Muphyn wrote: "This challenge sounds fabulous!! :D How do you do it, Brenda, coming up with these ten amazing ideas?!!"
Muphyn, I can't take all the credit! In fact, not much this time, as Laura and Carmel came up with most of it while I was away on holidays...enjoying myself while they were slaving away ;) But thanks for your enthusiasm, as we love to see lots of people participate, and enjoy their reading, reducing their TBR list, plus the huge variety of books that you all love to read! :)

You can count it for both categories if you wish :)
PS..great list too...:D

Cool!! Awesome job, Laura and Carmel, I am seriously, seriously impressed!! (I know how hard it is to come up with these kinds of ideas/challenges so I appreciate your hard work! :D)
Thanks, Brenda - counting books twice might be a good backup plan if I don't manage to get through them all! :D

A Thousand Splendid Suns
or A Visit From the Goon Squad

9..Pick a friend on your GR list and also select and read a book they have read. Never know, you might find something new to enjoy!
Don't know yet. Don't have any friends as I'm new here. Need to make some! :)
10..Curl up beside the fire and grab yourself a book full of suspense or murder! You might even spook yourself if it's rainy and windy and there is a murder going on within your book!
Don't know yet.. May be We Need To Talk About Kevin, although it doesn't fit here perfectly...
Can't wait to start, may be will end up cheating a little bit and starting earlier! :)

Great list Mountain Goat...as you are new here (no friends :( ), head on over to http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/3... and tell us all about yourself. We'd love to meet you, and welcome you to our lovely group! Browse the threads, enjoy our chats, and you'll find your TBR list will grow rapidly! :)
I also have Doctor Zhivago / Doktor Zhivago on my shelf to read Mountain! Saw the movie many years ago, and loved it.

The book is great, one of my favorite (I've read already, but I'd like to re-read it as it was long time ago). I am Russian so I have it in the original language.

Yes, I hope it won't be too long before I can get to read it. I'd love to find the DVD of the old movie too. Might see if I can chase it down.

You shelf it under faves and only give it 3 stars"
Yep! I did indeed. Favorite cause it's a good read...3 stars cause it wasn't mind blowingly amazing but I did really enjoy it.

Have FUN, though!!!

Thanks, Maggie, and you have heaps of reviews! So my number 9 would be:
The Glass Castle if I can find it
or Still Alice - this one is easy to find, just saw it yesterday in the shop

Great list Sally! Good that you can use books you have, be it on Kindle or paper ones...that's what I tried to do, helps lower the TBR list..lol

great list ... you have given me some ideas and more for my TBR list

Wow - Lucky you - I have just obtained book one in her new YA series The Gathering I haven't read it yet - but is earmarked as holiday reading :)

1) Pick a book that has a warm or summery theme on the cover: The Dead-Tossed Waves Even though there is a dead woman on the cover, I figure she is still working on her tan at the beach! The Forrest of Hands & Teeth was so good, can't wait to read this!
2) Pick a book from your Mt.TBR list: Demonglass Hex Hall (book 1) was such an enjoyable read.
3) Find a YA novel or a picture book to read: The Iron Daughter
4) National Tree Day – read a book you haven’t purchase: The Iron Queen (will borrow from library or friend)
5) Choose a book which has been made into a movie: City of Bones This is being made into a movie isn't it? I first read this ages ago and don't remember much, so I will reread it & continue on with the rest of the series. I wanted to read "A Walk to Remember" by Nicholas Sparks, the movie is one of my faves so I'm not sure, I don't want to ruin the movie!
6) Read a book with a word starting with the letters of WINTER in the title: White Cat not sure if I will like this.
7) Read an Aussie author's book: Saving Francesca
8) Read New Release out somewhere in the 3 month period of winter: Not sure yet
9) Pick a friend on your GR list and also select and read a book they have read: The Book Thief Many ppl have read and raved about this
10) Curl up beside the fire and grab yourself a book full of suspense or murder: Just One Look hmmm.. I need recs for a really good one. I love suspense thrillers (not YA) but have given up reading them because I'm always left disapointed.

Excellent list Nikki..why don't you go into your friends lists again for the suspense/murder book! You can look on mine if you like, I read a lot of that :)

Noticed I have Just One Look sitting on my bookshelf unread, So that will be my #10. You gave it 5 stars =)

Oooo yes!!! Very good story, that one...read back in the day before I started writing reviews!! :)

I remember an interview with the producer at the time (yes, I'm that old, and to prove it I can't recall the blessed man's name, even though he did Lawrence Of Arabia too). He said the critics rubbished it at first. Then the money started rolling in and he stopped worrying about the critics.
Enjoy it all over again. By the way, I collect music boxes and I haven't been able to find one in my price range (very low!) that plays Lara's Theme (from the movie.) For a couple of years there I swear all the new music boxes were made with that melody included.
