Vanessa (vanessamc) | 646 comments Jack Whitney is the Eve's Commander. I'm not sure whether it's just the Manhattan division where Eve works, or for all of New York City, maybe someone could clarify that. He's a tough commander, but fair. In fact, his integrity is my favorite character trait. He doesn't play politics unless absolutely necessary, and when he does, he still puts his officers first. I was a little concerned in Glory in Death, but that came out okay. Tom Selleck in the TV show, Blue Bloods, reminds me of his character.

Karon (agmommy) | 182 comments Oh my, I'm listening to Born in Death right now and Whitney has seriously ticked off both Eve and Roarke...BIG TIME! I like how they dealt with it, but it sure drove a wedge into their (Eve & Roarke's) relationship temporarily. I was thinking at the time how "dominant" Roarke was being towards Eve. It's a side I've never seen him take...at least not that authoritatively. I love how she turned things around though....and convinced him to change his mind. She thinks like a child sometimes (LOL).

Dee Sauter (indeathaddict) | 1070 comments Born in Death is my favorite story line. I loved Eve and Roarke's reaction in both the birthing classes and while Mavis was giving birth. The whole book is peppered with funny scenes. Like when Eve trys to bribe Roarke to stay during the baby shower and when she walks in on both Tandy and Mavis in the buff.

Dee Sauter (indeathaddict) | 1070 comments Speaking of Whitney which book is it when Whitney tells Eve she deserves the captain's chair, but he hasn't pushed for it because he does not want to loose one of the best officers in the field? No matter how many times I reread this series I can never remember which book a certain detail comes from.

From what I understand Jack Whitney is just the comander of the Manhattan division. Tibble would be in charge of all of New York City.

Oh I didn't mean that in a bad way at all. Eve is extremely clever. But so are my kids when they want me to see it their way during a discussion. Kids can be great at manipulating sometimes. That is all I meant by that statement :)

Thanks, Dee, that sounds right.
