A.G. Claymore | 5 comments I have a Science Fiction title "The Black Ships" that I would love to get some reviews on. It's a loose adaptation of the Japanese experiences with western forces (most notably the fleet of ships under Commodore Perry).
In this story, humanity wakes up one morning to find that our first attempt at a manned colony on Mars has been wiped out by some rather unfriendly visitors.
The story explores what happens when we realize that our new neighbors are using the red planet to stage a full scale invasion of Earth.

If anyone is interested in doing a review, I could send them a copy from Amazon (eBook only at this point). The Black Ships by A.G. Claymore

Hi,
I'd love some more reviews on my novel Quest. I can provide PDF or epub format if you're interested...

Two powers, two quests, two fates...two mortals struggling against the very forces with which they might have aligned themselves, had they been given the opportunity to choose. Two mortals, light and dark, locked into one intense battle. A battle of which the end has already been written in blood. A blood not their own, just as the battle is not their own. And yet, they must fight.
The year is 2E739, the second millennium since Euroclydonus, the last epic battle to shake Wundyrr's foundations. Two thousand years of peace--at least between mortal and spiritual elements--and now, the hidden script of a writing called simply "the prophecy" threatens to immerse the world of Wundyrr once more in a hideous battle, the likes of which could very well rival the infamous Euroclydonus.
Tiernan Lebonn is the single last link between Wundyrr and vitality. Should he fail in his impossible quest to seal evil once more within its fiery prison, the shadow will rise up to devour not only him, but also the world he calls home.
His counterpart, Shiloh of Cheokk, has been steeped in darkness since the day she was born and is bent on winning her own glory through the very disaster Tiernan is trying to prevent.
For either one to claim victory, they must completely lose themselves within the essence of their quests and trust that the powers to which they have surrendered will bear them up in triumph.
But as with any battle, only one can claim the victory. Or perhaps neither can.

Hock Tjoa (hockgtjoa) | 85 comments Hi Everyone,

This is to invite you to read and review "Gathering Clouds" by James Field, a work of science fiction that I have reviewed in Goodreads and Amazon.

Many indie-authors trade reviews, but a direct swap will most probably result in a biased review. Instead, a fellow indie-writer has suggested this form of voluntary, anonymous and unbiased reviews, with the following procedure:

Sample and assess:
Gathering Clouds (check it out here in Goodreads and sample it on Amazon's "Look Inside." If you feel comfortable reviewing it and would like to participate, send me an email to tjoa-dot-books-at-gmail-dot-com. I will interpret 'no reply' as 'no thank you' and respect your wishes.

If you wish to proceed, this is what will happen:

1. I will send you a free PDF copy of: Gathering Clouds, and a free PDF copy of 'My Book', (Heaven is High and the Emperor is Far Away…a play set in China in the 1940s). Read and review: 'Gathering Clouds, and give it an honest, objective, and courteous review. Leave the review on your favorite online distributor, but also on: Goodreads

2. Use this email as a template, changing names, book titles and links. Scan web sites for promising indie-authors and, using this modified email, invite any number to review 'My Book'. (The number of potential reviewers for 'Your Book,' depends on the number of reviewers you find for 'My Book.')

3. If they wish to proceed, send each of them a free PDF copy of 'My Book', and a free PDF copy of 'Your Book'.

4. As the feed progresses, your invited indie-authors will present 'Your Book' for review, and, hopefully, you will receive reviews from one or more persons unknown to you.

Notes:

There is no money exchanged, and the only risk is discouraging reviews. The number of reviews you receive depends on how many authors you solicit, and how many they, in their turn, solicit.

Sincerely,

Hock G. Tjoa

The Battle of Chibi (2010)--see Amazon.

Heaven is High and the Emperor Far Away (2011)--see Smashwords.

No but I often receive no response from them. My reviews are not mean or cruel but more constructive criticism. But hey, they are artists, and that makes them care immensely for their product. I rarely will be negative (maybe never?)because I can appreciate their efforts but I am honest and praise the good parts and question the parts that I deem lacking.

