Hayley (mrsjohnson1985) Ooh I like the new spreadsheet that was created with names! I added some too :)

Lizz (Beer, Books and Boos) | 809 comments Thanks for everyone that has been adding names and working the spreadsheet. I'm new at making spreadsheets.

Lizz (Beer, Books and Boos) | 809 comments Oh and should we add the what book it is in the series?

message 456: by D.G. (new)

D.G. | 4477 comments Thanks for the spreadsheet, Lizz! It looks great!

Lizz - Would you be open to putting the male names in a second tab? That way we don't have to scroll down so much (it will get worse as more books are added.)

message 457: by Lisa Kay (new)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 1885 comments Okay, I'm in. I added a bunch of names to the spreadsheet. Helpful if you like Westerns and Regency.

Jane (PS) | 24334 comments Lizz - I intend to get into your spreadsheet and add what I can but just not sure when! Thanks for setting it up. :)

I found two also, but I don't know how much he is in these books. Does any one else?

Dark Celebration=Xavier: the powerful dark mage that threatens the existence of the Carpathians.
Dark Celebration (Carpathians, #17) by Christine Feehan

Dark Demon=Xavier: the wizard that kidnapped Rhiannon and killed her lifemate.
Dark Demon (Carpathians, #16) by Christine Feehan

Also Xavier=Lady Whistledown Strikes Back in short story The Best of Both Worlds by Suzanne Enoch. Will a short story count?
Lady Whistledown Strikes Back (Includes Lady Whistledown, #2) by Julia Quinn

Tania | 644 comments He's in them both as the force behind all the evil doings. I'd say Razavan's book is the best one where you get a real feel for him. But luckily our host knows these books back to front so will be able to tell you.

LOL! Yes - I am a Feehan Fan! :)

Dark Curse and Dark Slayer have quite a bit of Xavier in them.

Dark Demon really brings the mage line as Natalya is Razvan's twin sister and she has flashbacks to her Grandfather (Xavier) so there should be good Xavier in that book as well.

Xavier's presence is not as prominant in Dark Celebration but it certainly may be enough - I can't remember exactly... I'm thinking maybe not, but there could be significant discussion of Xavier due to the pregnancy issues...

Plus we have the evil character rule - where evil may be silent so long as there is a good impression of the character, so some of the other Carpathian books may qualify as well...

Hi Lisa - the book in paperback (MMPB preferably) format has to be at least 150 pages to count. Check out the FAQs on page 1 of this thread - there are some extra rules on anthologies and series of shorter stories...

Yes, I read them, Jane. :) However, this book is an anthology and, though Xavier only has one short story, his character is mentioned in all the other stories in the book. If I read the whole book, does this count?

message 469: by Mojca (new)

Mojca | 1414 comments I created an additional sheet, so the girl names are on one and boy names are on the other. I think it'll be easier to navigate.

P.S. Love the names in red!! :)

Dee (austhokie) | 7316 comments I have to admit, i've taken to keeping a pen and paper by the bed to write down characters as I come accross them in books

message 475: by Jane (PS), Moderator (new)

Jane (PS) | 24334 comments I'm writing them in my diary - especially with the audiobooks 'cos it's harder to skip back to find the name later...

LOL, Dee! I'm doing something similar with audiobooks!

I keep track of each book in the Notes app on my iPod and I write the name of each character that shows up more than once.

D.G. | 4477 comments About the spreadsheet...when you add your books, just be careful that you don't change something in other cells. I just went to add a name and saw that the author of a book I added yesterday was different! :)

D.G. | 4477 comments Question...didn't somebody say that there was a Jeremiah in City of Bones?

I have more than 10 names already in my 1000+ pg. book , so I need to pick and choose which ones to use.

message 480: by Tania (new)

Tania | 644 comments I've printed out the names and keep that with me. The I write down the book next to the name as I come across it. If I use it then I cross the name out. It's working so far...

I'm on track so far, I figure I need to do 34 names per month to complete the challenge. I'm also determined that I'm not going to read a book that I'm not in the mood to read just to complete the challenge so I'm glad to see the spreadsheet filled with books that are on my tbr list or my check-out notebook.

Just checked for you and yes there's a Jeremiah.

message 482: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 1103 comments I asked about Xavier in the Feehan books already and was told he was OK to use as long as he's still an "evil" presence in the books.

message 483: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 1103 comments There's quite a few names in A Discovery of Witches. I'm not even that far into it and I have: Matthew, Sarah, Emily, Sean and Jillian so far. Possibly Christopher too if he reappears.

message 484: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 1103 comments I am also a big Feehan fan.

Do we need a Feehan support group?

message 485: by D.G. (new)

So far I'm doing great with the men but sucking with the ladies.

message 486: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 7316 comments ditto...good with the men sucky with the ladies...I keep finding names and its like, that one has to be there...and then nope..i.e. Lisa, Rebecca

message 487: by D.G. (new)

D.G. | 4477 comments I know, Dee!

Right now I'm reading a book where the heroine's name is Alix. I mean c'mon! Why couldn't she be Alexa, Alexandra, Alexis, Allison or Alyssa?

I also have an 'Audriana' on a book from my TBR. Grrr!! I'm hoping somebody calls her Audrey for short.

message 488: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 1103 comments I've had a lot of unique names too that weren't on the list. I think "darn, that should be on the list because it's hard to find".

message 490: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 7316 comments good to know! haha! I was in bed reading last and came accross a name, and couldn't remember if it was onthe list, so I had to get out of bed, find paper and pen to write it down - because I knew I would forget...lol!

message 491: by Hayley (new)

Hayley (mrsjohnson1985) LOL @ Dee. I have the list of names on a piece of paper that I bookmark my page with! Otherwise I will completely forget names... Of course though half of the names in the books I've been reading aren't on the list *GO FIGURE*.

message 492: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 7316 comments i know right!! lol! i figure i'll just make a list and when the book is finished mark off the up to 4 names that I find - if I have more, then whoever I remember the most

Tina "IRead2Escape" (tinar1121) | 1292 comments Can someone give me the location of this spreadsheet? I am so excited to check it out.

is it one of the silent brothers

message 496: by D.G. (new)

D.G. | 4477 comments Thanks Lizz. I'll use Jeremiah for CoB then.

Even without that one, I still have 11 names I can use in TFC. So far I've been finding some of the difficult boy ones.

Not many luck with the women though...of the 11, I have 2 women and 9 men!

message 497: by Tania (new)

Tania | 644 comments Hi Jane,

Can I get an official ruling on Amber Eyes and Golden Eyes please. They were both published seperately (which is what I have) and then last year together in Wild.

Wild is 272 pages. Is it okay if I read my two ebooks and consider it the equivalent of Wild? I'd still only be taking up to four names for the two stories.

Brother Jeremiah is the main 'silent brother' (so clearly no conversations) but he is a key player and I think there is enough characterisation for him to be marked off :)
