Sinclair Books discussion

I have been uming and ahing over doing a blog tour for a while. I know some of the authors here do blog tours, but I was wondering how successful have they been and how do you keep the interest levels up day in, day out? Any information or advice would be appreciated.

I'm doing one now, and am getting some reviews out of it, plus some giveaways. Some stops are better than others. Depends on traffic, and I"m a new, unknown author too with little fanbase. When it's over, I'll let you know what I think.

I have seen your blog tour Mysti. I would say it is going really well. I find the blogs really interesting. I am still undecided at the moment and not really sure if I can do it because Sinclair Books has become a full-time job, lol.

I got invited to go on a huge blog tour but they want to create a carnival atmosphere with lots of visuals and all and I feel that I want to be more serious and concentrate on getting my writing out there either as a book I wrote, a serial short piece I have or other writing, not gimmicks. So I turned them down. What do you all think? Was that the right thing to do?

In my opinion, the blog tours that would really make a difference are priced too high for a struggling author to afford. But if you don't afford it, you may stay a struggling author. Catch 22.

Isn't it possible for us to do our own blog tour?

The more I look into it. I think blog tours are doable. You just need the contacts. You have to approach people and say. Hi, can I post this on your blog and in return I will announce your blog on my blog, my facebook, myspace, facebook group and then try to keep it going. I don't think i will do a blog tour now. If I can get spots on blogs I would love to leave new excerpts and giveaways, but my main focus now if Sinclair Books. To be honest with you. I have sold more books talking to people one on one, it is a long way to do it, but just talking about books works for me.
