I am going to go on about my day in about 40 minutes (I have to get a haircut and continue the elusive search for a couch for our new condo living room at Crate and Barrel...oh and I need to eat, the tasty salmon salad I made for dinner Thursday night is calling to me from downstairs). SO--any last minute questions (personal or writing related--I'm an open book)?

I completely agree. That being said, I just bought A Demon Inside and can't wait to get to it!

You're one of the most versatile writers in the genre, Rick -- and that is, in every way, a very, very good thing!

I have been so enjoying the excerpts. Rick I do not know how do it. You write some of the most wonderful stories. I missed most of the event.It is not easy to chat and food shop. But Rick have to say what i did read you are a true master of ceremonies.

Now this excerpt doesn't bother me at all. I've known some amusingly bizarre people in my life. In fact, this scene reminds me of a former friend's story about the disappearance of her "pet" cucumber.

But ... humor is intensely subjective, which always makes it a risky proposition. Plenty of people find stuff funny in fiction that I find annoyingly cutesy and puerile. Therefore, I'm not surprised the reaction to Dignity was wildly mixed.

What can you do? A writer, like any person, can't alter his/her sense of humor. So you have to go where your own funny-bone leads you and hope to connect with at least some like-minded folks!

Helen is horrible! I would never do something like that to my own son! Damn, those dildos are freaking expensive and to ruin one like that? She's a terrible person!
