Jaime | 1 comments My library unfortunately does not have many cds available. I have an iphone and a mac, and I'm trying to put some audiobooks on my iphone but I can't figure it out. I've downloaded OMC to both my iphone and mac. I found a title on my library site to download. When it lists devices the book will play on, PC and Ipod are there, but Mac is not. When I attempted to download it directly to my iphone, I get the message "WMA audiobooks can't be downloaded on this device. Visit this site on a computer; many titles can be transferred..." So I downloaded the book on my computer; I was thinking even though it states that the title is not available to be played on a Mac, I don't want to play it on it. I just want to download it there to transfer to my iphone. The title shows up in my "downloaded" folder, but when I try to get it onto OMC, I get the message "this version of OMC does not support audiobooks in WMA audiobook format."

I am not very computer savvy, so this is driving me nuts. I'm going to end up just buying the audiobooks outright from itunes because I'm going to get so frustrated. If there's a way to use my library, I'd rather do it that way. But if it won't work on a Mac, then I guess I have no choice. Hope this makes sense. Thanks!

Carol | 75 comments I have the same problem! I plan to go to the library and ask them for help, but this is what I have found so far:
Even though it is compatible with Ipod, you can't download it on a Mac! This seems crazy, but you must use a PC to download to itunes or iphone. There must be some legal reason for this, but I have no idea what it is. WMA is not compatible with Macs.
Like you I'm not very techy, but I read this on the Overdrive site. WE do have a PC here at home, but I haven't tried to put itunes on it and try a download.
Our library has workshops from time to time to help with devices and downloading. They recently ran a Nook workshop. I'll bet there's someone at the library to help you.
I was wondering if I could download on one of the library's computers and transfer it to my ipod. I realize that this means a trip to the library that you shouldn't have to make to download a book online, but it just might be worth it!
I think I should take my own advice as well!

Shelly (okily-dokily) | 11 comments Unfortunately, there is no way you can download wma files from Overdrive for OS X. (I believe, but cannot confirm that you need Windows Media Player for Windows to crack the DRM.)

If you have a newer Mac (one with an Intel processor) you can install a copy of Windows on your computer using Boot Camp. Of course, that means you need a copy of Windows, but I bet if you ask around you'll find someone with an old copy of XP.
