Great African Reads discussion

There are two books about Africa that I have on my "keepers" shelves. I read both of these a long time ago, but recall finding them both spellbinding, in different ways:

-- Camping with the Prince and Other Tales of Science in Africa, by Thomas Bass.
-- African Genesis, by Robert Ardrey

Has anyone else read either of these books and loved them as much as I did?
