~KarenH~ | 11349 comments I've never had any illusions that I might actually finish - I've got too many other challenges going and have to use the books I can fit into them. I'm actually pleased just to have passed the halfway point on both the girls' and boys' lists!

message 1352: by D.G. (new)

D.G. | 4477 comments I definitely won't finish. I just don't read fast enough and I've been reading a lot of fantasy lately, which don't have many names.

If I finish with 125 names, I'd consider myself lucky. :)

message 1353: by Tricia (new)

Tricia Schneider (triciaschneider) | 227 comments It's not easy either when you have to decide between if you're going to write or read. Oh, the reading has so much temptation! And, I especially love these challenges. But, the writing must come first! I'm hoping to at least finish halfway.

message 1354: by Lindy (new)

Lindy (lindylee) | 260 comments It took me 2 weeks to find the last name Kylie, no one would ship it to me...lol. But now I am done.

message 1355: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 1103 comments Woohoo Lindy!

I have been slacking off on finding names lately. I log one in when I come across one but I haven't been actively reading books I know have names in them.

The only name that I don't physically have a book for is Brooklyn. I keep forgetting to request Homicide in Hardcover from the library.

message 1356: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 1103 comments Is there an actual character named Brooklyn in All The Way Home? I looked it up on Amazon to see if I would be interested in reading it an the book search only brings up the city of Brooklyn.

message 1357: by Lindy (new)

Lindy (lindylee) | 260 comments Here is what i read

Brooklyn 7/25 Giff, Patricia Reilly All the way home

message 1358: by Mary X (last edited Sep 26, 2011 07:00PM) (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 1103 comments I'll just get Homicide in Hardcover from the library.

I still need a Jeremiah too, I'll have to see what people have used for that. I have a couple possibles from that I can get from the library.

ETA: my library has Welcome to Harmony which also has Reagan. So I'll get that if I have time.

NocturnalRavings(Jodie) (mistrissmoon) | 270 comments There's a Regan in The MacKade Brothers: Rafe and Jared,a Savannah and a Devin. :D

message 1360: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 1103 comments I read that one before this. I have a couple of Regan's it's the Jeremiah I'm having trouble with. I thought there's be one in Crave by JR Ward but he was only mentioned.

I scrolled through peoples lists and picked up a few more Jeremiah ideas. But I'll prob just do Welcome to Harmony because I know it has 2 names in it that I need.

message 1361: by D.G. (new)

D.G. | 4477 comments There's a Jeremiah in City of Bones.

message 1362: by Lindy (new)

Lindy (lindylee) | 260 comments I found Jeremiah in both: Han, Jenny We Will Always Have Summer
5/31 Montanari, Richard The Echo Man

message 1363: by Jane (PS), Moderator (new)

Jane (PS) | 24334 comments CONGRATULATIONS LINDY!!! I think you are our third finisher! Great achievement :)

message 1364: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 1103 comments Does the quiet thread mean everyone's given up?

I'm only about 10 names away from finishing. I have a book for every name. It's just a matter of can I get them read in time or not.

message 1365: by D.G. (new)

D.G. | 4477 comments Wow, Mary! Try to finish!

I'm still working on my list but lately I've been finding a name per book IF I'm lucky...I've gone several weeks without finding a name.

message 1366: by ~KarenH~, Moderator (new)

~KarenH~ | 11349 comments Time for that final sprint to the finish line! :) I've pretty much finished all my other current challenges for this month, so I'm going to spend the next couple of weeks actually putting this one first. Once I finish the book I'm reading I'm going to TRY to only read books that have at least 2 names in them. I don't know if I'll be able to find enough of those to keep me going to the end of the month, but I do have a few lined up. I'm at 125 names now, so there's no way I can even come close to completing the entire list, but it's always nice to finish strong!

message 1367: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 1103 comments That's been my problem-only 1 needed name per book lately.

