Amalie Hi! Several months ago I added information to this author's page, which was pretty much empty by then. The author's original books were in Sinhala but now there are publications in English and some other languages so I kept the page in English when adding info. somebody had changed the language into Sinhala and had used a unfamiliar font type.

Can't Goodreads let these librarians know that their actions make changes in other people's profiles and don't they read the librarian manual? Please do something about this.

Beth (bethjustbeth) | 1568 comments The typeface, I believe is Sinhalese characters. The only place I see that is in the city of his birth, and as titles to books that are actually written in Sinhalese?

Amalie Ok so now there's a change in the page, I didn't know what happened?? Earlier everything was in Sinhalese even the names of books which are actually English publications. The name was also in Sinhalese characters but I changed it back to English before I send this to you yesterday. Any way I think it's ok now but I don't know what happened? Thanks anyway.

you can check/discuss with this native librarian :)

Btw, instead of go back and forth changing the name of the author, i think the common practice is to add the name of the author in his/her native language as the second author, and crosslink the two author profile page as reference. this practice maybe abolished in the future when pseudonym and aliases feature for author is launched.

I don't think I know how to do it. Good idea. Tell me how to do it.

Paula (paulaan) | 7014 comments You need to do it book by book.

Go to the Author page, select a book, edit the book add another author in the other language and save.

The follow the hyperlink to the other author profile add author info in the same language. Copy the URL, go to the other profile edit that author info, add the URL from the other language profile to this profile and then do the same the other way round.

or, open the other profile in another tab, and do the crosslinking (copy paste of URL) simultaneously. :)
