Also, if you like young adult, the Vampire Academy series is really good! I'm not a huge fan of YA, but I loved these books. The first one is Vampire Academy.
I also just started the Argeneau series. They're a really cute read. I've only read the first one, but I definitely plan on reading more. The first one is A Quick Bite.
If you liked BDB, then you'll like the Midnight Breed series. I actually read this series before BDB and when I started reading BDB I could not get over how many similarities there were. But that only lasted a little into the first book. Because they're both great reads in their own right. The first one is Kiss of Midnight.
I also have a lot of books on my to-reads that I've heard good things about and are vamp series. But since I haven't read them, I'm hesitant to recommend them.
As a side note, I recently started a group: My Vampire Book Obsession. It might be a good place to find recommendations. I know some of the group members have read far more vamp books than I have.
Let me know if you have any questions about any of the series I've listed!

A new series that I just finished reading is The Mark of the Vampire. There are two books out so far, and the third will be out next February. It's a dark, hot series that really gripped me. The books are:

Get past the introduction in the first few chapters of Eternal Hunger and a tiny bit of purple prose and you won't be sorry.
And don't miss the "classic" series, Dark-Hunter, by Sherrilyn Kenyon. It's got a different take on vamps, and there are also shifters in the series. You can start with the prequel, Fantasy Lover, or start with the vamps in Night Pleasures.
Enjoy!

They are very different. If Angels Burn is very edgy, sexy but there's some violence. There's a fantastic suspenseful/conspiracy plot overarching, and some characters are seen throughout the books so it toes the line between PNR and UF. Some Girls Bite is more chick-litish because of the witty, humorous tone and the fact that relationships (romantic and non) take predominance over plot. But it's mature too, the main character isn't shallow and there other themes, like vamp politics, etc.

I just wanted to say that I personally love the Morganville Vampire Series!!!! Awesome vampire series

I think there's Tales of Aradia the last witch it's the first in it's series. It's an amazing book with vampires and others

Hi, Lindsay :) I wouldn't waste your time on the Vampire Diaries. If you didn't like the first one, it only gets worst from there. You should try Vampire Academy by Richelle Meade... awesome series!
Also, there is the Morganville Vampires which is another good series.
The House of Night series starts off good, but the series is too long abd the last couple of books have been severely dissapointing.
The Blue Bloods series is a good one, too.
I hope I've helped you :)

Tales of Aradia: The Last Witch

I would agreed I really loved the Vampire Academy series. A kicked up YA series which is why I liked it since YA is not my favorite.

I would recommend;
Lynsay Sands " The Argeneau series"

Kerrelyn Sparks "Love at Stake series"

Laura Wright "Mark of the Vampire series"

ok so if you LOVED the black brother daggerhood series like i did you will LOVE the dark hunter series!!!! they are amazing and you are hooked the whole time. very sexy andthe story lines are amazing. you fall in love with each character!!!!

I don't know, everyone is different. But I wouldn't read book 2, let alone book 10 of a series. You really should read the series in order. :)

Haha... People are a little nutz if you aske me... Including me :) lol

For urban fantasy w/a little romance, I second Neill's Chicagoland Vampires. Just a warning that book four has a NASTY cliffhanger so you may want to wait to start that one until the next book is out in Nov. Karen Chance's Cassandra Palmer and Dorina Basarab Dhampir series are also very good UF books with vampires. The first book was weakest IMO (good not great) and the others are better. I especially loved the Dorina books. Very high action with lots of suspense/mystery and a little romance. (Don't miss the anthology in On the Prowl, which should be read between Midnight's Daughter and Death's Mistress)

If you are a fan of the Sookie series, you might like the Jane True series by Nicole Peeler. They reminded me in style to the Sookie books--quirky, fun, interesting characters and a fast moving plotine. I loved the range of the types of characters, e.g. gnomes, vampires, kelpies, shapechangers, goblins, succubus, alfar and more. First book is good and others are better.

If you like dark PNR, check out the Darkyn series by Lynn Viehl. Alex & Michael's relationship starts in book one then continues in the rest of the books. Then each book also introduces a new H/h and they get an HEA per book. My favs were Sam and Lucan--a homicide cop who becomes paired with a vampire assassin.

For mainstream adult PNR, I liked:
