Muphyn, I can't take all the credit! In fact, not much this time, as Laura and Carmel came up with most of it while I was away on holidays...enjoying myself while they were slaving away ;) But thanks for your enthusiasm, as we love to see lots of people participate, and enjoy their reading, reducing their TBR list, plus the huge variety of books that you all love to read! :)

The book is great, one of my favorite (I've read already, but I'd like to re-read it as it was long time ago). I am Russian so I have it in the original language.

message 81: by Muphyn (new)

Muphyn I read Doctor Zhivago years and years ago (absolutely loved it) and recently watched the old movie again (and still loved it, wasn't sure that I would). I really want to re-read it again and it's such a wintery read too (with all that cold Russian winter weather), it's a perfect read for the next months! :D (Might join you, Mountain_goat, when you tackle it!)

message 96: by Nikki (last edited May 18, 2011 04:48AM) (new)

Nikki (nikkiholly) I really need to get my TBR list down and finish all my series before I start new ones!

1) Pick a book that has a warm or summery theme on the cover: The Dead-Tossed Waves Even though there is a dead woman on the cover, I figure she is still working on her tan at the beach! The Forrest of Hands & Teeth was so good, can't wait to read this!
2) Pick a book from your Mt.TBR list: Demonglass Hex Hall (book 1) was such an enjoyable read.
3) Find a YA novel or a picture book to read: The Iron Daughter
4) National Tree Day – read a book you haven’t purchase: The Iron Queen (will borrow from library or friend)
5) Choose a book which has been made into a movie: City of Bones This is being made into a movie isn't it? I first read this ages ago and don't remember much, so I will reread it & continue on with the rest of the series. I wanted to read "A Walk to Remember" by Nicholas Sparks, the movie is one of my faves so I'm not sure, I don't want to ruin the movie!
6) Read a book with a word starting with the letters of WINTER in the title: White Cat not sure if I will like this.
7) Read an Aussie author's book: Saving Francesca
8) Read New Release out somewhere in the 3 month period of winter: Not sure yet
9) Pick a friend on your GR list and also select and read a book they have read: The Book Thief Many ppl have read and raved about this
10) Curl up beside the fire and grab yourself a book full of suspense or murder: Just One Look hmmm.. I need recs for a really good one. I love suspense thrillers (not YA) but have given up reading them because I'm always left disapointed.

The Dead-Tossed Waves (The Forest of Hands and Teeth, #2) by Carrie Ryan Demonglass (Hex Hall, #2) by Rachel Hawkins The Iron Daughter (Iron Fey, #2) by Julie Kagawa The Iron Queen (Iron Fey, #3) by Julie Kagawa City of Bones (The Mortal Instruments, #1) by Cassandra Clare White Cat (Curse Workers, #1) by Holly Black Saving Francesca by Melina Marchetta The Book Thief by Markus Zusak Just One Look by Harlan Coben

Monya (monyamary) Brenda, Murphyn and Mountain Goat - I've read Doctor Zhivago and seen the movie, and it's one of the few instances in which I preferred the movie!

I remember an interview with the producer at the time (yes, I'm that old, and to prove it I can't recall the blessed man's name, even though he did Lawrence Of Arabia too). He said the critics rubbished it at first. Then the money started rolling in and he stopped worrying about the critics.

Enjoy it all over again. By the way, I collect music boxes and I haven't been able to find one in my price range (very low!) that plays Lara's Theme (from the movie.) For a couple of years there I swear all the new music boxes were made with that melody included.
