Chris Stanley (christinelstanley) | 922 comments I have been meaning to read A Tale of Love and Darkness by Amos Oz for a while. Looks a bit different, and very emotional

Have you read any books by Henning Mankell? I read his profile, sounds like he might be similer to Steig Larssen. I think I'm definitely going to look into this.

message 6: by Ellen (new)

Ellen (elliearcher) The Dogs of Riga might be a good one. Or The Fifth Woman: A Kurt Wallander Mystery. Or even Firewall. I think they're all part of the Kurt Wallander series.

Mary (ivybuttons) | 1431 comments Like Ellie I'd be happy with anything by Henning Mankell I've only read a couple of his books and am very fond of Scandie crime.

message 8: by Ellen (new)

Ellen (elliearcher) oh yay!

message 9: by Ice (new)

Ice Bear (neilar) I would also be interested in one of the Wallender books, to see how they stacked up against the TV series (both of them).

message 10: by Ellen (new)

Ellen (elliearcher) More yay from me :D

message 11: by Ice (new)

Ice Bear (neilar) ............ and I can even get a copy from the local library of both options.

message 12: by Ellen (new)

Ellen (elliearcher) That sounds like fun-something I'd really like to do.

Eric (beefdurkee) | 122 comments So far the nominations list is as follows. Are there any more suggestions for the May read? I think we should start voting on Monday 4-18-11.
Thanks. Eric.
The Woods
The Dark Tide
A Tale of Love and Darkness
The Dogs of Riga
The Fifth Woman
Firewall

Ice Bear (neilar) The Dogs of Riga are on the loose, of the 2 closest library copies, one is on loan and one in transit between libraries ............... might need a trip to amazon.

Chris Stanley (christinelstanley) | 922 comments Am I being a bit thick here, but why is the of the month Dogs of Riga and not The Woods which won the poll. I'm not complaining, I'll read both, just confused!

message 19: by Eric (new)

Eric (beefdurkee) | 122 comments Chris
On the poll I saw half the votes wanted to read The Woods and the other half wanted to read something by Henning Mankell. So I thought we could have two books for the May Read. I should have sent an e-mail out. Sorry for the confusion

Ice Bear (neilar) For you that are familiar with Lord of the Rings (may now contain a hint of SPOLIER) towards the end Gollum obtains the 'precious' and is so overjoyed (see the film graphics) that he ........ !!!!!!!

Well the Library have just notified me that the "Dogs" are ready for my collection .............
