We actually disagree on something!! I love the voice. For me, it's unique and fits him perfectly. Different strokes.....

LOL! It's not that I don't like the voice she uses, for me it just doesn't fit him. I do like the uniqueness of it.

Just got done reading Innocent and it says that McNab's hair was in a pony tail down to his waist. I can picture McNab with long hair, since he's always stylin. However, the police would probably have a dress code of short hair because it is too easy for someone to grab and pull. Granted he's an e-geek and the dress code is more lax.

Yeah, but it takes YEARS to grow your hair out that long, and I didn't get the impression that he's been in EDD for THAT long.... He did time in uniform, then made detective and worked in another department (anyone remember which?) before he switched over. And he still goes on busts. Maybe the NYPSD is a little more lax in the personal style department? Maybe he used to tuck his hair up under his uniform cap?

How about Ryan Gosling, for McNab?

I can't either. I always whip out my magic scissors and snip it all off in my imagination :0)

If I think of his hair and how they described it I think of it like this

So does this mean he (Mcnab) was born in the States and his parents moved back to Scotland later or was he born in Scotland and moved to the States.
It's just that in the audiobooks he has an American accent and I just realised that depending on his circumstances he might have had a scottish Scottish accent or, maybe, a partial scottish burr under the American accent.

NR may write her more stylish men with very long hair, but I don't see it when I read or listen to the books. I was in college in the 1970's when men began growing their hair. Almost none of them understood how to take care of long hair. NR may write how beautiful and sexy the hair styles are, but all I see is some of the guys I went to class with, hair hanging in their eyes, straggly, split ends, dry and fly-away.
🤣🤣🤣🤣
I know exactly what you mean, Phyllis. I have to pull up some modern photos to replace those images.

I feel like in terms of relationships, he's a straight shooter. I just started reading "Seduction In Death" (he and Peabody are "broken up"). He seemed to be honest with Peabody about how he felt about her, and she wasn't really up front with him. She didn't tell him that she never slept with Charles, which she really should have, and should have been more honest with herself and him about how she really felt about him, instead of hiding her feelings and suffering silently.
I also think it's fascinating the way he works, how fast his brain figures one thing out, then he's on to the next, and then the next thing - and he kinda talks as he figures it out, and it's really fun to listen to when he does this.
I also love McNab and Rourke - I'd love more scenes with the two of them together (maybe there are in books I haven't read yet), because they are so funny and sweet together.

I agree with you regarding Peabody. It bothered me the way she used Charles to tease NcNab. I think Charles has an appeal to her because he is so worldly and attractive. Although he never touched her heart the way McNabb did.
I think part of the problem for Peabody was trusting another cop. She was burned earlier in the series and she still smarts from it.
I love all the Roarke and NcNab scenes.
