The Diabolical Reading Challenge Nominations (2012)
Mmmmmm well ok what about 25 year old, studying part time, loves reading, loves animals, loves shoes?
Hehe your right. :)
This challenge is already giving me some nervous feelings :)

I finally thought of one.
Read an entire series consisting of 6 or more books. Re-reads not allowed!

Dam Crusader thats going to be hard :)
I love series but now I'll have to go find some new ones
I love series but now I'll have to go find some new ones

But then again, I don't often read series :(
At least it fits in nicely with Lu's challenge to read book 7, 8 or 9 in a series though :)

Now now, let's not be too ambitious; we all know how that turns out :D
But now I'm feeling like I haven't been nearly evil enough! So I'm scrapping my last challenge (the "just like me" one) to make way for something worse! Once I think of something.
Since I am reading classics anyway why not a classic challenge in this one too.
Read a book with a reference to a classic book in it and read that classic too.
So you have to read two books here and you have to post the quote.

There are 3 steps
1. Choose a book to read. A classic, multiple award-winning or literary book is best. Fiction or non-fiction.
2. Read a novel (fiction) based on the book in step 1. eg. read Hyperion if your book is The Canterbury Tales.
3. Read a non-fiction book related to the book in step one. Eg. a collection of essays on the novel, a book about the author etc, a book about a theme of the novel (eg. vampires, dystopias) where the novel is discussed at length. It can be a study guide, but remember that it should fit the 100 page minimum requirement.

I have the same feeling.
We have to read a book that takes place on a ship which is not a passenger cruise ship. I am reading Moby Dick.
We have to read a book that is number 7, 8, or 9 in a series. I am reading the Vow on the Heron which is number 9 in a series. I am also reading an echo in the bone which is number 7 in a series so maybe I will wait with that one since I have only read 31 pages and I will reread those pages again since it is almost a week ago since I read them when the challenge starts.
BTW sorry about the classic refence books, that was my idea.

Wow you guys have been chatting :)
I want nominations to end on the 20th
Then gives us 10 days days to prepare and we start 1 April.
Nominations might be extended a bit if we don't get atleast 40 nominations :)

*The terrible threes: Read three trilogies. (Not ones you've already started.)
*Read a graphic novel.
The last one isn't hard, but it's something else and perhaps I'm not the only one who hasn't ever read one.
I don't really want a end date for this
Every time you finish 5 tasks you do however "gain a level". I'm going to have fun with little pictures and titles and things :)

Oh btw I have moved this to its own folder. Otherwise I'll be searching for it all the whole time.
Under this heading i'll put suggestions threads. Planning threads. Questions and the points update thread where I plan on having some fun :)

And sigh, I'm just finishing up the last book of LOTR, and about to start the last book of another trilogy. Grrr.

Umm, aren't most graphic novels stories in their own right anyway? I know you get a few that are based on novels but usually it's an original work.
I like this one though, I can finish most graphic novels in about an hour :D

Pick a theme, any theme fantasy, horror, whatever and read 6 different books belonging to that theme written by 6 different authors coming from the 6 different continents so from Europa, Africa, Asia, Australia, North-America and South-America. I know Antartica is counted as a continent, but I don't think they have many native authors there. I think it would be nice to see what the different continents do with the themes.
I'm going to keep the graphic novel one Kahlan, we need nominations :)
Updated :)
10 more please!!!
PS: I'm going to start asking questions soon about certain nominations if you guys can just clear them up please :)

I still have to nominate 3 more to get to my 5 nominations. I am so bad in thinking of these things. I am going to do some serious browsing in the bookstore later this day and maybe something will trigger an idea. Will let you know.

Eg. if you read Moxyland, you could use a picture of yourself in/outside Stones on Long Street in Cape Town. Just a picture of yourself in Cape Town won't cut it.
Re-create a cover. You have to take a pic where you have recreated a cover, using props, dressing up etc. You can't just use photoshop, except when putting a title on it and so on :)
Oh and read the book obviously :)

For people who will be able to do this, it does sound great though.

Mwahahaha! :)
But it doesn't have to be in Cape Town, obviously - there must be loads of different locations in SA novels. And if you already have a photo of yourself in a potential location, you can just find a book to match.
By the way, if you don't want to show your face you can blur it out or use a shot takne from behind.
Ok this challenge is going to be the end of me!
But Lu and I have a plan on how to do it, right Lu?
No matter how long it takes me I'm going to stay at that specific level we chatted about :)
Good luck to everyone! Really... I think we're going to all need some luck :)
