TJ | 5 comments Oh! I forgot to add, InD'Tale is now accepting books for review from indie-published authors! If you have published a book in 2012 or are will be publishing in the next few months and your book has at least a secondary romantic thread (it does NOT have to be romance but DOES have to have a romantic relationship in it) just contact me at [email protected]

(sorry, at this time we don't accept erotica or gay and lesbian - we don't have reviewers for those genres, yet :)

What's up with that?

Is there a misspelling?

David Smith (DaveSmith) | 12 comments I have been reading this thread for some time. It seems to me that there are many fine ‘undiscovered’ authors here who have been doing a pretty good job of marketing/handling their books.

Just to let you know a tiny bit about me? I am the Editor in Chief of a small relatively new publishing house. When I write that rather grand title, it makes me a tad queezy:) However, let the bricks fall on my toes as they may.

The house charges no upfront fees-no backup fees-no fees whatsoever. Editing is done with one of our fine group of young editors, again at no cost to the writer. The writer and the editor work together to finally come up with a result that is professional-I enjoy the tight and right theory!

Great covers-good blogging-happy writers. Standard contracts, nothing hidden. As I have stated it is a fledgling house.

Books are often submitted to various competitions-recently IPPY, the Hemingway contest for example -- No cost to the author.

I am going on a bit, however, it might be of some interest to those of you who would like to be with a publishing house, albeit small yet growing. We do admit to having help from our authors regarding book fairs, signings, with regard also to helping with publicity. It is not a one sided love affair.

If anyone is at all interested please do not hesitate looking us up at: WWW.WRITERSAMUSEME.COM . To submit to us, we do not require a query letter or synopsis; simply the first two chapters plus the last chapter, along with a note about genre and word count is all we ask.

P.S. This is not spam-I talked to Rick before posting this. My only intention is to offer a hand. No guarantees friends-just a hand-Dave

Uvi Poznansky | 53 comments Hi all. My book Apart From Love is now available in its Kindle form for only $2.99. Click here to take a look:
http://www.amazon.com/Apart-From-Love...

Here is an excerpt from the opening:
"About a year ago I sifted through the contents of my suitcase, and was just about to discard a letter, which my father had written to me some time ago. Almost by accident my eye caught the line, I have no one to blame for all this but myself, which I had never noticed before, because it was written in an odd way, as if it were a secret code, almost: upside down, in the bottom margin of the page, with barely a space to allow any breathing.
The words left some impression in my memory. I almost wished he were next to me, so I could not only listen to him, but also record his voice saying that.
I imagined him back home, leaning over his desk, scrawling each letter with the finest of his pens with great care, as if focusing through a thick magnifying glass. The writing was truly minute, as if he had hated giving away even the slightest hint to a riddle I should have been able to solve on my own. I detested him for that. And so, thinking him unable to open his heart to me, I could never bring myself to write back. In hindsight, that may have been a mistake.
Even so, I am only too happy to agree with him: the blame for what happened in our family is his. Entirely his. If not for his actions ten years ago, I would never have run away to Firenze, to Rome, to Tel Aviv. And if not for his actions a couple of weeks ago, this frantic call for me to come back and see him would never have been made.
And so I find myself standing here, on the threshold of where I grew up, feeling utterly awkward. I knock, and a stranger opens the door. The first thing that comes to mind: what is she doing here? The second thing: she is young, much too young for him. The third: her hair. Red."

The competition is harder than ever, they claim, because everyone with a pen thinks himself a writer, and because taking rejection from publishers is a constant grind on the nerves. I beg to differ! I think there has never been a moment such as now, with new tools and new...

Stephen Henning (henningopolis) | 7 comments Hi everyone. This is a free book alert :-)

I'm an indie author and I've written a thriller book, aimed mainly at young adults (although "old" adults seem to enjoy it too), about two British teenagers who develop super powers following a terrorist bombing.

I'd be most grateful if you would give the book a go, and maybe post a review? It's raining in my home town, so if it is where you live, then why not curl up with some scares, thrills, and chills, packed into your little Kindle.

Best of all, today (Sunday 6 May) it's free!!

Lynn Hallbrooks (lynnhallbrooks) | 101 comments Supporting Indie Authors is a wonderful thing. I think it is even better when Indie Authors help support worthy charities. To that end, my co-author/business partner and I have decided to donate at least 10% of our profits on our book. Please see our blog:http://callsignwreckingcrew.blogspot.com for details of how we are going about this grand adventure.

Hope y'all are having a great one!

Hi Lynn

I'm running another free book giveaway for A Class Apart on Wednesday 16 and Thursday 17 May. So feel free to download it then. Hope you like it.

Good luck with your own project too. I just took a look at your blog. There's some really helpful advice on there. Thanks. (By the way, the formatting of the URL in your above post has gone a bit awry. The word 'blog' has formed part of the link.)

Free book details:

Amazon UK:

Amazon.com
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005...

Remember folks, it's only available for free on 16 and 17 May 2012. So if you're downloading the book for free, make sure the price is at zero before you click One Click Ordering, otherwise you will be charged (and your vote may not count - errr, no, sorry, that's a different show.....)

Hope you enjoy the book. And feel free to tweet the free book link if you are so minded to do so...

Cheers

Sorry I didn't back to you sooner. I had a very busy weekend. I live with my Godchildren and their parents. This is Final Projects time at school for my 14 y.o. God-daughter...so someone has to keep the 4 y.o. Godson out of all the supplies while Mom helps her out. Needless to say, I didn't get much done in terms of work this weekend. Thanks for wishing me a relaxing weekend...maybe I'll get one of those soon. :)

I tend to buy e-books and review them or tag them if I truly like them. The thing I'm finding about Indie Authors is that more than a few of them haven't taken the time to thoroughly re-draft and edit their work. I myself have been finding type-os in my book and I had several accomplished beta-readers and editors help me out with polishing before I published.

Its great for discovering "nitch" gems of fiction and nonfiction that don't fall into the mainstream hum-drum pandering #Q$(%!
