Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments Glad you didn't turn tail and run when you saw "1st Quarter Report". :) No, there's no math involved, you don't have to submit it triplicate to your boss or sharpen your #2 pencils.

I'm just curious, now that we're reaching the end of the 1st quarter, how everyone (who is participating) is doing on their 2011 Goodreads Reading Challenge. :D

message 2: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments My Stats: 58 of 200 (28%) I'm pleased, that's on track for me to be able to reach my goal by the end of the year. If I can maintain at least 50/quarter. :)

message 3: by CyberAlmu (new)

CyberAlmu | 302 comments Wow, 200 is too big an aim for me.
I'm 19 of 50 (38%). I guess I underestimated myself...

message 4: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments Nah, I read a little over 200 the past two years, so figured I could match it at least. We'll see.

It's all relative. I have no job, so more time to read. You're doing well though, 38%. Congrats! :)

message 5: by Amanda A (new)

Amanda A | 812 comments Being an accountant, I'd love it if there were math involved! :-) I love stats too though.

I'm at 71 of 300 (21%) right now. I hope to get in at least 4 more before the end of the month so I can stay on pace.

message 6: by Josie (new)

Josie | 1967 comments Everyone's doing well!

I'm on 48 of 100 (48%) :D

message 7: by Daffodil (new)

Daffodil (daffodil--ripcranberry) | 2098 comments I underestimated also. I calculated 15 per month for a total of 180. After I set my goal, I looked back and discovered I'd read 226 books last year. I'm already a third of the way towards my goal with 61 of 180 (33%)

message 8: by Daffodil (new)

Daffodil (daffodil--ripcranberry) | 2098 comments Wow Amanda! 71 books already. Isn't this your busy time of year? Or maybe you don't work with taxes?

message 9: by Amber (last edited Mar 27, 2011 04:01PM) (new)

Amber (crazyaboutbooks) | 499 comments 34 of 150 (22%) will be done with one more tonight and Hope to have a couple more done before the month is up still.

message 10: by Judithe, Soap Operas never end.... (new)

Judithe | 6566 comments I'm at 61 of 250 or 24%...so doing OK. Have a couple more almost finished, so doing OK to reach my goal :D

message 11: by Desperado (last edited Mar 24, 2011 08:02AM) (new)

Desperado (lethallovely) | 1360 comments Steph, you come up with the best topics. ☺

Last year I read 170 books, which I'm positive has a lot to do with joining GR. This year I'm going for 150. Yes, I'm also underestimating myself but I'd rather make a goal I'm pretty sure I can reach then struggle to finish X amount of books at the end of the year.

I'm at 41 of 150 (27%) & I'm currently read 3 books, so it will probably be 44 by the end of March. So that's what? A little under 39 books a quarter? I guess I'm doing pretty good, all things considered.

Kerstin | 862 comments You're all doing very well!
I'm at 41 of 150 (27%) so far.

Just realized we have the exact same stats, Lethal, lol!

message 13: by FlibBityFLooB (new)

FlibBityFLooB | 173 comments I'm aT 76/365 (20%) so far... I have some vacation coming up next week, so I may be able to get some good reading time in :)

I am aiming for a book a day, so if I was on track, I would be at 84 . Have some catching up to do ;)

Amanda A | 812 comments Daffodil wrote: "Wow Amanda! 71 books already. Isn't this your busy time of year? Or maybe you don't work with taxes?"

Daffodil, I am a CPA but I don't do taxes in my job. I am the assistant controller at a private liberal arts college.

Charlotte (Buried in Books) | 557 comments I've done 17 out of 60 (28%), although 2 of them were books that I started last year.

message 16: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments Great going, guys! Looks like everyone's goals are on track for an EOY (end-of-year) celebration! :)

I'm envious of those of you that can read so many each year. But, I'd need to spend less time online talking about books and more time reading them. LOL! What fun would that be? I've found a happy medium and I like it.

Flib, hope you enjoy your vaca!

Literary Ames (amyorames) | 1854 comments 42 of 175 (24%) -Huh, I'm actually on track but I don't feel it's accurate. I've read quite a few short stories so it looks like I've read more than I have. If I admit it, it's not cheating, right?

message 21: by Literary Ames (new)

Literary Ames (amyorames) | 1854 comments AH wrote: "I've read 49/200 so far this year. How do you guys link to your challenge? I'm html challenged."

my link text

Just take out the *
Replace the url with your challenge page, and
Replace "my link text" with what you want it to say.

