ஐAndreaஐ (rosesrrblue) | 707 comments Hey Ladies,

I know this is totally random but I hope that you guys can help me. I am in charge of a game that we are doing and need a list of Famous Wives. Movie, TV, Historical, etc. I imagine most people don't read like we do so probably no books :(

I have a list but not enough names. Just an expample I have people like Martha Washington, Marge Simpson, Lucy Ricardo, Jessica Rabbit. Any names would help.

Thank you.

May I ask what game you are playing? I am hosting my sister's bridal shower in May and have barely begun planning. What games are you using? This one seems fun.
Thanks,
Lynsey

ஐAndreaஐ (rosesrrblue) | 707 comments OMG, Thank you all so much!!! Some of the names were easy to find but after like 15 good wives I was stuck. With your guys help we ended up with 30 :) Yaaaay, I'm excited! It was fun to look up all the couples and it was fun to read all your answers just now too. I can't believe I didn't think of Elizabeth Taylor!!!

@ Lynsey - This ones just the ice breaker. As people come in we put the name of the famous wive on their back so they can't see and everyone else can. Then they can only ask Yes or No questions to find out who they are :)
we're playing: match the couple, have strung ribbon on fake giant diamond and no one can say Bridal, one of the bridesmaids put together a poster board with the bride at different ages for people to guess her age and a couple other print outs i found on line. I can send you some links on Monday if you like.

Thanks! That would be awesome. Those sound great. I especially like the photos on poster board.

I'm not sure where she found the picture game. But she picked 16 pictures of the bride from baby til now. Numbered each picture and told the guests to guess the brides age in each pictured. I suggest if you do this game, and are using baby pics round to the nearest year. 18 months didn't seem really fair. Good Luck!

Lynsey A (lovesdarcy) | 31 comments Thanks, Andrea! I'll have my mom bring some pics when she comes for the shower. Appreciate it.

ஐAndreaஐ (rosesrrblue) | 707 comments Your Welcome!

Oh another cute thing we did was in the invitation, we asked that everyone share their favorite/best receipe with the bride and bring the dish with them. We included receipe cards in the the invitation and we got a nice receipe card box for her too. Something that everyone could share, she really liked it :)

Shellbelle I used the Famous Wives game at the Bridal Shower party I threw this weekend and it was a blast! It really got people up and talking, and the rest of the party went smooth:)

Mommydiva | 1 comments Hello all. I have been looking over your wonderful ideas as I am planning a friend's shower in November and love what you have here. I am trying to throw a 50's housewife theme, so the Stepford or Suzie Homemaker comes in great. I love the famous wives game and want to check out the other links you have listed.
Can I ask what the strings/ribbons to the large fake diamond was? What was the game/rules and prize? Also, did anyone have any lck locating invitations that looked like a 50's housewife? I'm not finding anything so far and am running out of time. Thank you!

ஐAndreaஐ (rosesrrblue) | 707 comments Hey Momma,

When we played the ribbons/fake diamond game, no one could say "wedding", or you could do the word "bride. You give everyone a ribbon with fake diamond when they get there and If someone says that word, whoever catches them, takes their ribbon necklace. the person with the most at the end of the shower wins.

I didnt see any invitations with 50's housewives, but I wasn't looking either. Have you tried to google it? Good Luck! :)

Shellbelle The famous wives game went over really well with my shower! It was the perfect icebreaker and really got everyone up talking to everyone else instead of setting in their little clusters of only people they knew.

We also broke into groups and gave each group some materials like toilet paper, tulle, balloons, curling ribbon, paper plates and cups...ect. and then they were each assigned something to make the bride...like one group did her bouquet, another did her jewlery, another did her veil, ect. Then each group used their materials to create what they were assinged and then they each brought their stuff up and dressed the bride. It was hilarious!!! We even had a group make shoes for the bride, and she had earings made from paperplates so they were the size of her head!!! Everyone had so much fun☺

Good Luck with everthing!

message 22: by ~Megan~ (new)

~Megan~ (megadee) At my sister's bridal shower, we did a kind of Newlywed Game where we asked my sister's fiancee a bunch of questions about her and video taped him giving the answers to see if he would get them right. It was hilarious and a huge hit!

We did a version of this game, but some of the guests were the other half of your couple (i.e. someone was Katie Holmes and another lady was Tom Cruise). You had to figure out who you were and find your other half. Fantastic ice breaker!

Good luck...sounds like it will be a great party!

Nairabell | 193 comments I don't mean to thread steal, but my sister just got engaged and I'm guessing at some point I'll get to throw her a shower. The problem is I've never been to one and have no idea what to do. Anyone got any advice/handy website links to help?

Nairabell | 193 comments Thanks Andrea :) I've already started checking them out but I'm a total newbie when it comes to showers. Luckily my sister is too or I'd be totally screwed as she's an overplanner - we call her the Christmas Nazi.
