Aimee Laine (aimee_laine) | 49 comments I love to read books that are groupings of 3 (usually 3, sometimes more). I don't mean trilogies where knowing the real 'end' comes in the very, very, very last book, but the standalones that take a character from book 1 (or 2 or 3...) and become a new standalone as part of that series. (Hopefully that made sense).

In any case, if you found a Book 1 (standalone where you KNOW more characters are going to hook up) but the author came out with a new Book 1 with new characters first, are you disappointed? Willing to start a new 'series' before finishing another?

I know in the past, if I've fallen in love with a writer ... and I'm waiting for the 2nd or 3rd to be released, I'll read their older stories while waiting (some of which will have just come out even).

It doesn't bother me in the least and I like having a variety, even if I'm waiting (sometimes desperately) for that book 2.

You, too, or am I just weird? :)

Brenna Lyons (BrennaLyons) | 177 comments To each his own, really. For me, I don't mind if the author writes something different between. As an author, I know that sometimes you need to branch out, or you start stagnating. Keep it fresh. Clear the palate and then launch back in.

Agreed. :)

Mlpmom (Book Reviewer) (mlpmombookreviewer) | 839 comments I don't mind reading different books or series from an author while waiting for the next in another series. In fact I usually hope there is another book if I really like the author. Richelle Mead for me is one of those authors, same as Jeaniene Frost. I have read everything both of them have written because I love their work so much.

Aimee Laine (aimee_laine) | 49 comments I'm glad I'm not the only one. :) I've read threads (just just here) about how some readers hate when an author starts another series and that gets going before the 1st is finished. :) Made me wonder if I was an anomaly. :)

It doesn't bother me at all. If a book is really, really good, of course I want to read the next one right away. But sometimes the waiting makes it even better :)
