Camille (camlovesraptors) | 802 comments So,

I have been having a lot of thoughts lately (or perhaps all the time because when are we ever not thinking...?) but having been raised Christian I strayed away to some extent as I grew a bit older, though I always believed God existed.

Lately, since I have gotten into book reviewing and reading a lot more since so many of the books have been Christian based I feel like it is God's way of calling me back into His fold...

I know it is not totally crazy like my title implies, He works in mysterious ways, but does anyone else ever feel like this is His way of keeping us with Him...?

Kristy (riverunbroken) | 250 comments Yes, that makes total sense. I think He uses Christian Authors to bring people to Him and bring us back to Him when we stray away.

Rachel Brand (pixieauthoress) Camille, I completely understand what you mean. I think that reading Christian fiction keeps God in my life everyday. I'm really bad at remembering to do daily Bible readings and praying more than just before I go to bed, but I find that reading about other Christians growing in their walk with God helps me and inspires me. After all, isn't it called "Inspirational Fiction"? :) Sometimes I'll write down a verse or a thought from a book I'm reading because it particularly speaks to me. Last night I was reading Lilly's Wedding Quilt by Kelly Long and there was a wonderful passage about what God means marriage to be that I had to highlight on my Kindle. So yes, I definitely think that God can speak to us through books and help us to draw near to him.

Diane U (djuseless) Camille, it is not crazy at all! I too was raised Catholic and I have strayed. I believe in God but I have not practiced or gone to church unless it was for a wedding or funeral. I was even married in the church (15 years ago tomorrow!!!) but it was mostly to make our parents happy.

Since I have been reading Amish ficiton and Christian fiction, I have found that I have been interested in reading the bible and daily devotionals (when I remember) on my kindle. I find it to be very peaceful!

Have you found a bible for your kindle yet? Here is what I have:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003...

It was free back in the spring or summer and is $7.99 now. It has direct verse access so it is easy to find things quickly.

Here are some others that are currently free:

1) http://www.amazon.com/Holy-Bible-HCSB...

2) http://www.amazon.com/Bible-English-S...

Personally, I would try using one of these first, since they are free, before I purchased one.

Sarah (misscalico) | 128 comments I find that reading Christian fiction helps me to focus on God more often than perhaps I would if I was continually reading secular novels. I do, however, have to re-prioritize if I find myself replacing Scripture reading time for Christian fiction reading time.
