Elisabeth Surprised that the heroine is Hadiee. Just finished the Darkest Lie and really thought the author was setting up for Strider and Hadiee so this caught me off guard

I did not find this one as good as the previous ones in this series, a little disappointed in fact.

Ola if you don't mind me asking, how so ?

Melanie I liked it - thought it was much better than the Darkest Lie. Amun was much more likeable than I thought he would be. Now I'm anxiously awaiting Strider's story - go Harpies!

YAAAAAAY Harpies, i love'em and Strider will be Super Cute :D can't wait.

✿ℎazℯℓ - thℯ ℛock Cℎick ℱairy✿ I love Amun's story but i can't help but feel bad about Strider. Anywayy, he's getting his happily ever after too so its okay. I love harpies! My favorite book is still The Darkest Whisper which involves Gwen and Sabin. I love those two and Harpies are such kick ass characters that i think Strider's story would be really good and.. fun ^_^

Karinloos I find that each book in this series gets you more addicted to the series. Loved Amuns story, was also quite thrown that Haidee was the heroine, but it worked well. Now waiting for Striders story and soooo waiting for Paris's story and Torins story.

I totally agree with you. :)

I keep waiting for her story about Kane. He sounds like he's going to be the most fun.

Melanie Yeah, I'm also hoping we get Kane's story soon - possibly after Paris' Darkest Seduction??? Kind of rooting for Kane + Taliyah (eldest Harpy sister).....

Elayne I finished Darkest Secret today and thoroughly enjoyed it..like others I wasn't too sure about Amun..but he turned out to be truly yummy!!

Johnna I liked it a lot. Totally can't stand Strider though.

Rom-addict Johnna wrote: "I liked it a lot. Totally can't stand Strider though."

yeah he is jumping from one female to the other, feeling all bothered and kind of jealous ... so i couldnt get a feel of what he wants ...

Elayne Yes I was confused by Strider too!

Johnna I wasnt confused, i just can't stand arrogant ignorance, and his he-man attitude(even if its his demons fault)

Elayne Confused as in him not knowing "who" he wants..it became obvious which female is destined for him..(I think haha).

Dwight This series is great. My room mate turned me on to them. yes I know a man reading these books is not the "norm" but i never did follow the norm. i think this was one of the better ones in the series. The story of Lysander is my favorite though. Strider's will be good but i cant wait for Paris' story.

Adrielly Rodrigues Tell me about it Dwight, Paris is my favorite! Can't wait for promiscuity, I can't stand seeing him suffer!

Adrielly Rodrigues yeah Melanie, Gena has confirmed that Kane's book is coming after Paris', can't wait to read it!

paula I have this on audiobook. I just finished a re-listen & actually liked it even more the second time. There was something about the characters I found endearing & enjoyed the story line. My favorite in the series so far.

Shanifa I love all the Lords of the Underworld but strider really pissed me off in this one *snickers* my fave part is the last when Amun kicked is ass sooo good!

Shanifa Adrielly wrote: "Tell me about it Dwight, Paris is my favorite! Can't wait for promiscuity, I can't stand seeing him suffer!"

I wish that someway Paris and Reyes could switch demons. i think Paris would rather cause himself pain than have to practically be cheating on Sienna and Reyes deserves a little sexual pleasure than to cause himself pain everyday

I can not remember which of the lords (besides Paris) it was that talked bout how much they liked these books.

Get in line sister 'cos we're all waiting for those cuties' stories
;)
;)

Dhfan4life Finished Darkest Secret not that long ago myself. And I had a feeling it was going to be good from the very first. Amun totally had the strong silent type role down pact for sure. But with his story there was just way more depth to it and I loved it. I'll admit to not being a fan from the very first like most others as this series was a recommendation to me through some book buddies. And some recs have not always whetted my appetite.

But since the very first when Torin, Reyes, Sabin Lucien, Gideon, Amun, and even Cameo were mentioned I knew I had to know their secrets and read their stories. And I wasn't disappointed with Amun's side of things at all. I'm glad too that the author switched the heroines for both Strider and Amun. Because after we see so much of Haidee's actual past life and what she has been through. It was so obvious that Strider would have hurt her and harbored even more of her hate towards the Lords. Because his demon would always have to win. And to him and Sabin in particular.

They have to win at defeating the hunters at all cost. And that soooo would have ruined all hopes of a positive outcome romantically for them as a couple. Not only that but even in Strider's own words and actions(which is shown time and again) he will always put HIMSELF above the happiness of someone else. Even his friends just so he can win. I know he can't help it cause of his demon. But still when you are always putting the *I* before the we all the time, then you don't have a relationship. So again mad props to the author or her editor or someone she brainstormed out the couples with on getting her to realize that Strider and Haidee wouldn't be a good match.

I'll add too that I was so glad that Strider got his ass handed to him a few times in this book. He was steadily building up to it for some reason after Gwen's book. And he totally got served and I loved it!!!

I finished Strider's story and it was really great to read...he was so cute...
I am also interested in reading Cameo's story (Hope G.S will write one about her her too)..I do wonder who would be compatible with Cameo?

Dhfan4life Maybe she'll throw a vampire her way, Lily. Although I have to say I really am not feeling the whole witch, vamp, and fae aspects into the series though. I like the Greek/Gods and Goddesses stuff going on more. And feels like G.S. is just over reaching with needing characters like that. Doesn't mesh well.

I am ok with it but I know what you mean as GS's books initially started around Greek mythology....I think her man will be someone like a death demon ( kresley cole's series mention him...could happen as Gena and Kresley are friends)

Dhfan4life I haven't read Kresley Cole's series before but I did get that from the insider book Showalter did. And from the cross over fae chick that Torin was attracted to. So it is pretty cool that friend authors would do a cross over like that. But still might have been best if it were to be a collaboration I still think the character should still fit into Showalter's world.

It was cute when Gideon caught Torin with the witches gone wild movie going. But beyond that it reads like she is incorporating mundane paranormals into a story about ancient legend type of characters. So to me that is a bit of a stretch. Nothing wrong with witches, vamps, and the like. But it would be like adding in True Blood characters into an episode of Spartacus or something. Interesting but not a good mesh.

I can see where you are coming, it is a bit confusing at times when Gen mixes paranormal characters with Grek mythology...Perish the thought of 'true blood characters also popping in...you just gave me the shivers going up my poor spine!

Dhfan4life Yea, let's definitely hope not on that either. But who knows.

Dhfan4life wrote: "Yea, let's definitely hope not on that either. But who knows."

I think our favorite writers may be experiencing that terrible thing called 'writers block?

Dhfan4life Haha, possibly. Which nothing is wrong with that. But I'd rather they post a message like "Taking a mini hiatus for a while. Will be back before I throw smurfs or something into the series. Please standby." I know logistically they probably can't do that or their agents would be ticked. But still never hurts to take a pause and do some more research over mythical stories to add another twist to things if you don't know any more legends that you can work to your advantage in a story.
