Almeta (menfrommarrs) | 182 comments While at consignment shop yesterday my sister pointed out this book to me.A Taste of Murder (Diabolically Delicious Recipes from Contemporary Mystery Writers).

Scanning the Index I immediately found Loren D. Estleman's "Detroit Stuffed Peppers a la Amos Walker".
Knowing Lillian Jackson Braun had to be there, I discovered "Koko's Cupcakes".

Here is the recipe that MADE me buy this book: Robert B. Parker's submission..."Susan Silvermn's Boiled Water"
Place 1 1/2 cups of water in a small pot
Place over high heat
Check occasionally but do not watch
After water bubbles vigorously, remove. Serve in a pretty cup with a squeeze of lemon and some Equal.

Yep, I did. It's displayed right there next to all my Spenser novels.

Beth | 408 comments Tee hee, Almeta, what a great recipe. ;-)

If you like recipe collections written by mystery authors, I recommend Killer Recipes. Quite a few of us mystery authors contributed to the collection, because the proceeds are going to cancer research.

Jill Hutchinson (bucs1960) There is also The Nero Wolfe Cookbook by Rex Stout which has good recipes and great anecdotes which refer back to the particular book in which certain foods were consumed

Love the debates that Nero and Fritz have over preparation techniques.

Would love to see these recipes.

It seems that if you buy this book, you won't be able to afford the ingredients!

Martha (marthas48) Susan Silverman is my kind of cook!! Love all these posts and will have to check out the books, but it will just be for fun, not for cooking. :-) Thanks, for this thread, Almeta!

I have heard nothing but Good recommendations for this recipe collection. People tend to say that everything they tried was worth it.

I don't really collect recipe books, but the few mentioned here have fun titles and the connections to the authors make them personal.

I will, however, be trying the "Death by Chocolate" Cake for a club meeting next week.
