Challenge: 50 Books discussion

Fifty books, that's like a book per week. It may be difficult because I'm in school, but I'm on Spring Break and I'll try to get a jump on it. Is it fair for me to count a book I just finished yesterday, since I'm just going from March to March? I just read The Wasp Factory by Iain Banks, and I want to cash that book IN.

Oh, Palahniuk! What did you think of Fight Club?

I liked it, but I knew the story so well that it didn't surprise me. There were some differences between the book and the movie, but I couldn't get the movie out of my head and I just kept picturing Brad Pitt, Edward Norton and Helena Bonham Carter. (And Meatloaf.) I think I would have liked it more if I hadn't seen the movie first. Would you suggest any of his other books?

Sorry, I got a bit off-track with GR. Palahniuk recommendations! I'd suggest Survivor and Invisible Monsters . I've been meaning to re-read his books for ages. I'll try to get to them this year. Haven't read a Palahniuk in ages!

How did Lady in the Lake compare with The Big Sleep, Jesse? I really enjoyed The Big Sleep and have been intending to pick up some of his others.

I liked it, but I was definitely more into The Big Sleep. This book is different because much of it takes place outside of the city in the mountains. I would recommend it, but I wish I had read another one of his LA based stories first. I think the next one I check out will be The Long Goodbye.