I hope you have a chance to pick up your own copy, and I’d be really grateful for any of your reviews on Goodreads and/or Amazon.

Here is the Amazon link:

And a little bit about the story:

It’s love on the high seas for Dean, a thirty-something bachelor taking his first cruise, hoping for a shipboard romance. On the prowl for the elusive hard-body, he quickly becomes disillusioned, wondering if his expectation of a boatload of beautiful sea nymphs is something found only in travel brochures.

Until he meets Angel.

She is the girl of his dreams, brought to life as a bewitching goddess, ready to engage in every sensual delight. Quickly lured into submission by Angel’s seductive charms, Dean is ready to surrender his heart and soul to this provocative beauty.

Until he meets Marcie . . .

Bill Cokas (bcokas) | 7 comments Not sure if this is the right thread for this, but how would you handle this? I approached a reader through Goodreads because he read (and seemed to like) an author whose work mine resembles. I asked if he'd like a free e-copy of either of my books, and IF he liked it, I'd appreciate a review. Well, he didn't like it, and posted a negative review full of spoilers. Should I just let it go? I don't mind getting a negative review from an anonymous reader, but I found him and sent him the book to begin with, so aren't the "rules" a little different in that case?

Allison Bruning | 9 comments I am looking for reviews on my historical fiction novel, Calico. It is written in the voice of the Shawnee Native Americans. Here is a brief synopsis,
A haunting prophecy has been cast against her. In a harsh world deep within the western American territories of Ohio and Kentucky, French Duchess Calico Marie Turner must learn to survive among the Shawnee and to trust the one man who hates her the most, Chief Little Owl Quick as the Wind.

Calico’s story will immerse you deeply into the world of the frontier Shawnee, where you will find characters at once surreal and totally believable. Bruning’s knowledge of Native American and colonial era language is captivating to read. Her understanding of the period clothing, habits, and lifestyle is evident as she weaves a tale that draws you in from the first chapter and leaves you hungry for more.

Please email me at [email protected] if you are interested. I can provide a free copy of the ebook.

Ruby Barnes (rubybarnes) Hi all. The Crucible (Part 1) by Ruby Barnes is my latest release and I'd love to have you review it (mobi, epub, pdf available, paperback will be out back of summer) Please send me a message if you're interested.

Southern Cameroon, West Africa 1936
A virus mutated and crossed the barrier from primate to human. In less than a century it had claimed the lives of twenty-five million people. Africa, a land of natural beauty and riches, ripe for plunder, full of dark menace.

In a near future scenario of viral pandemic, global religious conflict, climate change and mass migration, America and the Middle East are locked in a religious fundamentalist race to Armageddon, while the old nations of Europe flex their imperial muscles. Will mankind rediscover the Garden of Eden or ignite the crucible of the apocalypse?

The Europeans are using stealth and Thomas is the most deadly of mercenaries. Any conscience he had died with his wife and children under a blood-soaked African sun. He works for an agency with a taste for righting wrongs on a grand scale - an organisation with deep pockets, altruistic motives and a pragmatic approach to the dispensation of justice.
Greg is a failed philanderer and small-time inventor, struggling to earn a crust for his family. When the enigmatic Thomas steals his identity, Greg is lured into a web of global corruption, conspiracy and murder. But are these unlikely friends really on the side of good or evil?

"The author has successfully employed flashback in time throughout the book. As the story progresses the reader can understand how Marc’s past experiences are an important part of the present. Marc’s recollections fall into place as the layers of his life experiences throughout the war unfold. I highly recommend the book as poignant, compelling, and provocative. The book provides an excellent historical chronicle of life during World War II in France and the importance of the Resistance." Please message me if you have an active book review site and are interested in this title. I can provide a Smashwords coupon for the title in most popular formats.

Root Bound (Emma & the Elementals, #1) by Tanya Karen Gough Root Bound is a children's fantasy novel about finding one's place in the world.

The Story:
Emma and her father are always on the move, travelling from place to place as her father’s work demands. Their new home, however, is different. There’s a frightening woman who lives down the hall: she bears an uncanny resemblance to a witch. A mysterious light comes from her apartment, and a small boy seems to be trapped inside.

