Thanks. :) I'd never been to anything like that before and it was a little strange, but getting to talk to two of my favourite authors made it an incredible experience. They're both very approachable, by the way. :)

And it feels so wonderful to find they are "normal", just like you, doesn't it!

Mish | 3601 comments I had the pleasure of seeing Carlos Ruiz Zafón at the Athenaeum theatre last night. He's truly lovely man and compelling to listen to.

I’ve managed to get all my books signed and he drew a pair of Angel wings on my copy of The Angel's Game :)

here's a list of the other books he signed for me.

The Midnight Palace (Niebla, #2) by Carlos Ruiz Zafón The Watcher in the Shadows by Carlos Ruiz Zafón The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafón
The Prisoner of Heaven by Carlos Ruiz Zafón

The event was recorded so hopefully it should be up soon on the Wheelers site. As soon as it is, I’ll link it here for anyone that is interested.

He's one of the best Sharon. He was saying the Angel's Game was written while he was staying in Barcelona and it's the only book in the series that will give you a true sense of what the city of Barcelona is really like.

Liam || Books 'n Beards (madbird) I've got a signed copy of Stephen Orr's Time's Long Ruin from when he did an event at my library, signed copies of all three Rx - A Tale of Electronegativity "episodes" because I backed the Kickstarter. Signed copy of The Hit because I'm a sucker and bought it on Bookdepository because it was hardback and limited edition. Ditto for Railsea.

Kate (fictionalkate) | 69 comments I went to Literati 2013 last month - hosted by Gold Coast Libraries.

I brought many books from home to be signed -and spent way too much buying new books but got a heap of books signed by Keri Arthur (Full Moon Rising Darkness Unmasked), Helene Young (Burning Lies Half Moon Bay), Paula Westen (Shadows), Anna Campbell (Claiming the Courtesan Tempt the Devil Captive of Sin) and Lisa Walker (Sex Lies and Bonsai Liar Bird)

I love library events - And this one had 14 different Aussie authors in different sessions talking about all sorts of things. IT was great.

message 234: by Diane (new)

Diane | 14 comments About a zillion years ago (in the 80s) I waited in
line at Heater's Bookshop in Kensington Park,
Adelaide to get Sue Townsend's autograph on the
copies of my Adrian Mole books. They were huge
successes back in the day, really incisive comic
writing. I was surprised, the other day on "Eggheads"
when her name appeared as one of the
answer options that a couple of the "eggheads" didn't know her. Well they have been having a bad run, having lost the last 4 challenges!!