I took a half an hour at my local library to go through the little series romances. I found a lot of names I still needed through those. I wouldn't pay money for them but they're quick, fun reads. I wouldn't have finished w/o them. I can read 5 or 6 of them over a weekend if I don't have anything happening.

message 1368: by Lindy (new)

Lindy (lindylee) | 260 comments If anyone needs Kylie the latest from James Patterson Kill Me has it

message 1369: by Dina (new)

Dina (missdina) | 807 comments I've given up. I can't find any names anymore and I won't read a book just because it has a name I "need". It was fun while it lasted. :)

message 1370: by Lindy (new)

Lindy (lindylee) | 260 comments you are missing out then, i have found so many great new authors by reading people i haven't read before.

message 1371: by Dina (new)

Dina (missdina) | 807 comments So many books, so little time. ;)

message 1372: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 7316 comments I got totally distracted with a couple of other big challenges...not many of these names are showing up in the various african/russian books i've been reading lately

message 1373: by Lynne (new)

Lynne (lovetoreadgal) | 1182 comments I'm down to 5 names. But, of course, they are all in different books, but I think I'm on track to finish! Keep you fingers crossed...

message 1374: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 1103 comments Ugh. I always wanted to try a Jackie Collins book to see why she's so popular. So I picked up an audiobook that had a Madison in it for this. I should have known to get it print when I saw that the author is the narratory. They alwasy suck at it in my experiece and JC is no exception. But I shall plow through I guess. It's pretty short. It looks like she narrates all her own books so I'll have to get print if I want to try her again.

message 1375: by Mary X (last edited Oct 18, 2011 11:05AM) (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 1103 comments I actually like the little series romances. I would just never pay any money for them or use a credit/point from a book trading site. But they're entertaining and quick little reads. And now I know that I would like to try a full length Brenda Jackson or Day Leclaire book. (ok so maybe that's a bad thing because the last thing I need is 2 new authors to start acquiring).

ETA: I'm still 10 away. That 10 I posted yesterday didn't include the names I had just crossed off after getting at the library. I read them last night.

I went through my list of used books so far and 74 of the 94 books I've used were books already in my TBR. Which begs the question-why is my TBR larger than it was 6months ago? The other 20 wer library books so free.

message 1376: by Lindy (new)

Lindy (lindylee) | 260 comments I read one, while I never finished it and still dont' know why anyone would read her.

. I always wanted to try a Jackie Collins book to see why she's so popular.

message 1377: by Jane (PS), Moderator (new)

Jane (PS) | 24334 comments I'm sort of still going - just having trouble remembering to mark off names on my list once I have read/listened to a book!

Vampire Academy had FOUR names for me the other day! So chuffed by that discovery :)

message 1378: by NocturnalRavings(Jodie) (last edited Oct 20, 2011 08:44PM) (new)

NocturnalRavings(Jodie) (mistrissmoon) | 270 comments There's a Sydney and an Adrian later in the series. I think Blood Promise for Sydney and Shadow Kiss for Adrian? And the ones after,of course. Actually,Bloodlines is a spin-off that has her and Adrian in it.

message 1379: by Lisa Kay (last edited Oct 20, 2011 11:05PM) (new)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 1885 comments This challenge still haunts me. I'll read an name and think, "Was that on the list? I think it was one the list."

message 1380: by D.G. (new)

D.G. | 4477 comments LOL, Lisa Kay! Me too!

Specially with those women's names started with K. I've found like a gazillion that are not on the list of course.

message 1381: by Lacy (new)

Lacy (lacy_stewart) | 1966 comments I kept a post-it in the front of the book to write down the names I needed to check! Boy, did I get teased by my family in the beginning!

I'm still playing, but I will never finish in time. Plus this month is slow in the reading department. Nothing is grabbing me. Which is not good for the game. I need about 93 more names!