School in this town is no happy place either, with an odd principal and a gang of girls who make tormenting Emma their special project. And strangest of all is the fact that there seem to be brownies - basement brownies, in the air vent in her bedroom.

Haunted by visions of her mother, Emma travels through the brownie burrow to the valley of Hades to visit with the goddess Ceres, following a series of clues that lead her across the sea of memory to the centre of the world.

There, on an inhospitable rock floating in a sea of steaming lava, Emma must find a way to release her mother from the sea of memory and restore magic to both the brownie burrow and the human world above.

Natalie (nataliekreinert) | 12 comments Hello!

I have a best-seller in the horse racing, equestrian, and sports fiction genres at Amazon, and I'm looking for some new reviews from outside of the horse community.

THE HEAD AND NOT THE HEART is not just a horse story; it's a story about finding oneself, it's a love story, it's a what-if story. Alex has spent her entire life with horses, and it doesn't look like she will ever do anything else. Suddenly suffocated by the insular equestrian community of Ocala, Florida, where she manages a racing and breeding farm with her partner, she is already looking for an out when the loss of a beloved horse sends her over the edge.

In order to pick up the pieces of their life, Alex hops a plane to New York, hoping to find a long-lost horse they'd once given up searching for. And once there, she decides to see, just go and find out, if she can give up her old life, and try on a new one.

A lost weekend, a quarter-life crisis, the depths of love and obsession: THE HEAD AND NOT THE HEART explores it all.

The Head and Not the Heart by Natalie Keller Reinert

I'd love to share the Kindle, PDF, or epub edition of this book with anyone who would like to review it for their blog or Amazon & GoodReads.

Thanks so much!

I'm an author and I'm about a month away from releasing book number 6. It's a sequel to my first book, Matt's War -- it took this long to finally come up with a story that eclipsed the original.

The book is an international thriller called "Daly Battles - A Matt Daly Adventure" A bit about it can be found here : http://www.tonymcfadden.net/wotb/?pag...

Back cover blurb:

"The World is Changing

Despots all over the world have fallen at the hands of the people, armed with determination and social media.

Now Matt Daly, owner of Digital Wireless Consultants and his friend and business partner, George Sahin, find themselves in a similar mess in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.

You may know it as North Korea.

Hired by Kim Jong-un - the new leader of the secretive country - to expand and improve the mobile telecommunications network, Matt and George believe they are on the bleeding edge of the opening up of last remaining dictatorships in the world.

They quickly discover how wrong they are."

If you'd like a review copy, please message me with the format you'd like (I'm using scrivener, so I can compile to mobi, edu, etc.), the blog where you review it and what kind of backlog you've got.

Also, if anyone knows of a reviewer focusing on thrillers, can you drop a note below? I'm looking myself, but my head is buried in final edits right now and I don't get many chances to come up for air.

Cheers,

Tony

"Profound Vignettes of, about, or because of Children.

At times chance enters our lives and we encounter moments created by a wordsmith that, like it or not, raise memories and experiences that we have either experienced, watched, heard about, or dreamed and the stories in Beverly Akerman's book of short stories THE MEANING OF CHILDREN do just that. They slowly creep into our psyches, clutch a holding place, and stay with us permanently. This collection of the whispers and screams, longings and needs of being a child and the responses of those closest to that child are the works of a magician, a writer of such substance that she is obviously headed to the top echelon of writers of our time..."

J. Ann (jann2012) | 6 comments I am looking for reviewers for my book Tormented. It's a Paranormal Romance/Suspence for older teens-adults.

If you are interested in this genre let me know. I have a smashwords coupon that you can use to download the main versions of my book.

Tormented is about a 22 year old woman named Angelina who fights vampires; with a group of people called Ultorums, for a living. When one of the Ultorums she is close to is killed, she drops everything she has ever learned and joins with the last person she would ever want to. Together they go on a mission to figure out what happened. But what find they may not necessarily like. (It does have a little romance in it, but it's not all romance)

Thank you,
J Ann

P.S. You can respond by replying here or you can also send me an e-mail at [email protected]
