If you have run out of books to read or need recommendations, come here and check it out! On the other hand, if you've read many books that you like and would want to reccomend some titles, you can do that, too! Also, if you are recommending books, please include a BRIEF description so we would know what it's about. (Don't spoil the book, though!)

Some reccomendations I have are:

Unwind- Neal Shusterman - this is set somewhere in the future...it's about a time where, if you are the guardian/parent of a child between the ages of 13-18 and they are always causing problems, or you just can't afford to pay for them, or even if you just plain don't like them, you can have them Unwound, and I'm not going to tell you what that means because it could spoil the book.

Harry Potter Series - I'm not even going to bother explaining this one.

Percy Jackson series - About a 'troubled' boy, with ADHD and dyslexia, who discoved he has Greek God parentage.

Maximum Ride Series - About a girl and he 'flock'. She and her friends are genetically modified mutant freaks, who are on the run from evil scientists trying to experiment on them. Very sarcastic and hilarious.

Alex Rider Series - A 14 year old boy discovers his dead parent and now dead uncle worked for MI6 (British version of CIA) and he takes their place.

you are a LEGEND. just add:
Vampire Academy: Rich royal vampire (lissa) and her half-vamp friend (rose) at a secret school where lissa has a strange magic that no-one knows about and rose learns how to kill other vampires, along with all the conflicts, arguments, love and heartbreak that you expect to find in high school

A few others would be:

Oh My Gods: Kind of like a girl version of Percy Jackson, because it's about a girl who is torn away from her life in LA to fly to Greece, where she attends a school where all the students are decendants of Greek gods. It's different though, because, first of all the decendants have powers. Second of all, there's no monster fighting or sudden death. It's like one of those books about people in middle/high school, except with a twist. It's sequel is Goddess Boot Camp.

Where the Red Fern Grows: An EXTREMELY heart wrenching book about a boy growing up in the 1920's or 1930's. The first chapter is about the main character, except in the 1960's when he's older, and he's telling the tale of his childhood for the rest of the book. it's quite possibly one of the SADDEST books i've ever read, just so you know. Also, the main character lives kind of like a country boy, and I know a lot of people don't like that stuff, but niether do I usually and this is one of my favorite books.

House of Night Series: This is about a girl named Zoey who is Marked by a vampyre (and yes, I spelled that right.) She has to go to the House of Night and learn the vampyre ways as she starts turning into one. Very hilarious.

Speak: This is a very intense and emotional book. You have to have a mature mindset when you read this, because the main character in this book is raped. If you don't think you will be mature enough to handle this, DON'T read it. If you do think you can, though, then I would recommend it highly. It's a very eye-opening book. My Language Arts (English) teacher recommended it to me, and I loved it.

F.A. Hershey (f_a_hershey) | 4 comments The House of Night series really captivated me. I thought it was a very original take on vampires.
I love vampire stories; the concept of vampires has been taken to a whole other level in recent years... that's very satisfying.

Emmaredfern Redfern | 3 comments i suggest:

A Song for Summer by Eva Ibbotson
A song for summer
In a fragile world on the brink of World War II, a young Englishwoman takes a job as a housemother at an unconventional boarding school in Vienna. Soon everyone at the Hallendorf School, from the headmaster to the mysterious groundsman, relies on her for nurturing, What happens when the menace of Hitler's power reaches this idyllic world makes for a powerfully moving tale

I, Coriander by Sally Gardner

i coriander
It is night, and I have lit the first of seven candles to write my story by. My name is Coriander Hobie, and I have a great many things to tell–of silver shoes that tempted me and an alligator most rare; of London, the home of my childhood, and another, stranger land, one that I thought only existed in dreams; and of an ebony box whose treasure only now am I beginning to understand. The box was once my mother’s, but its secrets were meant for me.

The Red Necklace by Sally Gardner

The red necklace
The story of a remarkable boy called Yann Margoza; Tetu the dwarf, his friend and mentor; Sido, unloved daughter of a foolish Marquis; and Count Kalliovski, Grand Master of a secret society, who has half the aristocracy in thrall to him, and wants Yann dead. Yann is spirited away to London but three years later, when Paris is gripped by the bloody horrors of the Revolution, he returns, charged with two missions: to find out Kalliovski's darkest deeds and to save Sido from the guillotine. With a tangle of secrets, a thread of magic and a touch of humour, the follies of the aristocracy and the sufferings of ordinary people are unfolded as their lives move relentlessly towards the tragic and horrific days of the Terror. THE RED NECKLACE is not only a tremendous adventure story but a vibrant and passionate picture of Paris in turmoil and of a large cast of memorable characters.

The Silver Blade by Sally Gardner

The sliver blade (part 2 of the red necklace)

A stirring tale of magic and revolution- fans of The Red Necklace won't want to miss it.
The year is 1794. With his beloved Sido safely in England and the Reign of Terror at its height, mysterious Yann returns to revolutionary France to smuggle out aristocratic refugees who will otherwise face the guillotine. But while the two are apart, Yann’s Gypsy origins prejudice Sido’s guardian against their marriage, thwarting their longed-for reunion. When Sido is kidnapped under strange circumstances, however, Yann must use all his strength and courage to outwit the evil Count Kalliovski, rescue Sido, and help save all of France.

As she did in The Red Necklace and the award-winning I, Coriander, Sally Gardner spins an epic tale that combines a vivid sense of history, characters full of Dickensian drama and fascination, and a sizzling adventure with touches of magic and romance.

Ashley (ashleecrazee) | 62 comments Looking for good books?

For the Vampire Lovers out there, try the Vampire Diaries by L.J. Smith, or House of Night by P.C. Cast.
If you are more reality based, with some teen romance I would suggest The Principles of Love by Emily Franklin, or The Last Song by Nicholas Sparks (better than the movie).
Or, if you think maybe you want more Sci-Fi try Black Hole Sun by David Macinnis Gill, or The Dark Side of nowhere by Neal Shusterman.
