I couldn't find a place to leave a comment, but what fun! Perfect tombstone for Halloween. Cemeteries in old towns are pretty interesting.

Thanks, Marja. I've always loved reading the tombstones. It's like being a witness to history. In this particular cemetery, most of the residents are from the 1800s, but this one was from 1998. Interesting!

Years ago I had an interesting time at the cemetery in Virginia City, Nevada. I understand that over time many of the tombstones have been stolen. Too bad!

Yes, that's a serious shame. Once a tombstone is so old, there is no one left that would replace it. I wish people would stop and think about doing something so heinous. What if that were their mother or father, or even their own some day? The ones that really touch me when going through the cemetery are the family plots. In an old cemetery in Fort Wayne, Indiana, I found a whole family, parents and children, who died only days apart. Very old stones. Made me wonder if they were in a fire or had a disease. It's very interesting. Makes me want to do research on them.

I was working on family history and visited a cemetery with old graves in East Los Angeles. I found some very interesting markers. You never know what you'll find.

Life in the Middle Ages is often depicted (at least in Hollywood) as dark, grim and grimy. Yet an early 12th Century traveler noted that in one residence, the windows opened some on the sea, some on to delicious gardens. The walls were panelled with plaques of polychrome marble; the vaulted ceilings were painted to resemble the sky with its stars. Reading the comments here about other blogs, I am even embarrassed to say I have a blog. janokane.blogspot.com I have had it for a couple years, it started out as a way to write stories about my family and my youth.
However, I released my first novel in mid-June. I have posted about it in several places, besides my blog. I posted on LinkedIn, Twitter and Facebook as well as here on Goodreads. Recently it’s review and results posted on www.bookcontentratings.com.
In my most recent blog, which I am sorry to say has not been updated recently. I took a six-week course with Durham citizen's police academy. It is a perfect way for me to learn more about police procedures. The course included a three-hour ride along if you so choose. I definitely did the ride along.
I would love to hear what you have to say about the sample of my book posted on my blog. I would be so excited to hear from you and your ideas. I am working on Johnnie's next adventure, so please help a new writer.

As a retiree with various health issues, the worse for a writer being a tremor of my right hand, having a blog is my creative outlet. A book is not in the picture, at least not in the immediate future. My blog examines many issues/topics. It gives me joy.
