Bxrlover | 109 comments Hi

My library finally got this program, but despite downloading Adobe, Overdrive Media Console and the app on my iphone, I can't see a way to get the downloaded books transferred to my iphone.

Does anyone know if this transfer is done through Adobe, Overdrive or itunes?

Thanx for any advice

MissSusie | 2421 comments Its through overdrive up in the toolbar should be a button that says transfer and it will search and find whatever device you have hooked up.

Bxrlover | 109 comments Thanks, but the book goes into Adobe, not Overdrive. I can't get it out of Adobe onto my phone.
??????????????????????????????????????

MissSusie | 2421 comments If it went into Adobe you downloaded and e-book not an audiobook and I haven't worked with those through overdrive so not sure what you should do sorry.

Heidi | 1546 comments On my Cruz ereader I downloaded the Overdrive app and Adobe reader and both my ebooks and my audiobooks appear in my Overdrive console after I check them out and download them - not sure why yours is not working as I don't have an iphone...sorry!

Carrie (goodreadscomkeridwynn) | 43 comments I think I know what's going on. First of all, you didn't download an audiobook. Secondly, because you have an iPhone (and this goes for an iPad as well), you will need to get an app in order to be able to read it on your iPhone. I think it's an "Apple" thing where you are unable to use the Adobe (.pdf) type files on it.

What I managed to do to get ebooks to work on my iPad was using Bluefire Reader: http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/bluefi.... Well, I should clarify, my husband managed to set it up. I had just read and found out about Bluefire Reader.

Since he finally managed to get it set up (he was working on a PC and not the Mac--I'm a Mac user), I will need to see if he remembers how it worked after the app was installed on the iPad.

I'm not sure if the downloaded ebook will automatically go there or not. I don't want to tell you the wrong thing. He's sick today so I might not be able to get you an answer today, but I'll see what I can do tomorrow if you are still having trouble. Good luck and I hope this clears up your problem.

Lori (twizzle777) | 191 comments @Bxrlover - You have to have your i-pod set so that you manually update. Then, from Overdrive you should be able to click on "Transfer" and have it transfer to your ipod.

Did you ever get this figured out? The people at my library are clueless. Help

Terry Susie, You were very helpful when I was learning to do this with the Audiobooks. The Ebooks is not working so seamlessly. The library had me download Adobe and change something in my windows default. The ebook goes into that now. I then deleted the Adobe and tried to get the ebook into overdrive. I am completely at a loss. Thanks

John | 3919 comments Terry --

EBOOKS are supposed to go to Adobe, and then transferred to your reading device! The library staff gave correct advice; you should not have deleted it.

AUDIOBOOKS are downloaded to Overdrive manager, and then transferred from there to your audio device!

John,

How do you then get the ebook from Adope to the device there was no transfer button or anything that shows to import to device.

John,

The library site says this "Overdrive"

How to Find OverDrive eBooks
Finding eBooks in the Library Catalog
You can find our OverDrive eBook titles by searching the Library Catalog for "OverDrive and eBook." You may also come across eBooks in your normal Library Catalog searches for other library materials. Either way, you will be able to view and, in some cases, checkout and download an eBook.
Finding eBooks in our Digital Media Library at OverDrive
You can find eBooks on OverDrive by visiting the site and searching or browsing for eBooks. You can also use the Quick Search option on the home page of the site. Or, you can use the Advanced Search option to construct a more complex search; select the format as EPUB to just see the OverDrive eBooks.

John | 3919 comments That is correct. Overdrive is where one goes to browse and check out ebooks. They are downloaded via Adobe to the Adobe Digital Editions software on one's computer, and then transferred to the e-reader from there. What I'm trying to get across here is that the Overdrive Manager software has nothing to do with ebooks at all - period. It is for audiobooks only!

To get an ebook from your computer (@ADE) to your device, you have to "authorize" your device with Adobe first. Your library site should have full instructions on that, as well as transferring ebooks in general.

I don't want to butt in or anything, but I had some trouble at the beginning understanding the transfer thing, too. What I ended up doing, Terry, was "saving" the ebook file on my desktop, opening Adobe Digital, drop and drag into Adobe Digital, then plug in your ereader by USB. The ereader should show up as an icon in Adobe Digital. Drop and drag the ebook file into the ereader icon. Then you may want to look into your ereader to make sure the file is stored in the right place so that it manifests when you disconnect. That may be round-about for some, but it works for me.

You put the info much better than I could've! Transferring books is one of those things that seems easy once you've done it a couple of times, or had someone there in person to walk you through it.

Terry I went to the Overdrive app on my phone that months ago Suzie told me about. BINGO who needs the computer. Thanks for all the advice.
