Got this from Gaiman's website but I think it's a good question! Let's discuss! You can write spoilers here just mark them before writing them!

Well I think one example is the witches who want to be young... this reminds me of Snow White and the Evil Witch. Who of course wants to be the fairest of them all. I like the little twist where these witches are old ladies and need a young heart to be beautiful. And must watch for a falling star!

Lisa | 18 comments I think about the whole "hearts desire" thing in Stardust. This has so many versions in fairy tales. Every fairy tale being has their hearts desire...Pinnochio for example. Sometimes what you think is your hearts desire causes problems. I don't want to give anything away because this is not a post for those who have finished the book, but Stardust is different in this way from the classic fairy tale endings... at least of the ones I am remembering.

Lisa | 7 comments I think not only do the witches wish to be young, but (if I remember correctly) there are three of them---3 seems to be a popular/magic number in fairytales. Also, the inn in the woods (or the illusion of the inn) reminds me a bit of, I guess "Hansel and Gretel" and the ship in the sky somehow of "Peter Pan".
