Ashe | 15 comments Hi- My name is Ashe, I'm 17 and a pilot. When i'm not in the sky I'm usually on the ground writing, drawing or typically have my nose in a good book. Discovered this group yesterday and thought it'd be neat to join! Especially since I'm running out of good books to read. So far its been pretty cool!

You will NEVER utter these words again. You found us just in time!
Welcome!

message 3: by Vicki (new)

Vicki I agree, I am fairly new myself and I have so many books I want to read now. Welcome to the group!

Macy | 155 comments Yes, Ashe. Your days of wondering what your next book will be are done! Welcome to the group. Have you read by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry?

message 5: by Val (new)

Val Nichols | 159 comments Welcome, Ashe! I like how casually you say, "I'm 17 and a pilot." Not a lot of 17-year-olds I know can say that. :0) Is your family into flying?

Ashe | 15 comments Thanks for the welcome everybody! I have not read that book, I'll have to look into it!
Val:My parents are both former fliers of sorts, they inspired my flying along with several books I read when I was younger.

Welcome Ashe...great job...you don't read while you are flying do you? :)

message 10: by Kirsty (new)

Kirsty (kirstyreadsandcreates) | 610 comments Jeremy... you'd be surprised at how much time commercial pilots spend reading newspapers whilst they're flying!

I worked for a while as cabin crew, and used to take the drinks into the flight deck. Obviously their busiest times are takeoff and landing. Once they're up in the air autopilot kicks in and they don't really have much to do. Obviously they have to be vigilant, but they still read newspapers/books etc. Lol. Of course when things go wrong their job gets much tougher!

hehe, it's just a little funny to think about. That surely reminds of Airplane. And don't call me Shirley.

message 12: by Ashe (new)

Ashe | 15 comments :) I actually haven't flow anything bigger than a small plane, so I'm constantly messing with it-
but I do plenty map reading, that count?