I had fun with this though.

message 1382: by Lisa Kay (last edited Oct 21, 2011 09:37AM) (new)

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 1885 comments This one was so deceptive, IMHO. I thought it was going to be a breeze. I kept thinking there was a name from the list only to compare and not find it there. It made me more aware of names, however. And now, when I build a challenge, I usually add a character’s name as an option.

message 1383: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 1103 comments Yeah I did that a lot too. A name yay! only to find that it wasn't on the list and then thinking how could that name not be on the list!

I'm so close but I have book club books to read. I don't think they'll have any names that I haven't used yet. But I haven't given up!

message 1384: by Lacy (new)

Lacy (lacy_stewart) | 1966 comments It was deceptive! Definitely more challenging than I thought it would be!

message 1385: by Lynne (new)

Lynne (lovetoreadgal) | 1182 comments It was so hard to remember what names you needed. I started keeping a list of the names and writing notes. I feel very OCD. I even started grilling my daughter about the books she was reading and what the characters names were. I'm down to two names, Carson and Kaylee. I have the books and just need to get reading. I'm feeling very ready to be done.

message 1386: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 1103 comments I have all the ones I need to finish it's just a matter of getting them in in time.

Any word on what the next tournament will be? I really need something to encourage me to finish up some series. Maybe another round of the one last time where we got pts for connecting titles. A lot of my series books have common title themes.

message 1387: by NocturnalRavings(Jodie) (last edited Oct 21, 2011 11:23PM) (new)

NocturnalRavings(Jodie) (mistrissmoon) | 270 comments LOL,I've written down a list too!
And Supernatural has a Jacob,an Isabella/Bella and a Nathan. It also has a Laylah, but apparently that's not on the list. xD
And Howl's Moving Castle has an Annabelle,a Michael and a Benjamen. And it's a pretty awesome book. :D

NocturnalRavings(Jodie) (mistrissmoon) | 270 comments I have a question: McKenna and Makenna? I would pronounce them the same...

And also,in the Georgina Kincaid series, would Seth's nieces be eligible? I'm on Succubus on Top.

message 1389: by Lynne (new)

Lynne (lovetoreadgal) | 1182 comments I finished today!! Thanks for the fun challenge!

The McKenna/Makenna names sound fine to me :)

I haven't read the Succubus books so I don't know anything about Seth's nieces... ie age, portrayal etc. Perhaps someone else could give an idea on this? I know Dee has read these books...

Jane (PS) | 24334 comments Lynne wrote: "I finished today!! Thanks for the fun challenge!"

Well done Lynne!!! Congratulations!

NocturnalRavings(Jodie) (mistrissmoon) | 270 comments Thanks Jane! I'll wait for Dee's judgement on the other part. :D

message 1393: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 1103 comments Good for you!

I have 9 names left to get done in the next week.

message 1394: by D.G. (new)

D.G. | 4477 comments I only read the first book where the nieces show up once so I couldn't use the names (I think all 4 of them have names in the list.)

message 1395: by Lynne (new)

Lynne (lovetoreadgal) | 1182 comments Thanks Jane and Mary! Keep on reading Mary. You can do it!

message 1396: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 1103 comments I'm so busy this week. I want to buy a new car (getting a Suburu Outback) before the end of month, Wed is book club night at On The Border, Friday Night is a Haunted Hayride with some friends and then taking my daughter Trick or Treating. She doesn't even have a costume yet so we have to do that.

Hopefully Friday at work will be slow. I'm here by myself most of the day on fridays and can read if I have no work to do.

NocturnalRavings(Jodie) (mistrissmoon) | 270 comments In the second one, they're mentioned quite a few times through out the book and they show up twice.
Kendall,Kayla,Morgan and McKenna are their names.
I was just hoping,'cause I have about 70 left....

Hmmm, I may have to try to fit that one in (I've read the first one) since I still need three of those names!

message 1399: by Erin (new)

Erin H I'm not going to finish this one but I had fun trying!!

NocturnalRavings(Jodie) (mistrissmoon) | 270 comments There's also a Wyatt. But I'm still waiting on the final judgement...
