regarded as the best Psy-Changeling book, so I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

Christina (AKA Babbling) (babblingbookreviews) | 1242 comments Sarah wrote: "Mmm you should definitely take his name tag!! Does he look like the Beast Lord?? haha ..."

No..he's got dark hair.

It would be impossible to steal it. :D I mean, it's on his shirt front practically under his nose. I'm not that nimble and the sound Velcro makes would give me away. :-D

Plus, he's a *coughgreenberetcough*, so he'd crush me. ;-D

message 555: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments Christina, think dirty, *cough not that dirty cough* but think of a way to steal it when he's not in it. Don't they have to change and do stuff at some point. Locker Rooms hmmm.

Otherwise you'll have to distract him, falling against him and ripping it off, when another loud noise is happening. hahaha

Get creative girl!

message 556: by Sarah (new)

Sarah Dizon (sarahd828) | 1376 comments Sandra has some great ideas! You can totally fake like you're tripping and then fall into him. Drop some stuff and while he's catching you just pull off the name tag. :D

Thenia | 977 comments Or you could bat your eyelashes at him and ask him nicely! :P

message 559: by Sarah (new)

Sarah Dizon (sarahd828) | 1376 comments Thenia, you're so smart! Here we are trying to devise these outrageous plans to steal the name tag when she could ask him for it! I don't know why that didn't come up before. haha

Ooh Christina, maybe if you go dressed as Kate his inner Curran would recognize you and give you the name tag! LOL.

message 560: by Thenia (new)

Thenia | 977 comments Dressed as Kate? If he sees her carrying a sword Kate-like he just might crush her after all! :P

message 561: by Sarah (new)

Sarah Dizon (sarahd828) | 1376 comments Thenia, you brought up a good point, but I was thinking of leaving the sword at home hahaha more of just dressing like her or acting like her. Although, I don't think Kate would be comfortable leaving her sword at home even if it was for Curran. :)

Christina (AKA Babbling) (babblingbookreviews) | 1242 comments ....ookay... :D

"uniform left in the office" -- This would have worked IF we were still in our old, leased-space offices in Virginia. They commuted to/from work in civilian clothes. Now, though, it's more practical to leave the gym bag in the car and visit the gym during lunch.

"Tripping" -- geez, now I have to fill out OSHA paperwork (the occupational safety people). Thanks guys. ;-)

"sword" -- I can see the headlines now "Government Employee Brings Sword to Work". :D

"Eye-lash batting" and the like -- Not going there. Two words: sexual harassment. Plus, he's married.

"ask": "Can I have your name tag?"
"Uh, why?"
"....(thinking how to explain without sounding mentally unhinged)...Let me get back to you on that one, okay?"

Fool-proof back-up plan: wait to see if he gets business cards made. :D

BTW, last duty station...Japan. So that means he was there during the earthquakes. EDIT TO ADD: I'm sure we'll talk about it in the office.

Sandra | 25908 comments ROFLMAO!!!!!!

Perhaps you can meet the wife and see if she is amenable to a lost *coughconfiscatedcough* name badge.

You'd have to be really convincing though (have a copy of one of the books on you) so she doesn't get any funny ideas. You don't need the hassle.

message 564: by Thenia (new)

Thenia | 977 comments Oh, come on! You don't have to sound mentally hinged, do you? :P
In any case, can't you just take a pic of the name tag to show us all? Pretty please? He doesn't have to know - use your inner spyness and ninja stealth!

message 565: by Sarah (new)

Sarah Dizon (sarahd828) | 1376 comments Business cards are probably going to be your best bet Christina. But all of the hi-jinks involved with trying to get the name tag would be great fun! haha

Tempest's Legacy by Nicole Peeler ****/5 05.12.11

I love the Jane True series, and this is definitely my favorite in that series so far. Jane is definitely coming into her own with this book, and I love the direction the series seems to be going. Can't wait for the next one!

Tempest's Legacy (Jane True, #3) by Nicole Peeler

Sarah Dizon (sarahd828) | 1376 comments For the Paranormal Romance shelf I finished Nightkeepers by Jessica Andersen.

Nightkeepers (Final Prophecy, #1) by Jessica Andersen

Hmm.. I gave it 3 stars only because I'm not really sure how I feel about it. I really enjoyed Strike and Leah as a couple but it was hard to get into it. The first 200 pages were tough to get through but I eventually did. After that I didn't want to put it down! I will be reading the next one (mostly because I own it) but I have a feeling I won't be reading Nightkeepers again. After the next book I'll decide if I want to continue with the series.

