Alex Sinclair Five Days Notice is my next big book coming out. I just finished designing the front cover & the blurb. I would love to hear what you think. The book isn't out yet. Just the cover & blurb. It is at the top of the page here... what do you think?

Missy Martine (missymartine) | 88 comments Wicked! The book sounds awesome. When's it due out? The cover compliments the title and the blurb, the dark, dismal bluish overcast leaving you with a sinister, end of the world type feeling. It looks like a winner, Alex.

message 3: by Alex (new)

Alex Sinclair lol, thank you Missy. I have been so nervous about the cover and blurb. I am not sure when I intend to put it out. I think a day, a week or two. I am not to sure. I want to do a trailer for it first, but I don't think it will be too long. I think this is the one book I have been the most excited about. So starting to feel the nerves now, lol.

Therese Gilardi | 58 comments i love the cover! so ... mysterious.

message 5: by Alex (new)

Alex Sinclair lol, thank you Therese. I was going to go with a different cover, but had last minute doubts, so went out with my camera and drove out to a few spots to get the shots I wanted and threw that together, lol. I kind of like the finished product.

Therese Gilardi | 58 comments question: does anyone know how i can correct my book's entry into the goodreads data base?

message 7: by Alex (new)

Alex Sinclair What is it you are trying to edit. I know how to change a few things.

message 8: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth (trishwilsonelizabethblack) | 30 comments Oooh, very intriguing! And the cover is eye-catching.

message 9: by Alex (new)

Alex Sinclair Thank you Elizabeth. I do like my colourful covers. I try to do something different, as many of my covers (those coming out too) are landscape images, which I love, but just wanted something different for once.

hi, i can't get to my author page - very frustrating. i don't know how my book even made it on, but i'm not finding a way on there - and it's not right. the blurb is just code and there's no cover picture. thanks for any suggestions.

Love the cover and blurb. This is a winner, Alex.

message 12: by Alex (new)

Alex Sinclair Thank you Jean. I do like the cover. My favourite one so far.

Author Page... ah okay. Your profile page is not an author account. I had to do this about a week ago because I realised I didn't have an author account. Basically find your book, then click on your own name where it says author, to the left of the page it should say "Is this you?" if you select yes, it joins the accounts and that gives you control. If your book is on amazon, barnes and nobel and so on it automatically adds to goodreads.

Did this help?

Elaine Cantrell (elainecantrell) | 87 comments Seriously, I love the cover. The blurb captured my attention too. I love catastrophe-new civilization books.

Thank you, Alex! This helped immensely. I applied for an author page here. This is great.

message 15: by Alex (new)

Alex Sinclair Thank you Elaine, Jean. I am always worried about the blurbs. I think the blurbs for my first few books didn't do them much justice, but Five Days Notice seems to sum up the theme and feel of the story pretty well.

I think it's great. I've just rewritten my blurb for Sunny Days. Based on the feedback I'm getting from readers of the Sunday snippets, I've changed the emphasis a little, adjusted it based on reader comments. Let's see if it helps sales.

message 17: by Alex (new)

Alex Sinclair The Sunday Snippets are really good. The short excerpts really seem to work. And the new blurb looks really good.

Thank you, Alex. I'm trying to use reader feedback to change my blurbs. Listening to readers...

message 19: by Alex (new)

Alex Sinclair I try not to change anything once a book is complete, but I plan to do sequels to, Under The Midnight Sky, Bitch & Before The Dawn and I know what people loved about the first ones, so will give them what they loved and then make the sequels even better.

Readers do want more of books they love. This sounds like a good plan to me.

message 21: by Alex (new)

Alex Sinclair I never start a book with a sequel in mind, but I am going to focus on the books that have had most success. Bitch, being the gothic erotica, no romance, no love story, but is dark and sexy. Is my best seller, lol, which I didn't expect, but would love to do more with the story.

I think sequels grow out of books. I hadn't planned on doing three sequels, but characters from my first book just grabbed me. Then I fell in love with everyone and didn't want to leave Willow Falls. So I stayed for another 1,000 pages, lol!

message 23: by Alex (new)

Alex Sinclair lol, 1000 pages! That is an insane amount. I think I will just take it as it comes. Five Days Notice is my pet project. I am already working on Five Days Notice 2: The Hand of God, but Bitch, Under The Midnight Sky & Before The Dawn will be written if and when i have the time.

I was driven. Everything else in my life stopped and I was like a person possessed.

message 25: by Alex (new)

Alex Sinclair I will need some of that drive to do the sequels. I have it for five days notice. I love the first book and the second is taking the story in a new direction and very excited about it.

Jean (jeanjay) | 249 comments Mod
That's wonderful! Stories and their characters burn inside me, forcing me to write. They have driven me onward. I have a few more, knocking on my head, impatient to be heard.

message 27: by Alex (new)

Alex Sinclair lol, I think that is a good sign. I have ideas about what I want to write, but stories like, Bitch, will be hard to do because its a sexy revenge story and to keep that going I am going to have to be clever with the plot. The trouble is that it may become same old, same old.

message 28: by Jean (new)

Jean (jeanjay) | 249 comments Mod
Not every book commands a sequel. Sometimes it's best to leave a plot. None of my sequels have the same plot line. They have a familiar character, but the plot is always different. I can see that Bitch might be hard to continue.
