Trying to live her life in isolation, she wasn't prepared for what the humble cabin next door would bring. Reggie is not sure she will be able to overcome the horrible twist fate has thrown her way.

Chuck Franklin had no intention of taking the US government up on their offer of a free vacation in Vietnam’s jungles. Instead, for reasons atypical of most, he started walking north. In Sundown, Manitoba, he was taken in by a pragmatic priest, found work on a neighboring farm, and soon started a new life free of the Unites States draft board...but was it a new life? His job helping Lang and Evie Forestburg became more as he gradually filled in for their son Scott, who had travelled to the United States to serve in a combat role with the USMC. Chuck became helper, son, and even lover to Scott’s fiancé. Scott, however, returns home in a coffin, and Chuck’s world turns on its axis yet again. A dead US marine from Canada gets no burial, no commendations, no recognition at all so, as marines are wont to do, they take matters into their own hands and travel to Canada to provide full military protocol for a fallen brother. Their presence and Chuck’s guilt work together to raise doubts; Chuck decides to return to the US in order to turn himself in. He will not be a coward. He will serve his time. Little does he realize that able-bodied dodgers, when located, were sent not to clean floors in Leavenworth, but to stand a post and walk an ambush through chemically-drenched jungles. After boot camp, two tours in Nam, sniper school, and the lost of one very dear friend who still haunts him, will Chuck ever be able to return home, and if he can, which country would home be?

I'd say something is better than nothing. Don't despair though...getting your name out there is the main goal of this or so I've been told. :)

When Joe's doctor advises him to get his affairs in order, he faces two choices: leave this world full of regrets, or seek forgiveness for a life unlived.
An unexpected thing happens on Joe's path to redemption. He meets Rebecca, a young, single mother struggling with guilt over the death of her own mother. They soon come to realize that the other may hold the key to forgiveness and salvation -- if they can find the courage to trust one another.

One of the first 10 people to comment on her interview on JoeyPinkney.com will win a free copy of The Destiny of Shaitan. This ebook is equal parts Indian mythology, young adult, fantasy and science fiction.
Ms. Hariharan will email the winner either the PDF or Kindle version of the ebook. This is an interview where you will see her really bear her heart. I think you will enjoy.

I AGREE!!

I AGREE!!

I think, at the end of the day - we are all indie writers. I mean, let's face it - we don't get all that much support in this business. No retirement plan. No medical insurance. We are a pack of gypsies, living by our wits.
I'd love for some of you folks to pick up some of my e-books. At prices ranging from $2.99 to $3.99 they aren't all that expensive. And it would mean the world to me to hear from some of the folks who have read my work.
I don't want to inundate this thread - but here are a couple of good reads you might want to check out.

The novelette is called SUDDEN DEATH OVERTIME and it deals with the story of over-the-hill bush league hockey team from Labrador who go toe-to-tooth with a tour bus full of vampires. And we are NOT talking sparkly vampires. Think SLAPSHOT meets 30 DAYS OF NIGHT and you are somewhere close to the mark.
The bonus story is a time travelling hockey tale that I call “Time Out”.
If you hanker for something a little longer than you might want to check out
Tatterdemon - which is a fine and fat full length novel of scarecrow horror. Forget about your vampires and zombies. If you want something that really terrifies you pick up a copy of TATTERDEMON today.
Both of these are available in Kindle format. Tatterdemon is available for the Nook and the Kobo as well.

Congratulations Mike. I'd say you have some pretty tough competition in there.
Lynn

Happy Birthday America."

If you’re ever in need of an excellent development editor, contact Elaine Chaika [email protected]. I recently used her services for a novel-in-progress with a very complicated plot. Where others have thrown up their hands at the work, she dug in, unearthed the problems and provided concrete suggestions for solving them. No kid gloves with Elaine. She’s an ex-prof, has written books on linguistics and blogs on grammar. You can check her out on Goodreads.

I think that is very commendable of you to give Elaine Chaika such a great recommendation.

The biggest complaint readers have of Indie works is the grammar, mispellings, eta. Maybe there is a need for a service to help not only to help develope work but to do final polish and then give it a some sort of rating and a seal of approval.

Indies write with freedom and without having to stick to certain criteria.
It is vitally important to find and keep hold of an experienced and good editor. I'm now with Red Adept publishing and I couldn't be happier.
New authors need to be aware of editors who have jumped on the band wagon and have set up websites saying they're qualified editors though.
I know Red Adept's reputation continues to grow where other's have faltered.

Fortunately, my boss's secretary at work does my copy editing and occasionally tosses in some continuity questions to keep me on my toes. Even then, as she does mostly contracts, she tends to Over-Capitalize so I have to ignore some of her edits.
Once I have my current story complete and after I do a read through for consistency, I have a paid editor who has helped me before. I think we like to fight about stuff so its a good relationship.

While I'm here I'd just like to tell you about my latest release. Foul Justice is the fourth book in the Justice series.
Detective Inspector Lorne Simpkins is back on the force. Before she can get comfortable with her new partner, newly-promoted DS Katy Foster, the two are assigned a tragic murder case that looks like a robbery gone wrong. However, when another wealthy footballer's family meets the same deadly fate within twenty-four hours, it is clear the crimes involve something far more sinister.
Keeping her focus on unravelling the complex case isn't easy for Lorne when she learns news that throws her personal life into a spin—her fiancé, M16 agent Tony Warner, is involved in a dangerous covert operation in Afghanistan.
But innocent people are dying on her patch, and someone must catch the killers. Lorne can't allow this Foul Justice to prevail.
