Meg (megvt) | 3069 comments Well I just got back from vacation and I have to admit something I did. I went around trying to look at every title of every book that people were reading. I thought if someone was reading one of our books they could possibly be from here. No luck. But it sure was fun being "on the hunt". Anyone else ever do that?

message 2: by Holli (new)

Holli I do that occasionally......to see if anyone is reading something I've just read. I find that hardly anyone ever is!

Robyn (roxy_nj) | 354 comments LOL, Meg!!
While out with a girlfriend and some of her GF one of them mentioned how she was going back to school for...ok I don't know the technical term....to be a radiologist? Is that right? She would do and read CAT scans and such. Anyway.....she mentioned some magazine from that field. Dork I am was like "OMG! Are you on Good Reads?!" Backtrack a little, day or two earlier I was reading the "what magazines do you read" thread and TWO people mentioned magazines for radiologist so I thought it one of them HAD to be her! She just looked at me like "??what??" at which point I had to try to explain the site, the thread and why i thought that it could possibly be here.

you see how rambly and stupid it sounded via text, imagine the scene in person!!

Roxy you are adorable!
I did notice someone reading our current book and thought "hmmmm" while I was on vacation but it was a 20something guy so I figured not likely.
I did stop at every bookstore along the way to see if they had our upcoming books.
OHHH and whomever suggesting buying a cookbook from the place you vacation at THANK YOU! I made it a specific goal and hunted for a good one and found something I love that is home with me now. It feels like I have a bit of vacation with me now whenever I want to cook it up.

Robyn (roxy_nj) | 354 comments Tera,
wait, whats the current book again? Is it the Knitting Circle or the Curious Dog Book. I think I'd have to strike up a conversation with the guy reading the Knitting Group book!

Meg (megvt) | 3069 comments I think I am just dying to meet someone from our club. What fun it would be to stumble upon someone in real life. doesn't anyone live near northern vt?

message 7: by Holli (new)

Holli I would love to meet someone from our club but I don't think anyone lives in Columbus Ohio :(

message 8: by Cindy (new)

Cindy (cindylouyoung) | 105 comments Meg,

I dont know where you are in Northern VT exactly --- but - I am in NH. Perhaps we could do a 1/2 way each adventure and meet someplace nice for lunch on a weekend?

Give me a couple of weeks though as I am in the middle of getting my daughter off to college right now. :)

message 9: by Meg (new)

Meg (megvt) | 3069 comments That would be great Cindy! I start work again on Monday, so I also need some time. It would be fun. Where in NH are you?

message 10: by Cindy (new)

Cindy (cindylouyoung) | 105 comments Lakes Region - Alton Bay area..

message 11: by Someone (new)

Someone Youmayknow (momar13) Meg, my kid is in Northern VT at college! Sometimes I go there to visit him. If I do, I will carry our book of the month, promise!

message 12: by Someone (new)

Someone Youmayknow (momar13) Cindy, I go to Peterborough pretty regularly. Toadstool Bookstore is a fave of mine. Are you anywhere near there?

message 13: by Cindy (new)

Cindy (cindylouyoung) | 105 comments Peterborogh is easily doable for me - I live on the other side of Concord, but I love Peterborough and would be happy to meet up with you there! Maybe I can get Toadstool to take my books :)

message 14: by Leslie (new)

Leslie Hickman (bkread2) | 233 comments I do know one of the girls at work always seems to be having fun reading at lunch. She is working on the Murder by "letters" series or something like that. She gets all of her at the library. I might have to read that series soon as well.

Is anyone else a sucker about watching a movie or the like and having to read the book as well it was based on? I am getting on that kick again and its dangerous. Talk about exploding TBR piles!

message 15: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (randymandy) | 467 comments Murder by letters? Is that Sue Grafton or whoever? Hmmm... Work, brain, work!

message 16: by Robyn (new)

Robyn (roxy_nj) | 354 comments Maureen, I have to chuckle at your comment about carring our book club book if you travel to VT. It sounds like something out of a movie. What was the original? I forget but they did it in "You've Got Mail".....
I'll meet you at such-and-such Cafe. I'll be carrying the book club book with a red rose for a bookmark.
LOL

message 17: by Someone (new)

Someone Youmayknow (momar13) Toadstool has a FAB array of used books in "Eggcellent" condition for the discerning chick! I know authors prefer us to buy new but constant readers often have to be cheep cheep in order to continue the habit, right?

Wouldn't that be fun to meet up in the wilds of New Hampshire of VT carrying our books! I would LOVE that!!

message 18: by Meg (new)

Meg (megvt) | 3069 comments I would love that, we wouldn't need a carnation to be recognized just our current book. We could invite the media and be the next Oprah! What an idea for a TV show.
