~KarenH~ | 11354 comments I finished my buddy read of The Beast in Him on 6/7. I haven't heard a final opinion from Lily yet, but based on conversations while we were reading, I think we both felt much the same about it - ok, but not as good as the first book in the series, The Mane Event, and Bobby Ray was way too cocky and full of himself through most of the book. I thought he did improve toward the end, but he was still pretty annoying at times.

OHHH!! Lili! is that you!! LOLLOL!!! i read, liked, and even commented on your review but had no idea it was you!!. You changed your profile pic and that completely tipped me off!! ohh that was a good one!! :P

Im so glad you liked Mercy`s book!! im climbing my way up there in the series.. they are soo good!!

Autumn (sweetdenial) | 1471 comments I finished It Had to Be You and it was mmm.. different. Im really difficult to like chick-lit. However, this book had its moments.. i feel like i want to read one more book before i form an opinion on SEP.

Thanks Cathy for the rec! I really like when im pushed in a direction to read new authors. :)

I will start with Comanche Moon (Comanche, #1) by Catherine Anderson after my current reading. xxxxxx

Just finished Karen... I gave it 3 stars and here's my review.

Meh!
I liked The Mane Event very much but this one fell short... it wasn't that funny or interesting.
I couldn't really relate to the main characters or get into the story.
I found Sissy sooo annoying and I guess at the end I was supposed to learn that Smitty's parents were tough but nice... don't really care either way.
I'll read the next one in the series but I'm in no hurry.

Are you serious??
I thought that was why you had commented on it!
LOL!
And yes, I changed my pic to show the world I'm a mighty Jade Dragon (my team for a group challenge).
I'm dying to get to Kiss of Snow but then I want to really savor each book since I'll have to wait a whole year for my next fix.

Thanks again for my recs Autumn... I want to read one of your funny books since I'm also a kind of sarcastic person (according to my boyfriend but I don't see it).
School is been hectic since we're 2 weeks away from summer break but I'll see if I can manage.

Hey Layla,

I couldn't get my hands on Under Fire, so I read Baby, I'm Yours by Susan Andersen. I thought it was really funny and had a good laugh over it. Thanks for the great rec!

Finished Star of the Morning (Nine Kingdoms, #1) by Lynn Kurland on Friday, 6-10-11. Good solid start to a series. For a romantic fantasy, the romance part was slow moving. But it is only the first book and there's plenty of room for the relationship to grow. The characters are interesting, one in particular is obnoxious. I'm interested in seeing how things develop.

Kate Clothier (kshelly79) | 172 comments Emily-

I read Dirty, and I wasn't crazy about it. I wasn't crazy about how it was written. I will have to see what else that author had written and try something else.
On a different note I also read A Hunger Like No Other and I loved it! You need to read that when you get a chance. I can't wait to read more of the series!

I am also planning to read It had to be you, got the book but couldn't start it yet and will also planning to give a chance to Hunting Julian if I can manage.

message 468: by Kami (new)

Kami (aidansmama) | 988 comments I finished The Darkest Night, my buddy read with Laura. I really liked it and gave it four stars. Another series that I want to finish. Like I don't have enough of those. There is just not enough hours in the day. If only I could read instead of work. Boo.

Hi Taita!
Thanks for the picks! I have finished two books and loved them both:

The Bride (Lairds' Fiancees, #1) by Julie Garwood

Nine Rules to Break When Romancing a Rake (Love By Numbers, #1) by Sarah MacLean

message 470: by taita (new)

taita Hi Roxy,

So glad you enjoyed the books! They are both fun reads. Enjoy the beginning of summer.

message 471: by taita (new)

taita Hi Gigi,

I finished The Raven Prince on 6/11 and as you know, I enjoyed it thoroughly. I needed a fan to lower the temperature in the room each time I read. LOL!

For some reason, I always thought of widows as old ladies. This book really changed my mind. Thanks for another great recommendation! I will keep working on the other picks you've given me this summer.

I am looking forward to that movie too, though a little bit worried about ruining the effect of the book in me... I have been recommending the book to almost anyone I know :)

message 475: by SandyC (new)

SandyC (sandyc88) | 1287 comments True, there is always that risk! The author wrote the screenplay so let's hope the movie is true to the source material. Have you seen the trailer?? It gives me goosebumps...I will probably start bawling when the opening credits roll. LOL

Amy J. | 349 comments I just finished Bet Me by Jennifer Crusie . Thanks so much for the recommendation Diane ~Firefly! I really enjoyed it. It had me laughing frequently. I thought the interaction between the two leads was believable. It defied my expectations of contemporary romance (see Harlequin Romance) in a good way. I'm glad I went with something outside my box this month.
