Victoria Bosio 1) why can't Franky see that her dads the main bad guy and her moms just scared?

2)why didn't Franky tell anyone about how she was almost raped? did she feel she had to, for the family name?

Victoria Bosio At first I didn't really like the book, but once I got more into it i kinda fell in love with it. i finished it in like two hours cause i couldn't put it down. I feel bad for Franky, the last thing she said to her mom was I hate you. Her dad seemed to good at points and it seemed that he was always trying to get the kids to pick between either him or the mom. It also seemed that when the kids did side with the mom, he would punish them in some way that made it seem he wasn't. well i'm not going to say anymore...don't want to spoil anything:)

If you want my personal opinion for question number1, "Love is blind" this quote does not only apply to sexual partners but also towards family. I think that Franky was mostly in denial of what her father was doing, she saw it, but didn't want to believe it. She also blamed her mom for tearing apart her family because she left (regardless of how a household is the child always want the family together). Not only that but the things her dad was doing Franky kept on telling herself (in my understanding of the situation) "he does it because he loves us." (type deal).

The second question. I'm not too sure about this one. But I would ASSUME that she was too scared, of either the fact of being judged. The fact that she so carelessly was lead to that event and would be looked as "She asked for it" or she could be scared of the tabloids considering her fathers position in the sports world.

You have to realize I read this book several years ago, so I'm not too too sure if I can remember everything.

Samuel Okay, so in my understanding Franky had grown up in destructive family with a very abusive and dominant father, Reid Pierson. During her young days, where she got physically punished for doing wrong, she had learned to follow and trust her father, despite if what he was saying made sense or was correct. While she grew older, the behaviour stuck with her, and when she had to choose between mom or dad, well, the desicion was easy. During her stay in Skagit Harbor with Samanta and her mother she almost forgot how bad she had it at home, but when she met her father again she soon fell in line as she used to. The conclusion is that the father had built up a hierarchy where he is the leader and everyone else must follow his orders. How could you possibly stand up against that?