Laura Lulu (lauralulu) | 1603 comments Sorry I've been lax, guys--it's been a busy week around here. And I'm not getting notifications! Dumb Goodreads. :(

I finished my Paranormal Romance book earlier in the week, just never popped in to leave my review. Oops. I finished it at 2am and quickly wrote a review based on my shock, so I will share that off-the-cuff, first impression review with you all. ;)

Paranormal Romance

Hard Bitten (Chicagoland Vampires, #4) by Chloe Neill finished May 10 ★★★★

WTF?!?!?!? I knew there was going to be craziness at the end of this book, but truly, I had no idea. Holy crap.

And that is my review. Because I don't even remember what happened in the first 300 or so pages, after that insane literary bitchslap. Wow.

Lol! If you are planning on reading this book, do it quickly--I have a feeling that the crazy twists at the end are not going to stay silent for long. People will be gabbing about this all over Goodreads, and not everyone spoiler tags stuff.

Consider yourself warned. ;)

It's not a cliffhanger, per se, so waiting to read this one until you have the next one in November really won't make much difference, IMO. And I don't think the spoiler will stay hidden until November.

Off to get my kids on the bus, then I'll get the team post updated.

There's just no way that it will stay hidden! I'm avoiding spoilers like cats avoid water and I still read something spoiler-y! Thankfully it wasn't a big deal but I still got annoyed. If you're going to read the book, really, do it quickly! It would suck if someone spoiled it for you. Plus, you'd miss the WTF?! reaction the rest of us had and we can't have that now, can we?

Btw, I'm still shocked by what Laura Lulu very aptly named an insane literary bitchslap! Kudos to Chloe Neill for her huge titanium -ahem- balls!

Laura Lulu (lauralulu) | 1603 comments I was like you, Thenia--I found myself thinking about it for days.

And one of my Goodreads friends called it a "literary junkpunch". Lol!

Christina (AKA Babbling) (babblingbookreviews) | 1242 comments Just a quick post, before I leave work -- I finished Visions of Heat on 12 May 11. I tried to write something up during lunch, but people insisted on having conversations near my desk and it was hard to concentrate (if I hear one more conversation about that dang PCS* gift....). Some time later tonight, I'll have it up, so Steph can give us our stamp.

And if Steph was truly EVIL, she'd "accidently" remove, from the list she imputs into Mr. R, all the shelves that would give ANY team a bingo -- thus EXTENDING the DRAMA and the SUSPENSE ONE. MORE. WEEK.

Whatever shelf is called, I hope Caressed by Ice is on it.

*=permanent change of station <-- I speak fluent military-ese. ;-)

Christina (AKA Babbling) (babblingbookreviews) | 1242 comments Visions of Heat (Psy-Changeling, #2) by Nalini Singh
Visions of Heat - 12 May 11 ★★★★★

It's been a little over two years since I read the first book in Singh's Pys/Changeling series. Even so, I was able to pick this one up without any problems.

Though the plots are similar, I really thought this book flowed better because it wasn't encumbered with all the world-building and character introductions that the first book had.

I liked Faith and Vaughn. I thought she was a stronger person than she gave herself credit for, even when afraid. I liked her interactions with the NetMind. I thought Vaughn was more balanced, too -- yes, he was possessive and dominate, but he knows when to put the brakes on his jaguar as well.

I'm really looking forward to reading this series.

Sooooo...when will this new secret game start? Beginning of June?

That's cool, Sarah. Re-reads are allowed as long as the book is on the shelf. :)

Babbling AKA Christina wrote: "Sooooo...when will this new secret game start? Beginning of June? "

I'm not sure actually. I need to review my notes and make sure it's good to go. But, sometime in June, if not the beginning of the month, should work. I'll make an announcement as soon as it's written up in a way that will (hopefully) make sense to everyone. :)

I'll drop a coupl'a tidbits ... it'll require team members to stay on top of their reads because the game will move fast. Those that can (and are willing to) read a book a week will have no problems keeping up.

And, I'll soon be asking for everyone's suggestions for categories.

Stay tuned ~ Details coming soon. :)

Storm Glass by Maria V. Snyder ****/5 05.17.11

I loved the Study trilogy, and if the next 2 books in the Glass trilogy are this good, I'd call it a worthy successor. I liked Opal in the Study books, but she definitely comes into her own in this book. I really like Kade, and I hope we get to see more of him in the next 2 books. (view spoiler)

Storm Glass (Glass, #1) by Maria V. Snyder

message 599: by Laura Lulu (new)

Laura Lulu (lauralulu) | 1603 comments I am going to read Hounded (Iron Druid Chronicles, #1) by Kevin Hearne for my Fantasy SciFi book. I was right in the middle of a 600 pager when the shelf was called, so I'm lagging a bit. But I should have this sucker finished by Friday at the latest.

I just went and checked the Sixie Chicks progress and they still need to read a Vampire shelf book and 3 Fantasy SciFi books, so they don't have Bingo yet. And there are 3 different shelves that can give us Bingo on the next shelf announcement, so if we cranked that book out we still have a chance. ;)
