Tania | 644 comments Okay, so I've hit a very particular reading mood and need some suggestions.

I'm after a book where the couple is forced into marriage, perferably both of them not just the heroine, against their wills then spend the rest of the book working their way towards or fighting against towards a future together.

Sub-genre doesn't matter could be historical, pnr, urban fantasy, contemporary, rom-suspense - just so long as it has a couple that is forced into marriage.

If you can't think of any where both of them are forced, then I'll read ones where its just the heroine forced into marriage.

(fyi - I think it's Outlander's fault I'm on this kick)

Amanda D. (tinyminx) | 634 comments I find this site to be a great reference and the organization is quite helpful if you're looking for something in particular. They are mainly of the regency or historical variety.

I need to go through this category as well. You can never have enough on your TBR list! : )

Arranged & Forced Marriages.

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 1103 comments The Maid of Lorne by Terri Brisbin

This is the very first romance I ever read. I loved it and then was hooked. "Wed or dead by midnight". I forget what time period it takes place. 11th or 12th centure Scotland if I remember right. Heroine is the daughter of a Lord who is part of a failed rebellion. The King basically de-lords the father but to kind of keep the peace with the people he gives the daughter the choice of execution or marrying one of his knights that he's picked to be the new lord.

KimKirt | 1638 comments One of the very first romances I ever read was The Flame and the Flower by Kathleen Woodiwiss.

It is somewhat "poo pooed" for not being politically correct. Who cares about that? It was written in 1972 and I love all of Kathleen Woodiwiss' books from that era. My mom used to get them as soon as they were published and I started hiding them in my room and reading them. I can honestly say she started my love for historical romances. Anyway, just another for you to consider.

Tania | 644 comments Thanks for the great suggestions everyone!

I'm thinking Desire Untamed untamed fits into this category. Kind of. She really doesn't have a choice about who she has to mate with, and really doesn't want it to be who the magical ceremonial flames say it is.

Jennifer Berry | 1 comments So I'm looking for a historical romance novel that I read a while ago. Its about this couple that has an arranged marriage. The woman is either the youngest or oldest out of her sisters and is her fathers favorite. I remember that the servant was the one who told the man about the daughter because the father was going to try and hide her. She also loved horses and riding. message 40: by Katherine (new)

Katherine (katzi6565) | 1 comments I'm looking for this book that I read ages ago and haven't found since. It's about a woman who's father losses all he owns, a inn and a mine, to a guy. She shows up to this town tries to claim the property after her father is killed, but butt heads with the guy the dad lost the property to. The only way it could be resolved is if they got married. I think the main characters name is Caroline and the title had midnight or married/marriage in It, I think.

message 41: by Daisy (new)

Daisy Hi all,

I have reached my wits end trying to find this book! I don't remember the title, book cover , character names , nothing but this one ... I don't even know what to call it... this one scene/story line.

Anyhow - I know it was set in a fantasy world, I think the heroine was a princess , she's forced to marry the villain. I think she has to move to his palace but she manages to get her maid to come. On her wedding night the maid slips her a vile of liquid that dulls the princesses senses so she's not aware of what the villain forces on her. I remember that the villain makes her wear her crown , which is quite heavy. He forces her to wear it all the time, including in bed. She continues to take the drug so she can get away from her reality. Now, I don't know if I'm getting mixed up with another book but I'm pretty sure she has already met her hero but something happens and they're separated , which leads to her forced marriage. At the beginning she thinks he is going to come rescue her but soon loses hope. I don't remember what happens next or how she escapes but I think it has something to do with the maid.

I'm dying to know what book this is from. If any of what I just wrote made sense and someone knows what book it's from please please please put me out of my misery and tell me , I would really really appreciate it .

:)

message 42: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer Spangler | 1 comments Hi everyone! I'm also looking for a book in this category. It's a trilogy and a friend gave it to me. It's your typical fantasy setting. I only read the third book but it starts out with a female who is forced into marriage. On their wedding night he is assassinated and she flees for fear of her own life. She ends up being pregnant and is being pursued because of that unborn child that if male is the heir to the realm.

That's about all I remember besides specific details that don't seem helpful like the easy she describes their first kiss and a tunnel they escape through at some point. If anyone knows this book is appreciate it! Thank you!

Zulma (zuhlyness) | 1 comments Hello, everybody!

Can you help? I'm looking for a book; a friend of mine wanted it but she just vaguely described the plot.

"A princess is sent to marry the enemy king, whom she had rejected when he was a prince. "

She said she was betrayed by her court, I think. And it seems the King has a love-hate disposition towards her. Also, I think her father dies at the beginning.

hope you can help :D
