Shellbelle | 195 comments Doing a Buddy Read for Angels' Blood (Guild Hunter, #1) by Nalini Singh by Nalini Singh, for the May Pick It For Me.

♦At this point we will only be discussing first book in series. When that is done this thread will be open to discuss the other books in the series, if anyone is interested in reading further!

Shell can't wait to read and discuss with you!

Shell | 2 comments Currently on pg 186 and wow.

I'm really liking this book so far. I haven't really read a lot of things with "Angels" in them because I have a stereotypical thought that they are "stuck up and holy". Raphael is FAR from holy. LOL More like Holy SMOKE can I have one of those???

The premise of the book is very different, Angels who can make Vampires who become their slaves and the Hunters who chase them when the Vampires go rogue. It's intriguing. What is is about the scent that makes "born hunters" intoxicated by vampires? I don't get that yet.

I wish the story (so far) had more info about the history of the "Angels" and how they became a dominate group in the world. I want to strangle Erin's father and how they treated her. Everytime she flashes back to that in her head, I get all teary eyed.

There is definately chemistry there between she and Raphael, and so far they haven't consumated anything. Lots of dancing around and teasing with the sexual tension on the rise.

LOL I found a "companion" guide to this series at my library, and have it on hold for me. Maybe that will answer some of my questions.

Shellbelle | 195 comments Okay I'm not quite as far as you...or maybe I am I'm reading an PDF ebook, so out pages won't be the same, but I'm pretty far!

I'm the same as you, as far as the Angle books. I have read a few, but I tend to shy away. I had accidentally read the 2nd book in this series, so I was a little prepared for how Rapheal was, but what was interesting was how much colder he is at the begining of the 1st book compared to where he ends up! I really like Raphael, is def. sexy!

As far as the History of the Angels, I think some of that is touched on in the 2nd book, but not much! And the sent, as far as I can tell, it's just one of those thigs that is!

I really love the world building, with the Guild Hunters, and they way Vamps are created. I love the way the Angels are just flying around in everyday life, but they are so far removed from your average human!

The flashbacks kill me, and be prepared if you decide to read the 2nd book, becuase If I remember right thery are worse! Her father is such a shit head with how judgemental he is with her.

I really love the Chemistry between the two of them, and I'm loving seeing how they first came together. It's pretty intense!

I'm going to have to see if I can find that conpanion guide!!!

I'm going to read more tonight and i'll post more later!

BTW I hope your feeling better...I have had Strep all week, and I'm just now feeling normal today! Being sick really sucks!

Shellbelle | 195 comments Okay Shell, I finished this book, and the Laid Bare. I don't want to post anything until you are done! Let me know when you are ready and we can get to talking! I really liked both:)

Shell | 2 comments Sorry, today has been crazy for me. I'm about 60% through with this one. I've gotten to where she tracks Uram's scent to the mansion and Raphael and the vamp Venom are there with her. Her interacts with the vamps are changing in a positive it feels like to me. Elena seems to have a more not really comfortable, but wittier dialogue with the Vamps now.

Elena went to the bank to get her "inheritance". Interesting that her father saved lots of things from her mom for her. I'm curious to see what is in the papers left in the safety deposit box.

I want to know more about Illium (sp?). He seems uber sexy. :) I'll try to have it finished tonight. I'm on baby duty until my Little Guy crashes, and then I'm free to read. Woo hooo!

Shellbelle | 195 comments There is no rush at all! Usually I don't get thru books that fast, but I have been sick, so everyone has left me alone, and nobody expected me to cook, or clean, or really anything! So I had few interruptions.lol

And I ADORE Illium♥ he is just too sexy! I have to say, after reading this book, soooo much more of the second book makes sense.... Okay so just whenever you are ready, let me know:) And seriously, no rush!

Shell | 2 comments Wow! Okay this is a book I have to have as a Keeper. I REALLY liked it.

Will be ready to discuss this tomorrow :) Sundays are usually my time to be lazy while the hubs has our little guy.

Shellbelle | 195 comments Sounds good, Sunday is our lazy day too:)

Shell | 2 comments Bleh okay so the "companion guide" isn't really a guide, but a novella about Ash and the Cajun Vamp. Gonna start that tomorrow.

I wonder @ the loyalty of the Seven to Raph...

and What about the archangel who has a mate? Was she an angel, vamp or other?

message 10: by Shellbelle (new)

Shellbelle | 195 comments Oh I know what short story your talking about but I haven't read it yet! I am really interested to learn more about the Seven, there is def. some more in the 2nd book, but I haven't read the 3rd yet, After reading this, I'm ready to read it:) Also book 4 is Dmitri's book, so I'm sure we will learn lots more about the Seven.

Okay what archangel with the Mate are you talking about? I'm a bit confused?

message 11: by Shell (new)

Shell | 2 comments I think his name is Elijah. He was mentioned as having a mate named "Hannah" I think

Shellbelle | 195 comments Okay I know what your talking about, and I actually think they go more into that into it in the 2nd book. I believe she is either an ArchAngel or just a reg one...but I could seriously be wrong about that! One of the things I liked about this book, was the feeling of menace almost always! It wasn't light and fluffy, It showed a very ruthless, cold race of being, and it was fairly different than most of the Angel stuff out there!

message 13: by Shell (new)

Shell | 2 comments It was definately different. I did like the darkness of the book. I struggled with the sudden change of emotion for each other between Raph and Elena. I mean it was there all the time, but in almost a fingersnap she changes how she feels and gets over his "heavy handed" interactions? That to me seemed forced. Or it could be I'm projecting my issues of dealing with bossy men? LOL

Shell | 2 comments Finished Archangel's Kiss (Guild Hunter, #2) by Nalini Singh Wow It really had more into the lore of the world. :) I loved the interaction between Raph & Elena, both very tender and yet intensely hot! I'm glad the author is showing the struggle he faces to no longer be just "The Boss of Me" with Elena, and yet still have some backbone. The situation with Lijean (sp?) creeped me out, though I had an inkling of who she'd raise from the dead by mid-way through the book.

I'm really interested in reading Dimitri's book! He's uber hot! Gotta put my name on the list for #3 @ my library. Hopefully it will come in soon!

Shellbelle | 195 comments I really enjoyed the 2nd book too! Of course I read it before the first so I didn't have all the back ground, but it was still so interesting. I love the whole tracking thing she does, and the way the scents effect her. Let me know when you get the 3rd book in and we can do a buddy read with it if your interested!