No, not cheating. Plus, a book is a book, no matter the length, right? Ya had to read it to complete it, so it counts. ;)

message 24: by AH (new)

AH | 2271 comments Thanks, Amy. I had my info in backwards.

message 25: by Angi (new)

Angi | 485 comments You guys are amazing. I get in just what I can! With work and the kids and the extras that come along, I just can't seem to find enough time to read :( Hence the 100 by the end of the year lol I think I can do that. I'm 11 of 100 (11%)

message 26: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

LOL! Yes, it was meant as hugs & kisses. I'm pretty sure I didn't mean whatever bad word it means in Spanish slang. ;)

Laura wrote: "i have read this year only 21/120...i have long way to go :D"

It's still early in the year, Laura. Plus, reading any throughout the year is a +, yah? :)

message 32: by CyberAlmu (new)

CyberAlmu | 302 comments LOL! I know steph. Don't worry, I'm don't have a dirty mind, I'm an innocent girl! :)

It's amusing to see all these cross-language funny things.

message 33: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments I'm afraid to ask what it means in Spanish. ;)

message 34: by CyberAlmu (last edited Mar 27, 2011 05:38AM) (new)

CyberAlmu | 302 comments texting and in chat, we tend to shorten ch- with x-.
The word refers to a certain part of the female body, below the hips.

It is also a derogatory way to refer to a woman

message 35: by Wan (new)

Wan (wanwaddell) | 612 comments I'm 32 of 120 (26%). Slowly but surely.

Awesomevegan (AKA JenReads) (awesomevegan) | 468 comments I'm at 21 of 75 (28%) I also have I think 4 in progress but one is on the back burner because I didn't get into it right away. Pretty much on schedule I would say. :)

OIC - Definitely didn't mean that! LOL! ;)

message 39: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments Yay! Congrats! :) Will you increase it once you've reached your initial goal?

message 40: by Josie (new)

Josie | 1967 comments Erm I'm not sure, maybe. I feel like next year I can increase it further for sure. I've never counted how many books I read in a year so I didn't want to overestimate myself. This is like my base year. Plus, since being on GR (specifically this group!) I read more books than ever :)

message 41: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments "This is like my base year" Makes sense. Good idea. "Plus, since being on GR (specifically this group!) I read more books than ever :) " Happy to have ya here! GR & this group keep me hunting out the next best book. :)

Same here!

message 43: by Judithe, Soap Operas never end.... (new)

Judithe | 6566 comments Me, too! And no problems finding "it" either!

Christina (AKA Babbling) (babblingbookreviews) | 1242 comments Though I'm listening to audiobooks, I'm only counting physical books for the GR challenge. I will finish up my 15th book today. Considering I only manage 20 books total (not counting re-reads/audiobooks) last year (major move, both house and job), I'm doing MUCH better. By this time last year, I'd only read 5 books.

Because of Bingo, I haven't planned ahead for April like I did the first three months of the year. We'll see how it goes.

message 45: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments I went with 450 books this year as I read 480 odd last year, including re-reads.

So far I'm 110 books which is 24% (I'm 2 books short for 25%) so I'm counting that as right on schedule. I haven't added all my re-reads so far this year as some of them were only October/November so that doesn't seem fair. LOL.

message 46: by Judithe, Soap Operas never end.... (new)

Judithe | 6566 comments BUT you read them this year, too. I think that DOES count...it's not how many "new" books you read, it's how many you read all together.

message 47: by Sandra, Kindle Operator Licence Required (new)

Sandra | 25908 comments Well I've added them to my read list but kept them off the GR challenge list. You do realise that re-reads on the GR list come off previous years stats, that's why I've only added some.

message 48: by Judithe, Soap Operas never end.... (new)

Judithe | 6566 comments Oh...I didn't realize! Hmmm...well, for me, I only started counting last year, and partly through the year at that! That's one thing it might be nice to "fix" on GR.

message 49: by Steph, Serious series addict (new)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments Ah, thanks, GR! ;) I just noticed on my home page, they've got a little note for me saying, "Great work, you're 16 books (7%) ahead." Always nice to get a little unsolicited praise. LOL!

message 50: by Judithe, Soap Operas never end.... (new)

Judithe | 6566 comments Yay, Steph!

I saw that I was 7 books/2% ahead...and it took me a bit to figure out WHAT I was ahead of! A bright spot in my day as I seem to not be getting much reading done lately!
